"Such a waste of great music in a subpar game" thread.

Nier

Edit: I take back mentioning Automata. Played for a couple more hours and reached a legitimately interesting boss fight. Truly epic stuff.

I feel like Gravity Rush kinda sorta fits in here

game is OK, is not bad, just merely ok

but the music is SUPERB

As someone who can't enjoy game music without enjoying the game it comes from, these situations are the worst.

Final Fantasy XV.

Also Cheetahmen!

Although I actually really liked this game, Bomberman Heros was critically panned

The soundtrack was revolutionary though.

I actually kinda like Lair.
But I think the horrible reception scared John Debney away from working in the video games industry.

Which is a shame because the soundtrack of Lair is absolutely amazing

Easily my favorite "epic" soundtrack of last gen

Musashi Samurai Legend was an awful action RPG, especially compared to Brave Fencer Musashi. Junya Nakano and Masashi Hamazu wrote a lovely score to a pretty crummy game.

I love FF XIII so I ain't even gonna mention that one. I guess Unlimited Saga is another Hamazu gem attached to an iffy game.

Destiny for sure when it had launched.

EDIT:

WET has an amazing set of soundtracks done for it. For a otherwise underrated game.

Saga Frontier 2

I like Chrono Cross but the OST is much better than the rest of the game. Kinda feel the same way about Silent Hill 3 and the original Guild Wars.
