I think it's time to shed the idea that Street Fighter V is a bad game.

So EVO numbers on ESPN 2 are out. Approximately 180,000 people watched on there and if we add it with Twitch and YouTube numbers, which was 235,000 viewers, it averages out to be 415,000 people watching the top 8 of SFV. Truly a dead and trash game.

SF4 was not trashed at launch. You had a bunch of the old guard who didn't take to it right away for it's various changes, reluctance towards the ultra system, and the focus attacks. That and the cast for Arcade was fairly small. The Console SF IV launch was glorious and a tons of fun. The GameStop tournament was a lot of fun. Those same people, most I'd say, drank the SF 4 kool aid and it's been a hell of a ride since.

I guess on the casual level it was pretty well liked, but I remember there being a ton of vitriol directed towards the tournament scene. It wasn't until Super where people really got into SF4.

Women (and men) have nipples. People who wear tight clothing have visible nipples. At least it makes sense in Cammy's case, whether you like her original costume or not. I don't see how that's a big deal in a T-rated game no less. Turn on the TV and you see women's nipples through shirts everywhere.

There's thing thing called bras that women wear for comfort that obscure nipples. I mean, they removed it for a reason because it was hilariously shameless.

Seeing pokies is horrific but another game where you rip someone in half with all their guts falling out while they scream is "AWESOME!"

You're actually going to rely on this garbage false equivalence in 2017?

They removed them because they probably looked awkward in the cinematic story.

Why is it a problem for guys to show nips but not girls anyway? Like, not just in games, but societally. Guys go everywhere shirtless in public yet women can't even breastfeed without catching flack.

Numbers are not out yet and I'm not sure if they will release them soon. But I'll update if that happens.

It's slightly down from 2016. But unlike last year Disney XD also broadcasted it.

Yep. It was slightly down but we have to remember the Twitch numbers were significantly up from last year and that Disney XD broadcasted SFV too. That's why I found that article strange as it seemed like they couldn't understand why the numbers were down when it's clear as day.

3 of them are in top 8 constantly. Your not going to see characters like Ken, Ryu, Nash, Alex and a few others outside of specialist.

Jab AA and Throw Loops are not part of the problem in the game balance? As well as some Crush Counters that has high Priority and is Safe/Plus?

Lol yeah oK.

Maybe because the players are good playing those 3 characters?

Jab AA need to be fixed and throw loops are powerful but that doesn't make SFV hugely unbalanced or bad. I fear when Capcom remove jab AA, people will shit on Capcom because they are used to them and everyone will complain why everyone is jumping non stop like bugs bunny.

You are acting like only SFV has 50/50 situations. cheap moves and op characters lol

Awkward, shameless same difference. Point is, i'm floored that they okay'd it. Like, this isn't even niche anime fighter #30 either, it's modern Street Fighter.

I dunno man, google it or something. There's plenty of information about the societal double standard when it comes to nipples. If I had to guess, it's probably because female nipples are still considered lewd, while male nipples aren't.

sorry for saying the following, but I don't care about arcade mode, I want a mode where you can destroy different cars/tanks (co-op too ) and you get fight money for it :)

No shit, I'm asking why such is still the case.

I don't give a shit about Arcade mode either but anything to stop the constant moaning and whining (who am I kidding) from some people is a plus. I just want a SSFV update so it's a more efficient and wholesome product for myself that's all, don't give a toss about anyone else to be honest.

Didn't it have like 3000 less entrants than last year? I think that says a decent amount

2,500 less. Last year over 5000 players was a huge anomaly so there was no way anything would have topped that this year. Not even T7 or Injustice could top it, hell they couldn't even top SFV entrants this year, and they were recently released too.

Nah it's pretty awful.

- Lack of characters
- Overpriced DLC
- 'Free' stuff not feasible for people who only play now and then.
- Lack of content.
- Shitty matchmaking system
- Shitty netcode
- Shitty character moveset redesigns

That not getting into the issues with the combat.

People hated SFIV when it first came out too, and over time Capcom fixed most of the problems and now people love it.

Actually SF3 was pretty bad when it first came out too and people complained about that.

See where this is going...

It had a little over half as many entrants.

Still, at 2,622 players it was the 2nd largest Street Fighter tournament ever.

(And 3rd largest fighting game tournament ever with 40 fewer entrants than last year's Smash 4 tourney)

I won't address the subjective criticisms because that's pointless but the FM system is entirely feasible for people who play occasionally. Unless 5 minutes a week is too much for people only playing "now and then".

Again, 90% of FM isn't earned playing online consistently. People get it doing the extremely easy single player stuff and the extremely easy weekly challenges. You get 5k FM a week basically for sweeping a character.

- Shitty matchmaking system
- Shitty netcode
- Shitty character moveset redesigns

- Shitty post.

- Lack of characters: Now it has 25 characters and next week 26.

- Overpriced dlc: You mean prime costumes and the CPT stage? lol

Free' stuff not feasible for people who only play now and then: what do you expect? you don't want to play the game regularly and you want to get everything free or easy. Also, every Friday there is free fight money and you can get fight money from single player content. So you can get free stuff if you don't play the game every day.

- Shitty matchmaking system and Shitty netcode: No, it has improved a lot especially with the new CFN update.

- Shitty character moveset redesigns: This is subjective, but no :)

I had stream and TV up at the same time, sry some of the numbers are going to be off as to total number of viewers watching.,..

The single player stuff is not repeatable and the survival is only easy on the bottom two difficulties unless you get really good with every single character, and 5k a week? Wow! Only about 4 and half months to earn a character!

But you don't have to buy them. You can earn fight money to get them, too.

My issue with this is that if you do want to buy stuff, a lot of the DLC feels overpriced...and then there's the odd color items that you can't buy outright and can only use fight money to unlock.

The FM system is only good if you play shitloads, if you don't you ain't getting much for free. Playing local 2P gets you nothing so if that is what you like the FM system literally useless.

The character passes are a rip off, 6 characters for £25 if you want them on release, SSFIV on disc the base game and 10 new characters was £25, AE 4 characters £12, Ultra 5 characters £12.

The new costumes you cannot get free and have to pay, one costume costs the same as a costume pack in SFIV series, and as far as I know they don't get sales like SFIV's did.

It's just horrible value all round and something that belongs in a free to play game, not a £40 one.

I literally picked up the game on PC from my cousin's steam share yesterday and got enough BP to unlock two characters within a matter of hours. Sure, if you want to get every character you're going to have to grind and get better at the game, but if there's two or three characters that you REALLY want, you can get them quickly. So uh, you're being disingenuous.

I will say that the premium costumes are expensive, but nobody is forcing you to buy those cosmetic items, and you can still get all the stages (outside of Capcom Cup stages) and most of the costumes with FM.

The only game that went up was T7. Price of attendance almost tripled this year.

We're talking minute drops for some the games your lumping SFV with. SFV lost more entrants than every game combined at EVO.

SFIV launched on consoles with 25. A year later had 35.

No, I just want to pay for it all at prices not meant for mugs. SFIV prices in comparison in an above post.

SFV a rip off.

Then it got 10 characters added a year later. 2 new characters, 7 fan favorites, and Deejay.

If you complain about the first bold part, you certainly did not spend time with the game to complain about the second bold part.

Getting FM for at least 1-2 characters is very, very easy. And anyone can do weekly missions by playing the game for 30 minutes.

The single player stuff is not repeatable and the survival is only easy on the bottom two difficulties unless you get really good with every single character, and 5k a week? Wow! Only about 4 and half months to earn a character!

It's not like the system doesn't work, they thought about people like you. You want to abuse said system and want everything for free.

Playing locals granting FM. No way that will be abused.
Repeating SP stuff. No way that will be abused.

The character passes are a rip off, 6 characters for £25 if you want them on release, SSFIV on disc the base game and 10 new characters was £25, AE 4 characters £12, Ultra 5 characters £12.

The issue with SF IV series is that if I wanted one character, I needed to buy the whole bundle. Hell, if I didn't wanted any character I still would have to buy it because of the balancing.

And now I can get characters I want and even for free, it's somehow bad.

If price is too much, wait. S1 pass is already down in price.

I'm in page 8 but this thread has been a laugh.

I'm seriously considering making a How to Earn FM thread that's a re-jiggered version of the one in Gamefaqs because all this whining over 'waaa, you can only esrn money from online ' is so laughable.

Hello from page 12. You will have a lot more sensible chuckles and laughs along the way to here I assure you.

And I was at a viewing party with more than a dozen other people. How many attendees were there in the arena on Sunday? If anything the number of actual viewers is probably even greater.

First of all the game is cheap now so you won't buy it at full price. Last month SFV with season 1 and 2 was on sale for 40 dollar.

At least you have an option to get for example a season 3 character next year with fight money instead of paying real money. There is no fighting game other than SFV that give you this option. If you play Injustice 2 for example every day, you can't get Sub Zero with in game currency.

But it actually launched in arcades, and it took 2 years to get to 35.

2 years in, SFV won't have 35, but it should have 29 or 30, and hit 34 before year 3.

So they're pretty much neck and neck with character count.

Why doesn't the deluxe edition get you everything? Why does capcom still charge extra for costumes and stages? It's bad business practices especially when the game launched so undercooked.

That the lumping the crator of entrants for SFV with the small drops of other games is dishonest.

Okay.

I think its kind of like the Wii U. Its not a bad game by any stretch of the world but it made such a bad first impression and may never recover from it.
The Wii U was, and still is, a bad console. It has some spectacular games that I love, but it's still a terrible console mostly because of nintendos desperate attempt for a Wii 2.0.

Yeah you get the first couple pretty easy, once the one time earn content is done it's a grind. I don't really care about the FM system though because when I play I don't even get to earn any in the modes I play, I just want to buy stuff not ridiculously overpriced so can play with my buds all content available. Like I've done in every SF game ever.

SFIV series was just better in everything it did. People can bitch about Super being a forced disc update but that still had better value that almost two of SFV's season passes combined.

Those costumes are created as microtransactions to further fund development of the game. They wouldn't be made or at least a large portion of them wouldn't have been made otherwise. SFV is a "games as a service" type thing. You aren't ever meant to own every bit of content unless you whale extremely hard.

Still waiting for a version of this game with all the content on the disc for one price. Until that happens, no buy.

Won't ever happen.
