So Pirates 5 : Dead Men Tell No Tales/Salazar's Revenge is out next week, any hype?

I'm hyped. Besides Apes, it's the only sequel this summer that actually looks fun. Moreover, I've rewatched the first two films (going to hit 3 and 4 before next week), and I've realized my longtime hatred of Dead Man's Chest is really ridiculous. The first is the best, but the other two are really great films. Stranger Tides is awful if I remember correctly, but that's because there's no Verbinski and no Will and Elizabeth. The directors they got for this one though are actually pretty good, so yeah, it looks fun to me.

Also it being ten years since 3 and
Will and Elizabeth being involved
makes me think this one should've been 4. Makes sense for a sequel trilogy around this time, right? ;)

Bish loves my games!
This one has a duo of interesting directors. Plus I think Orlando Bloom is underrated in the first three. I'm cautiously apathetic.

I'm a huge fan of the Pirates movies, so yeah I'm pretty hyped. I'm not expecting a great movie, but I've still enjoyed every single one despite the flaws. Based off the trailers, this one looks like it's shaping up to be a lot of fun at least.

I actually really liked 2 and 3 for the ridiculously wacky, out-there plot. It felt like I was watching a JRPG in blockbuster form.

I saw this on Monday at a pre-screening. I thought it was pretttttty bad. Went in hoping for the best, as I love the first two and this one got good reception at CinemaCon, but I left thoroughly disappointed.

I just don't understand why this film is called "Salazar's Revenge" here in the UK and in other territories.

Saw a preview for the movie when I went to see Guardians 2, and I honestly thought they had already made another film after "Dead Men Tell No Tales" and was honestly confused.

It's out next week?

Don't think I actually bothered seeing the last one, I honestly can't remember. I more or less stopped paying attention after the second one.

I don't get the love in here for the third movie. One of the dumbest movies I've ever sat through.

EDIT: Dumb is a poor word. I'll say I don't ever recall being as annoyed by a movie as I was by that one.

Black Pearl was amazing. World's End was so, so bad. It's convoluted bullshit pretty much ended any goodwill and swashbuckling light hearted adventuring the series was supposed to represent. I think the series has been dead since then but Disney doesn't wanna believe it quite yet.

4 was actually better than I expected though. Definitely better than 3.

They've got increasingly worse after the first one. 1 was good, two was ok, 3 was kind of bad. Never saw 4. The best things about the sequels were Davy Jones.

Well 3 was horrible,
giant crab lady was cringey
, and I skipped 4... will probably skip this too (unless it's in the 90's rotten).

Pirates 2 is so good. I put it up there with the first and the cliffhanger was amazing. 3 disappointed me though. Had some nice moments but overall, too much going on.

4 was forgetful. My fiance and I plan on rewatching the whole series before Thursday.

If it can recapture just some of what made the first two amazing blockbuster experiences I'll be down. 3 was a disappointment and 4 was a turd, so it's not going to be hard to beat at least that one.

Loved the 1st, hated 2nd and 3rd, skipped the 4th. I may rent the 4th and give it a shot to see if I want to see the 5th. Since Bloom and Knightly are back it would be interesting to see what happened with their characters.

Reviews will come on the 22nd so I look forward to that...and this movie despite how the previous movies besides the 1st one turned out.

Didn't see the fourth one and it's been a decade since I've seen any of those movies and yet somehow the thought of seeing a fifth seems exhausting.

But I heard or saw something about this one not being so Sparrow-heavy? I'd check it out if that was the case.

I'm excited, I LOVE the first two. Fuck man, Davy Jones... not sure if I have mad a recent film character stand out to me as much as him since.

3 was pretty awful (though it had amazing music and some fun visuals) and 4 was forgettable but watchable.

Any reactions to the music in the newest movie?

One think you can be sure about this franchise is that soundtrack will always rock

I dunno, 4 was pretty boring - it just kinda rehashed existing themes from the first in less than exciting ways.

Especially following 2 and 3 which had that exciting and emotional punch combo.

Oddly enough, I haven't really seen much marketing for this film TBH. We're a week away from release and I've haven't seen any TV or online adverts.

Honestly I'm more interested in the film's reception, more than the film itself. While the last film was able to break $1B despite poor reviews; things have changed quite a bit since 2011. I think the word-of-mouth will be the thin line between this film either making another billion (or getting close to it, like $900M) or becoming one of the biggest bombs of all time, considering the budget for this film is at $230 million (!!!).

With that said, if it is at least decent, let alone actually good; I will try and go catch it in theaters. I like the first three, but haven't really made an effort to see the fourth.

I wasn't interested in this until the AMC theater me and my brother saw GOTG 2 in showed an extended scene of Jack and some new people trying to escape a zombie shark in a rowboat. It was so ridiculous that it was fun to watch. Got me interested, but cautious.

Paul McCartney's a pirate so I'm gonna have to see it with my sister.

Me and my Fiancé can't wait!!!

The Pirates movies are a guilty pleasure of ours.
We are marathoning them right now. In the middle of Dead Mans Chest at the moment.
