GOP Poised To Strip Medically Necessary Care For Transgender Troops (Up: Defeated)

This is horrible and downright mean.

Just want to add that Jared Polis recently announced he's running for Governor of Colorado.

This is why I fucking hate the GOP, and why I'm fucking disgusted when I see some of my other fellow transgender people who are pro-GOP.

In the US, where people cannot even afford to go to a regular check-up, let alone get their cancer treated, if you are in military, you get a hormone treatment, that is only required form a psychological point of view? I guess, when you get sick, best thing is to join military asap.

You're mistaking him for that other guy with the same name as their god. The god they actually follow hates minorities and LGBT people more than even they do. Oh, and that god *also* thinks that the poor are they way they are because they don't worship him enough.
Oh, I thought we were talking the god Yahweh who asks for homosexuals to be killed by the stone. Which one are we actually discussing?

:( This is very sad and disgusting that there's pro-GOP transgender Americans, don't they know that the GOP is highly discriminatory? I hate living in America where we have a political party who is highly discriminatory and misogynistic.

This seems like a "Well, we can't fuck up healthcare, so let's go after the LGBT to clean up our military!" thing.

Fucking GOP.

Ye-up. It's a travesty that Caitlyn Jenner is our most well-known figure. People being in a repressed minority does not stop them from being idiotic fuckwads...

Government employees tend to have pretty good health insurance.

That's the pro-soldier party for ya

They don’t think so: Trump is four points net negative in the military base towns according to Gallup.

But whatever. This is the same nonsense that Republicans do when they protect churches from dealing with queers, or when their judges try to roll back marriage rights. They are doing an excellent job keeping LGBTQ Americans apart like “the old days,” when a lot of us really did live away from the rest of the mainstream.

That’s fine. Just don’t send for us when you “need” us or “care” about us. I just think the integrationist center of the queer American community is going to have trying times every time they get forced out of the conversation by reactionary decisions like this.

Fucking sweet!

Even the peeps who some how want to protect this fuck awful place are being fucked over.

Damn like I don't bat an eye when you try to take things from those Trans folk like me who say fuck this country but goddess leave the souls who live and bleed for it alone damn.

Hartzler amendment to bar gender reassignment therapy for servicemembers is DEFEATED 214-209.

I hate Repubs most of the time but I love those 24 people right now and thank them from the bottom of my heart for doing the right thing.

Yeah. I'd have to look into it, but at least these people currently look like they could actually be for supporting the troops instead of just giving lip service.

Excuse me?
What's so difficult to understand? If immediate, physical life necessities are not even covered for most of the populace, it surprises me, that people who are working in military get treatments, that are only necessary from a psychological point of view, because physically, they would not be required to have hormone therapies to prevent immediate damage (or death, as in the case of cancer). Granted, many transgender people commit suicide, even moreso if they do not get treatments, but I am just legit surprised that these kinds of concerns are covered by a standard insurance given by the state presumably to all military personell, when at the same time, they do not even see the need to have an affordable, required health insurance for the general populace that at the very least guarantees everyone gets all treatments that are immediately necessary to prevent untimely death.

This is sad, but legitimately how many soldiers wouls this affect? Roughly 6,000 out of 1.5 million.

I feel like we read so much about trans rights relative to the enormous harm the GOP are doing (for example) to 10s of millions of poor Americans. This is a tiny problem, and it turns average people off when the Left chooses to focus on it.

To my understanding: None, because the proposed change was voted against.

Then they really didn't care because making sure they have the care they need absolutely doesn't take away from the 10s a millions of Americans getting the care they need.

Such a weird way to look at it.

The right introduced the amendment to strip it, and it's about the left all of a sudden?

Edit: Not strip, deny, by the look of it. Point still stands.

Most of those Republicans represent districts Hillary won. They want to save their asses, not to protect transgender troops. Don't give them too much credit.

Know what turns people off more "Fuck your concerns and troubles, I want the bigot votes".

Those people keep voting GOP and they keep getting "Real Americans staring off in the distance" articles every week

You realize that people can focus on more than one thing at a time? And that choosing to fuck over 6,000 people for no reason is more than worthy of looking at?

The left that turns their back on civil rights issue is the left that deserves to lose each and every single time.

Oh fuck off it man. Those dumb trans folks need to stop trying to get care when they have been discriminated against for decades? Who gives a fuck if it turns people off. You're no fucking better than the GOP with that fuck you got mine attitude. Disgusting

It's not like this is the main focus of the Democratic Caucus. They voted against a shitty amendment, which is their job.

I don't know how to react to this? 24 Republicans voted against it? I honestly feel like I should go home and hug my wife and children, because the end must be nigh.

What an odd thing to work towards. Like how do you wake up in the morning and say this is where you want your work to go towards today? How bizarre.
Demonizing the "others" for a "sin" no one in attendance is likely to have committed is common tactic in southern baptist churches and therefore a key component of the Republican platform.

Fuck praising these degenerates for choosing to do the right thing this one time. They were the ones to bring this up in the first place. It's like praising your attacker for not attacking you even though they shoved the knife in your face in the fairst place.

Being in the military is a job, and that job provides health coverage.

That has really nothing to do with the general population.

Btw the economics of trans rights caused the most significant win for the Democrats in the 2016 election cycle.

But sure throw us under the bus

the democrats can't make the republican controlled congress pass a health insurance bill that isn't utter horseshit. but you know what they could do with some help from some republican congress members? kill a shitty amendment to stop discrimination against transgender service members.

This can't surely csnt cost enough to remotely warrant being reviewed as a cost cutting measure.

Unless you have an ulterior motive of course.

They're so against trans they'd literally go after those in military service?
