Gundam Versus |OT| The World, Western release out now!

There's a lot they'd be leaving on the table in terms of money and I don't trust NB to do so.

Were the addons for Force paid?

Kinda crazy to see so many DLC units in such a short time. With Phantom and Nightingale that would be 10 already. 2 Short of what SFV got in 2 years, more than what Injustice 2 got announced and that in a timespan of 3 months.
Gundam Versus is about to become the very definition of nickel and diming in fighting game space, especially with that pricing.

The western version of Force got eveything free as updates. I have no hope of it happening with Gundam Versus.

You haven't seen anything yet. I fully expect 50+ DLC units at $6 a piece. How could they do a season pass if that's $300 in content?

Playing the Trial version at the moment. Which I believe is basically a beta?

Seems interesting thus far!

Wish the Strike Freedom was in the game rather than just the regular Freedom.

Weird hearing Kira yelling in Japanese when I just got done rewatching both seasons of SEED in english.

Just got put in the laggiest match. Literal slideshow and the connection was so bad it ended the match prematurely.

Match before that was super smooth though.

The HUD in this is only barely less cluttered than in Dissidia NT lol

Man I like the Freedom but I feel like it's a bit weak compared to the others. It's blasts are super strong no doubt but it can be really hard to hit them. Even when you knock someone down they easily get up and dodge.

It's blaster travel speed is really slow and since it doesn't really hone in on the target it's very easy to dodge.

Man, I really like using Graham's Flag.

Feel like I did pretty decent with Freedom and Unicorn. Probably should practice with Exia, some dude using G-Self kicked my ass.

tried Free battle, CPU kicked my ass, tried couple of Trial batles, i won few matches but i had no idea what i'm doing, the fights seems complicated and i couldn't enjoy it at all

not really sure why they don't put tutorial in this beta, that would help someone who new to this game like me (even though i'm familiar with the anime such as Gundam 00, seed and seed destiny)

any advise how noob like me approach this game ?, i really want to like this game

To new players, movement is key. Conserving boost is key. You wanna conserve as much boost as possible when you land so you can escape - the more boost you use up when you land, the more recovery frames you gotta deal with. And overheating obviously isn't something you want to happen.

Yeah this shit is crazy. Really souring me on the game.

Had an amazing time with the demo today. Convinced 3 friends to try it out and LAN it up. An all nighter just playing shuffle party, and just like that they plan pick up when it comes out :D

Of the four matches I played, I got disconnected from one right at the beginning and another was so laggy it was basically a slideshow. When lag wasn't an issue I actually had a lot of fun, so hopefully they're able to iron things out.

I've just been messing around with a bunch of suits in training mode, haha. I have no idea how to tell what's strong or not. Any suggestions about what to start with? Cheap ones, expensive ones?

Also, how do you put a different pilot in a robot?

Yeah they could really have done with putting a tutorial in the beta. I've had some success online with the Kshatriya, but i think that's largely down to a lot of people not knowing what they're really doing :p

The boss battles in survival are cool - we had to take down two Psyco Gundams which was quite tough!

Haven't been able to play so far, hopefully I'll be able to get some time in tomorrow. Does the demo let us set up rooms? Was looking forward to a GAF room or something

As for dlc, so far I'm looking at Baund Doc and Phantom, it's so perfect. The transformation in the win animation is ludicrously good.

So far the beta is super fun. The lag can be atrocious though, one on one fights so far have been ok for the most part, but if one person in 2v2 or 3v3 has a shit connection, it bogs down into a slideshow.

Also the Jesta is fun as hell to play, that dodge shot is great.

Edit: one major complaint though: there is a massive lack of info about the controls. It took me only about a minute or so to figure out the dashes, but I wouldn't expect anyone going in to expect taps for dashes instead of a button dash.

The beta is a ton of fun. I am really enjoying it because since playing the Japanese version and getting rocked most of the time there, it is nice to fight people who are at least my level or lower in terms of skill. But at the same time I hope people learn by battling tough opponents like I did so that they can increase their skills as well.

I recommend starting with lower cost suits if you are new. Even if the higher cost suits are cooler they also incur a higher cost for your team if you are not that good so you will lose quite a bit. In terms of different pilots it depends on the suit and you unlock them based on the GP points and the level of that suit. But that will be not be until the full game comes out.

Saw this on reddit, someone put together a 5-part player's guide for Gundam Versus. Should cover everything you need to know.

Here's Part 1:

Agreed! While I have a pretty good idea of what's going on due to previous games and all the sweet tutorials out there, I don't expect anyone new jumping in and having a single clue of what to do to be effective. That is really going to hurt the long term success.

Been playing with Barbatos and am starting to get the hang of his style, he's fun to play. Thankfully I've only had one match DC, but the rest have been pretty smooth connection-wise.

Is there going to be a beta thread or should we just discuss here?

Glad to see the Controls in the OP.
Started the Beta and didn't really know what I'm doing (which is not bad at all). Never played a Gundam VS game before, but i feel at home, because i love Arena / Full 3D Fighting games. Feels like playing a different Dragon Ball Raging Blast game.

Was happy when I discovered the two guys from Thunderbolt, which I watched recently.

I have been noticing lots of Exias and Barbatos' out there. I guess probably because people know those suits more from the shows since they are more recent. Barbatos is a good suit and Exia does have that clutch mode but I hope to see more variety in people's choices later on.

I'm getting really tired of hearing the Crossbone theme as the only battle song in the trial. It's a nice little piece, but man, it gets old QUICK.

Cool, thanks. Kinda enjoying Kshatriya and red Qubeley for now, which should be fine at 300 pts.

Vigna Ghina is cute too. It's so tiny!

I do like Gotrlatan though..

Really excited to see Western players. So far my games have had a lot of very new players but it's been really fun. Had some really dominant X2 games and even had a perfect already.

BTW, if you're not sure what Strikers to choose, Brett suggested the following as "must haves", so they're really good choices to start with:
Gold Sumo (Turn-A)
Kimaris Trooper (IBO)
One gerobi* type (HS/ksha/wtv)
Guntank (0079)
Doan (0079)
Dreissen (F91)

*Gerobis are those large beam attacks.

Thank you! Was just wondering about this.

I hope they make the logo text bigger. I already cant read the Japanese logos as is lol

The way I've been playing, I need like a 100 cost Gundam lol

Thanks for this tip! I had switched to one of the higher cost suits thinking it just meant I had more health, didn't realize it affected the score.

If you're new, I'd recommend trying out Gold Sumo and X2. Both are good at supporting front suits but they can hold their own if needed. Gold's got some follow-ups to his shot that let him flip plus a good, long stun in his whip. X2 has armor from beam shots with his cloak on, and his charge shot has good range and stuns which lets you do his gerobi for free or just save a teammate who is getting harrassed. They're not very expensive either.

Dreissen is in the Unicorn line. My personal fave when using a long range unit.

Dom + Dreissen is my #1 pick still. Hit them with the striker to stun (which most new player will not be able to dodge) and them hot with the neutral jet stream summon for like 5 bazooka shots in the face. Easy to land without much risk.

Yeah I just saw that LOL I just copied his tweet without checking myself

I second that notion about the Gold Sumo. It is a fantastic unit to start with. The I-Field bunker will be your best tool. I am still shocked that the Gold Sumo is not a 400 cost unit seeing how versatile it really is.

Are there any import guides that I can follow? Just got a PS4 (my first Sony console in like 15 years) and I'd like the version of the game that has the vocal tracks intact. I figure I won't have that much of a difficult time navigating the menus and such since I used to play Gundam Extreme Versus in my buddy's dorm all the time.

Didn't try G-Arcane in the JP beta, she's really fun. Think I'll throw her in my rotation of suits. Really easy to punish landings and save teammates with AC. Was just on a 25 game win streak before I stopped playing.

Question, is there no 'duplicates' in matchmaking?

I've noticed every match every player is playing a unique mobile suit.

If so, I really like that. Makes it feel more fun than seeing 2 Unicorns and so on.

I had an Exia mirror match in 1v1 so yeah there are duplicates.

It was a great match, we both got down to the Exia Repair mode at the very end.

Ah.

Getting more of a hang to the game.

I think I might get this!

Wish there was a dub but what can ya do.

One small think I like is that when you activate the Gears on Freedom, it shows Kira but also Lacus.

Ah man! I just won a 2v2 by shooting Kira's all out attack at the Exia from super long away and nailed him!

When you activate Freedom's gear it is actually Flay and it only occurs at full bar gear activation. But I can see people thinking it is Lacus.

Really? May have something to do with the 'same face' that SEED sometimes has lol (also red hair vs pink hair).

That does seem odd... Though I suppose it makes sense. After all they did have that weird 'celestial' experience in Episode 49(?). That might make more sense if she's watching over him.

Well, if they ever release Strike Freedom, maybe that will be Lacus.

I do like hearing the SEED activation when you use the Gear.

By the way, what's the best Gear for the Freedom? Blaze or Lighting?

That depends. If the suit is a Fighter/Various-F pick Blaze gear. If it is Shooting/Various-S type pick Lightning Gear. If it is straight Various you can really pick either type of gear just depends on your play style. Blaze is more for up close while Lightning is more for far away.

Edit:Also a tip for new players when the target reticule is yellow with a line through it you cannot attack that person. I am seeing quite a number of people trying to still attack while I am down.

What does the Zero System and L2 move do for Sandrock (the one where his Shotel glow and he charges forward, but not the grab)?

Also, can you get AI to fill in for private matches in the full game, because I'm in the UK, and I have a feeling that this is going to be dead online in a month or so over here?

I'm enjoying it so far, but not being able to play with friends on the beta unless you can get 4 people together is rough.

I just want to thank the Japanese players for wrecking me these past two months. That's the best training i could've asked for. I've gone from losing 80% of my matches against them to winning 80% of my matches in this NA beta. Feels good man

They needed the tutorial to be in the beta.

At the moment it's easy to tell who played the Japanese release when they're doing all of this crazy shit and are near impossible to hit.

The controls menu doesn't really help.

Also yeah, the Freedom needs to be buffed in terms of speed of doing stuff.

It takes far too long to do well, anything on him. Even 'bigger' characters can do circles around him.
