There was a 4chan rumor a couple of weeks ago that called out by name Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for 3DS, and mentioned Eclipse for Switch in 2018.

This isn't true. It said that Eclipse would launch in November 2017.

It was a very sketchy rumour, and besides, anyone could predict "Ultra" from the Ultra Beasts.

Just because Ultra Moon and Ultra Sun are definitely not coming to Switch doesn't mean the rumoured Stars version isn't. It's highly unlikely (you'd expect them to just move on to a new gen), but I'm just saying that this release doesn't rule that out.

It was a rumored codename for a supposed upcoming Pokémon game(s). Everyone seems to forget this. The Stars rumor could very well have truth to it (despite a Switch version not happening after all), with Stars being the codename for Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon, much like Rainbow/Niji was the codename for Sun / Moon. I mean, the logos for Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon even have stars in them! This is Pokémon Stars, people! The question is, will there really be a Switch version released later, or was that part of the rumor mistaken?

Nothing said has de-confirmed the possibility of a Pokemon Stars on Switch. Just that these specific names aren't coming to the Switch.

Stars is probably still happening, or was happening as of last November, anyway. Eurogamer is extremely credible. But that's the risk with leaks: if plans change before the announcement, you can't prove your report was true at the time (with very rare exceptions like the Tegra-powered 3DS dev kit), and people will accuse you of lying, having bad sources, or getting duped by a fake no matter what.

Not even upset as there's way too many new games coming out this year for the Switch and honestly a retelling of Sun/Moon sounds kinda lame. Probably would've bought it anyway if it did come out for the Switch, but I've retired my 3DS and more than likely won't be coming back to it unless I feel the urge to replay Zelda: LBW or Robobot.
