I hate the accusation of people being jaded, but when 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Arms and Splatoon are summarized as "feels like nothing", than I gonna give the accusation a pass.

Its a Nintendo thread about announcements. They usually start and end incredibly toxic. Remember Pokemon Direct?
Yup, totally agree. That's a ton of Nintendo's heaviest hitters. Maybe if you are only into JRPGs I could see that being disappointing, but otherwise I feel like you aren't into Nintendo at all if those aren't attractive to you.

i dont know i mean i am still covered with zelda and mario kart 8 but you can not assume every retail release on a console appeals to everyone. My friend for example buyed the switch for Zelda and could not be less exited for a mario or Multiplayer game

Feeling no hype this year. Where is the hype train from last year? I'm gonna enjoy the Mario footage though. Shit looked amazing already in the reveal trailer.

My expectations at this point:

20 minutes of Splatoon 2, ARMS, Super Mario Odyssey, and Pokken.
2 minutes of blah blah and new joycon colors.
2 minutes of Pokemon UltraSM
1 special surprise at the end:
SWiitch Sports

Anything better than that will be pleasant surprise.

Sounds like bad judgement on their part. Why would you buy a console for one game if nothing else for the rest of the year interests you?

There won't be 3DS news during the Spotlight.

Most 2017 japanese games won't be coming to Switch. 2018 onwards will be a different story.

You have to realise this.

This. 2017 was always going to be low on third party support even from companies Nintendo has a good relationship with. If the Japanese third parties aren't there for 2018 even with the increased install base then worry and maybe panic.

With the Switch this is the outlook people should have always had.

- Support from Nintendo.
- Support from indie developers. Not all but a lot of them and maybe more over time.
- Support from Japanese third parties that made 3DS games and those Nintendo worked with on Wii U games.

What we have now is the above and some current games from Japanese third parties on games they already released in the last year that weren't on the Wii U but the other systems. Dragon Quest Heroes from SE, Disega 5, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 coming, etc. Anything big and major that was planned for the fall this year or early next year was off the table. Those games were well under development.

Now with the 3DS not dying but still going strong that's going to screw with things. Do those Japanese 3rd parties stick with the 3DS, make dual releases, or move to the Switch? Or do they just jump into the mobile red waters.

One could have hoped some of these upcoming games might come but expectation should have been that they wouldn't regardless of engine, etc. Time is an issue. Something like FIFA could make it likely because it seems liked a customized version of FIFA 16/17 with improvements from the upcoming version but renamed to match it. FIFA is likely changed enough from what we've seen now that it can be considered a new game.

The Code Vein thing does annoy me because like said they could have announced the platforms for that damn game a long time ago. There was no reason at all to hide that. That made no damn sense. I hate when companies in general do that.

If Reggie is speaking accurately, it should be a decent spotlight.

We'll see what the reveals are. Could make it a great spotlight.

where did i say nothing else intressts him? He is playing disgaea atm.. Just said that its a worthless effort to count big first party titles from nintendo and pretend everyone who has a switch should be intressted

you are so on point with this.

I read often things like well square enix could probaly if they try hard enough scale down Kingdom Hearts 3 to switch and port it, but they totally ignore the time this would take to make that effort, where the base game was designed without switch in mind, like several other games

I always expect what was announced or had a convincing leak. Otherwise, except for cases when a game normalizes sexism, racism or exploiting gamers trough things like lootcrates, I'm never really able to be upset.

That doesn't mean there isn't content though. Just not content that you are interested in. Big difference IMO.

Mine is pretty and pink
I'm listening to Michael Pachter on Youtube live at E3 with Geoff Keighley and the stuff he is saying sounds spot on actually. That's real weird.

"Don't group the switch with the other consoles as it's a supplement, a handheld and it will continue to sell a shit ton just like every other nintendo handheld" paraphrased, also his talk about Microsofts conference was also interesting with his talk about how even if 499 isn't too much for what it is it's just too high a cost for most people to put down when they can choose another consoles (ps4, xbox one s) and play the same games with only a "relatively" minor difference.

Kinda off topic. Do you need to play xenoblade to enjoy xenoblade 2? Thinking about buying a switch for this

Probably not, but noone knows except Monolith.

Has there ever been a case there you had to play the previous game to enjoy the new one?

He is reverse Nostradamus, thats the only "issue" everyone has with him.

For story reasons you mean? Judging from the trailer we got in January, it looks like a stand alone story. There will probably be some connections to previous games, but nothing major.

Expecting three reveals: Mario x Rabbids game, Animal Crossing Switch, and either Metroid or a simple Kirby game. I am not sure about Kirby but they seem to be all-in on the guy lately.

schuelma

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Didn't watch the ARMS part, I'm talking about Reggie said MO will be big part of it. Did I miss something? o.0

He said there were going to be a number of reveals, first looks, etc, and would be fast paced. Nothing he said implied one game would take up nearly half the time

I feel like they're gonna Announce during the Spotlight and Expand during Treehouse, but that'd be too logical for Nintendo. So they'll probably mix and match

I did like the April direct speedy format and glad they're going with quick and to the point. Only thing I didn't like was seeing the headlines before they got there. Kinda spoiled it a little.

As I have said, yes, Zelda won GOTS and went on to become one of the best games ever.

But what if you are not a fan of Zelda?

This year might be a repeat of that, but with Mario instead.

There are more Mario fans than Zelda though.

Besides, we already know they are going to show more than just Mario.

They need to like make it a generic blurb until the footage starts playing unless it's old

Of course not, stating such a thing is pretty dumb. Just wanted to say for people not into games like that switch line up looks pretty barren. I meant that it show how much third party matters to how rich libary, sry was not clear on that.

I would like:
Mario Odyssey gameplay - not much, but some. I'm already sold.
ARMS - DLC stuff shown for July
Splatoon 2 - SP trailer
Animal Crossing Switch
Pikmin 4 - maybe but with Hey! Pikmin! coming, probably not
Metroid - doubt it but I'll always cling to it
Mario Maker port - I absolutely think this is perfect for Switch
Star Fox Zero port - yup, try again but fix the controls
Zelda DLC full reveal (both packages)

I'll be cool with some indies as well. I am not expecting much. With Zelda, ARMS, Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, and Odyssey, I am more than happy with my Switch already.

We already had a full reveal for the first Zelda DLC, and I honestly don't expect we'll see anything at e3 for the second
