It's difficult to compare since you can technically underperform the Xbox One X/PS4 Pro GPU and still get better real world performance due to the weak CPU.
People will still just try and simplify it down to teraflops.

What is 'Xbox One X performance'? The thing is not out yet, we don't know how it performs and we don't have any actual data to evaluate its performance
The Ark dev said that the X1X was roughly equivalent to a PC with a GT1070 and 16GB.
Not only that but they're buying parts at retail prices. MS isn't paying retail prices for the stuff going into their box. They have contracts with suppliers and vendors and pay based on quantity, etc.
If the cost of the off the shelf PC parts costed what MS paid per item it would be much easier. Not only that but isn't the XOX going to sell at a loss initially?
All 3 consoles combined couldn't match the amount of exclusives that the PC has.Meanwhile, Microsoft World struggles to Build The List of Exclusives that PC has available. There are different tradeoffs for any system. PC tends to save you money on the backend if you hunt for deals so overall it's still the best deal going if you're a hardcore enthusiast.
Destiny 2 has already been shown to play at 4k/60fps with cards available now. Mean while before the XBX even comes out it is known to be 4k/30fps.Duh?
You're not getting the same performance and hardware for the same price right now.
Matching the same "hardware" is near impossible price wise. As is 4k/60 in the games that will run at that on X1X. Maybe by the end of the year.
Either the vendors are releasing new high performance budget cards, or some PC enthusiast can make high-end graphics cards in his basement if that's true.
I'm not even a PC guy, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that the PC community will figure out a build that'll match, and even surpass the XBONEX by November.

and they missed the 8 gig ssd for OS install
Pretty much. If we could get parts at bulk cost price I don't see how it'd be too difficult to match the specs.Yeah, we'll buy parts at consumer price and try to match a custom built system with business prices. Oh, we didn't manage to? What a shock.
Agree with this just didn't bother wasting my breath. It's certainly at a loss. They care more about MAU and the ecosystem then hardware imo. That's where their revenue is.That is a bullshit PR answer though, because it is either sold at a profit or loss. They did not cost it perfectly to its price tag in multiple regions, because that is actually impossible to do. He may mean that the loss or profit is small and so they see it as even, but it assuredly is one or the other. I believe it is fairly obvious which.
Of course it's difficult. Every fucking pieces of hardware has a profit cut from not only the manufacturer but the seller too. Add these up with no mass production, it's very hard to compare.
Also very hard (on dignity) to go so low CPU wise.
I don't doubt this but I'd be more impressed if they could manage to do this and fit it into a case thats as compact as the X. The ones in the PC world article kind of miss the point there too, those bulky ass cases aren't going to fly in a lot of living room setups. Haven't checked PC cases in a while but even the smaller ones are much bigger than the X.
It's possible. I mean the difference is already only $100 or so with six months to go.
Will they bollocks. It isn't physically possible given the R&D and engineering that has gone into the device. Why is this even a point of Contention?
Another one that misses the UHD drive & gamepad.
Exactly thisXbonex is tremendous value for someone that wants a high end game machine that just works

Fuck that, the Zaber Sentry looks so damn sexy in black. They have ones specifically made for living room setups that are compact. They just don't have as much expandability

I normally like the PC crowd, but some of you sure are insecure when powerful consoles hit the market.
But how much do I have to spend on a console in order to play destiny 2 at 60fps?
Didn't they recently publicly say they're not selling at a loss or profit?
This. You can already play Destiny 2 at 4k/60fps on PC. The damn box hasn't even come out yet but it's clear you can't do that. Can't argue power so let's argue power/cost then! But how much do I have to spend on a console in order to play destiny 2 at 60fps?

Yes, out of the box hardware as of right now seems like great value, especially when you consider the small form factor of the device. Of course the PC has other benefits such as the option to upgrade in the future and an array of cheap games and 'exclusives', but this thread is simply about the value of the hardware in the box.
