I always just took the TWW Zelda example as taking away her roughness. She lost her tan. She doubtlessly also lost all her calluses. It's not a race thing. It's a standard of beauty thing, which is its own problem. Feminine princesses aren't supposed to look like they've been outside doing manual labor their whole life, so she was changed to look like she would if she grew up like a princess.
