Used to play the game a lot but quit. Great game with fast content updates. The game is not P2W, but more so pay for convenience.

Also new striker class is out today apparently

Can I redeem on steam if I already own this?

No; apparently you need to make a new account. The steam thing is more for new users rather than current/returning ones. It sucks, but hopefully in the future they change that.

It has so many interesting mechanics its drawn me back time and time again. The interface needs a major overhaul and they could use more tutorials.

Steam page says this game has "partial controller support", but is it any good? I found a support page article on controllers but it seems pretty basic. I guess expecting FF14-levels of control would be too much.

500 players connected on stean rn, thats always good news for mmos.

Keep in mind it only came out there 3 hours ago, and that the game's file size is absolutely massive (50GB>). Numbers will increase.

This is the MMO with the insanely detailed character creator right?

Yep! Super overwhelming at first, but offers so much freedom.

Is a monthly charge after the initial purchase?

Pay once, play forever. There is a value pack equaling a monthly premium subscription, but you can easily do without.

And that steams numbers are pretty much all NEW users. Current players cant use steam to access their current accounts.. and there are thousands and thousands of current users

Quoting anothertech's excellent write-up in my LTTP thread:

It's an amazing game for old school MMO sandbox games.

Exploration is huge. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The desert map at end game is extremely interesting in that you can't see where you are, and have to follow the sun and pay attention to the terrain to see where you are going. Not to mention the water and tea you have to keep on you to keep from dehydration. Much more immersive and realistic.

Hundreds and hundreds of types of enemies. This game is all about killing monsters. And the difficulty level is as much as you want it to be. You can breeze through killing lowby badies, or challenge yourself with skull level beasts many levels above you. And the gear they drop isn't level restricted so you can use whatever drops if it's better than what you have.

The fighting animations are extremely smooth and addictive. Some of the best visually pleasing combat in an MMO hands down. That and the character creator is really what keeps players coming back for hours and hours.

Swapping weapons and Armor between characters is possible. It's a very satisfying mechanic, since you only have to upgrade one set of armor and you can pass it on to your other characters if you feel like a change in class. A few weapons are interchangeable too, which is nice.

PvP is mostly absent at low levels, and severely punished for ganking purposes with very interesting mechanics. You get sent to prison out in the middle of the desert if you gank enough, and you have to try and escape. And there is an entire town dedicated to the gankers in the middle of no where. It's enough to keep it from happening for sure, even at high levels.

Leveling and upgrades make significant difference in power. At 56 your awakening is unlocked and you follow a quest line to gain an entire new set of skills. Kind of like a reset for each class at level 56. It's kind of amazing and feels awesome an powerful for each class.

They update the game fairly continuously. New classes and areas to explore keep coming.

This isn't the 'dungeon and raid boss' MMO, that's for sure, though there are world bosses and group scrolls that summon bosses that are quite difficult but have rewarding loot drops.

Also if your looking for story driven quests, this isn't the MMO. The story is lackluster at best, and quests give very little xp.

This MMO is for the sandbox loving types, kind of like a combat driven hi res Minecraft. You just get on there to decide what you want to do, and you can do it with as many of your friends as you want. The building, crafting, farming, economy, marketplace, exploration, combat, and end game pvp elements are EXTREMELY deep.

Or you can just get on and kill some monsters and try to level up a little more from time to time. Getting to 60+ is a mammoth achievement. But it rewards you with power for doing so.

Oh. It's buy-to-play? Hmmm... I was kinda hoping it was F2P with cosmetic/convenience Michael Trans-actions. I'm not sure I want to pay for an MMO right now, even if it's a one-time purchase... and especially if it does have microtransactions after paying.

But, hey. If it's on Steam, that means it's going to get discounted sooner or later, right?

Edit: Oh, shit, scratch that! I didn't see that the base price was €5 right now! I only saw the €30 bundle. I'm getting it as soon as I get home. How is it for a single-player experience?

It is discounted, its only $6. The game is best as single player IMO since its a very sandbox game.

Wanted to play this game (even bought it at release but yet to play) but got turned off by the fact that you're forced into having PvP enabled when you reach a certain level. That way there is no way to enjoy the game without fear of getting ganked randomly.

That and that this is mostly a PvP focused game.

I really hope as time goes by they add pure PvE servers and a more rewarding PvE experience. Really enjoyed the beta.

For new people:

-There is no fast travel, so your horse is EVERYTHING.
-There is a lot to do, and exploring random areas does help you in the long run, especially if you know where various ore deposits are when you really need them. Or the various mushrooms if you're doing alchemy.
-Cooking is an artform, and knowing the cooking mechanics can save you a ton of materials as well as stress. All dishes have many ways of being made, so you can literally substitute ingredients. If a dish needs 5 potatoes, you can probably get away with 3 potatoes and 2 sweet potatoes. Or if your cooking level is high enough, maybe just 4 potatoes.
-Afk fishing is a way of life, every town has them. So eventually you'll afk fish too so try and get a good rod when you can.
-Endgame gear is only if you plan to PvP. If you're doing everything else then you can get away with decent stuff. The best stuff take ages to make and a lot of time and/or money.

That writeup is from before they released Magoria. So not only is there a desert to explore, you have a whole freaking ocean to explore. And since there is underwater exploration it's a whole different beast.

While I'd probably jump into a PvE only server myself (if I could keep my char), I have played the game since day 1 and I have only been killed by PvP:ers less then 10 times.

I get the impression this is the kind of game you dedicate your entire life to or you're better off not playing it at all even moreso than most MMOs. It's definitely doing its own thing but it was too much for me looking for a more casual experience.

There's a lot to do. It just depends on what you want to focus on.

For example, I spent probably 50 hours just raising, breeding, and selling horses. Quite literally doing nothing else.

You guys are selling me on this. Is there lore and stuff to learn and read about towns and talking with NPCs? Also how big are towns and cities?

I've seen some reviews/message board comments say the entry package isn't really worth it. Lacks bag space and some much needed stuff that comes with the next tier up. Apparently grinding that stuff isn't fun.

6$ only? Count me in. And I know that I deserve sime hate for this question, but the game plays well with a gamepad, right? My Pc is connected with my tv and right now this is the obly way for me to play.

The cities are MASSIVE. When you walk into each city, you literally sit there taking screenshots of how big it is compared to your character and go exploring, etc.. You can also have houses in each city and decorate them. Probably the MMO with the best looking cities/town hubs.

One of the best things about this game is exploration. Its worth $6 just to explore. They are also adding a new continent in about two weeks for higher level players.

That really does depend on what you're looking for. If you're looking for PVP, yes, you need to devote a ton of time. If you just want to focus on a couple of areas that isn't devoted to PVP, you'll be just fine.

Otherwise it's totally at your own pace. Since I was just focused on alchemy and horse raising, I found it very enjoyable. Just ignore the only really 'life devoting bits' aka PVP and there's a ton to love.

It's really great because almost everything is woven together. Fishing benefits your wallet which benefits whatever practice you want to partake in which can lead to more profits which can lead to expanding your minion empire which can lead to having them gather resources which can lead to something like tailoring which can lead to more profits which can be invested in some really 'high end' profession items so you can really stake a claim in your profession and so on and so on.

Bagspace can be expanded with ingame quests to an extent, you go from 24 slots (start) to 55 slots when you have gotten all free upgrades, some achievements have more slots as reward too (1 time only reward).
City storage can be expanded buy buying storage houses in the specific town.

Every place has its own history, which will reflect in its visual design, quest lines and conversations with NPCs. While not exactly centerstage, there also is a lot of political intrigue happening in the shadows, and the attentive player will find a lot to pick up on.

I haven't played the game in awhile, might jump back in later. But all I did was do quests. Look everywhere for quests.

There are players who are way higher level than me and don't even have some of the quest titles I have because:

The quest chain for one title I gotten took me LITERALLY 4 months to do. FISHING QUEST CHAINS SUCK STUPID RNG GODS!

Yes, that quest burned me out but walking around and seeing literally no one with the title I'm flaunting is nice. I've seen like...5 people in the game total with that title because it's an absurd waste of time.

I forgot all about this game. That character creator was wayyy overhyped, and a severe letdown that turned me off the game.

Is there like an endgame? Like, could I treat this like a RPG and finish it eventually if I don't want to PVP?

Well, 5E is dirt cheap so I'm gonna check it out :) My only fear is it will run like shit on my ancient i5-3470 :)

To those experienced with this game, what do you get in the 30 bundle? I mean is it worth it in your opinion?

You can finish all currently available story quests, but due to its sandbox design, endgame means different things to everyone. It's not the kind of game you finish just like that. But there is absolutely things to do besides PVP. I don't do it myself either.

You could definitely set a goal for yourself, but eh, not really.

Like if your goal is the make the best, fastest ship (which isn't like in other MMOs where you just do it easily), then you can 'beat it'. If you goal is the make a top tier horse with the perfect skills, then yeah, you can 'beat it'.

But it's a constantly evolving world.

I want to get it, but last time I played it seemed pretty brutal in its demands for hard drive space. Whenever it needed a patch, it would refuse to update if I didn't have 80GB of space free at the time, even if the patch didn't require that.
