Remember how MH sold on ps2? Yeah not very good and that was when japanese gaming was at it's peak succes wise.

It will either never release on ps4 or it will become a multiplatform game franchise.

It won't be ps exclusive.

They literally just announced a very significant Switch game hours ago that will in all likelihood handily outsell any Capcom PS4 game released so far and could approach PS4's best selling game, period.
Switch might be getting a portable variation, but I think if the rumor is true Sony secured the MH5 name similar to SFV.
Now we don't know how MH5 will be close to the traditional ones but based on Capcom latest statement they want the game to appear to Western audience.
SFV sounded like a safe bet but didn't go as intended, Capcom might be nervous that this might happen again.

Honestly, MH is Capcom's one well handled IP. It's actually hilarious how consistently successful they are with it while repeatedly falling on their face with all their other efforts. The rumors always has been bollocks as they completely deviate from what helped them make MH the success it is.

Just a friendly reminder.... https://t.co/Sx0Ndus3nx

posted the link to his article from last year when the CEO of Pokémon said they would make Pokémon games for the Switch.

Probably just a reminder and not much of a hint since it's probably the next big thing to announce after Monster Hunter for Switch.

Edit: A reminder that he does get insider info like when he first reported the NX Dev kits.

I think last night is clear evidence that the series will continue on Switch and will be a primary platform in Japan.

Now, what that means as far as PS4 and what games are called, etc. I don't know.

I think there will be some sort of MH on Switch but not because of XX since they hinted it was coming a few months ago.

I'm more curious about how they handle the break if they were dumb enough to give Sony exclusivity. Reintroducing the portable series after cutting it off seems extremely stupid. The timeline at which they would have the Vanilla and G version on PS4 makes me curious as to how they would handle a Switch game.

I think we get more MH on Switch but the whole deal if they made it is so exceedingly dumb.

I think based on the rumor that Monster Hunter 5 will be a PS4 exclusive.
Capcom had a strong and very vocal support for the 3DS from the get go unlike the Switch were they're a bit more silent.

They have been more lukewarm on Switch but it's extremely odd given the power of the system makes porting far more trivial and for a handheld that is unprecedented. They went in on lots of 3DS exclusive content. Here they are shying away from generation old remasters. It's extremely weird.

Capcom won't abandon handheld MH and exclusivity on PS4 is a stupid and awful decision.

This is Capcom we are talking about though.

Maybe, but wanted to respond to your argument that Capcom was quiet on the Switch- that was certainly true 24 hours ago but not so much now.

I'm still on team #fake, I don't see what Sony or Capcom gain out of an exclusive deal. Maybe Sony will fund some advertising for it in order to prevent it from being Nintendo exclusive, but I can't see them going the distance for the franchise unless they've got some new portable to announce.

I struggle to see the Capcom that takes their flagship brand and produces a lower budget, lower expectation Resident Evil 7 going from making one line of relatively low budget Monster Hunter games to making two line of much higher budget Monster Hunter games.

Monster hunter gets announced for the switch and now the mh for ps4 rumor is somehow stronger then ever

I'm sorry this is factually wrong. You're in a sales thread, at least make the effort to look numbers up instead of being ridiculously fanboyish.

DQ7R - 1239k
DQ8R - 903k
DQB - 694k
DQH - 832k

NPD

DQ7R - 35k
DQH - 31k

DQH noted to have sold 1 million in Japan and Asia in 4 months.
DQB noted to have sold 1.1 million by Nov 2016.

Resident Evil is far more notable. Been going strong for over 20 years, they make bank by just releasing HD remasters or remakes.

Sorry if i sound blunt, but would it be any reason why it wouldnt happen? A new Pokemon game is as sure as a new Call of Duty, Fifa, Monster Hunter etc. game :)

It would be somewhat surprising to get a title from the mainline series so soon.

Do you know how many years this is happening, first with Vita and now with PS4?

It has become a running joke every time a new Monster Hunter is hinted. Monster Hunter for Switch was just announced and we'll have 20 pages for a hypothetical title that won't come out at least 1 year from now.

If Arms wants to pull a mini Splatoon hype, this weekend will show if it will make it or not.

I dont know. Its its announced fairly soon, it could be released in Spring 2018 for example. Sun and Moon was announced in February, but not released before November, almost 9 months later. Might be a bit earlier than normal, but nothing that quite out of the ordinary i think.

Pretty much, there is another weekend testpunch in June but the majority of people with a Switch are playing this now and that will affect impressions.

Impressions won't really change much on the second weekend if people have had enough time on this one currently.

So far with just two sessions already that people are adapting and getting more skilled at the game.

Of course this makes things harder for the newcomers in the second session, it's not exactly the same as Splatoon since with that you could just focus on inking the ground if you can't deal with beating other squids.

Man if Game Freak/Nintendo announce a mainline Pokémon soon on Switch, I don't want to imagine what will happen.
Oh nevermind, it means even more lottery for the hope to get a Switch, hahaha.

Edit : would make more sense for the next Pokémon game to be early 2018 at this rate.

Switch has an incredible first year lined up in Japan.

The momentum from consistent heavy hitting software releases will lift it to lofty heights.

Only concern is if Nintendo will have enough hardware to sell.

So basically could mean that both S-E and Nintendo are waiting for a specific timing to announce it?
I know it's not happening, but has there ever been temporary exclusive localizations in the past?

I know I've said that before, but I'm really curious to know what the deal is with that version. Makes you wonder when Squeenix would've announced it in the first place if not for Horii being Horii.

Do you not think there will be a proper MH for PS4?

I'm really doubting Pokemon Stars now..

I think Sinobi mentioned a big unannounced game for the 2nd half of 2017 in Japan.
I'm assuming that game is now Monster Hunter.

;/

Man, in hindsight, Nintendo really fucked up. They'll be leaving a lot of money on the table this year, I can't see them satisfying the demand at all. I couldn't even imagine the insane rush if Pokemon released this year. There's no way.

It will be the interesting to see if ARMS is going to be able to ignite some interest of Japanese gamers or it will flop here.^^

I think they want to use the monster hunter brand to sell consoles and games.Monster Hunter is pretty big at the moment, that game will sell well no matter what and will boost the sales of the ps4 in Japan also, Sony didn't spend big on it for no reason
A MH game without local MP and something that ditches the series staples will not sell well in Japan.

Such a game would cater to an audience that doesn't exist in their core playerbase.
