So any experienced wheel users gonna help me out i'm pretty newish to the wheel but did manage a couple of #1s but it never felt right on pc1 compared to F1 n DR, I found pc1 easier on a pad lol. G920 user, will it be ok straight off the bat or is there recommended settings ?

Anybody been able to preload via PSN yet? Mine seems to still not be working

I haven’t been able to preload either. I’ve been searching around and apparently the developer has stopped any preloading/downloading until it releases tonight. This is according to Sony’s customer service.

Disable any dampening effect in game. Spring (or centering) should be low, but not 0. Turn down curb and collision effects.

Honestly, the best thing to do is try to establish a baseline, then change 1, ONE!, thing at a time and see if that helps the undesirable effects.

This was my go-to resource when I was trying to get a handle on sim racing in general:

http://www.drivingfast.net/

Helped out a ton (especially the section on the racing line), and opened up a whole new world for me.

And the nice thing about real world tracks is there are videos out there of drivers walking the course, identifying braking points, special features and pitfalls to watch out for, tactics for attacking certain segments, etc. Never grew up watching motorsport, so games and the videos I used to get a handle on techniques have been my window in.

To add to this, I highly suggest picking up a copy of Ross Bentley's Ultimate Speed Secrets: The Complete Guide to High-Performance and Race Driving

Obviously applies to real life as well. That book pretty much covers everything.

I think for a beginner, he should do what fresquito said, switch the FFB setting to the informative "flavor" and do the calibration, drive for a few laps, once it figured things out, make a judgement if it's ok for now and play the game. Do the indepth FFB tweaking later. But then, sure, the scientific method, isolating variables, understanding what they do is the way to go. It also helps to know in advance what an ideal FFB feels like for you.

Edit: I think this Driver61 youtube channel is not bad either. Sometimes I wish he'd get to the point faster and be more indepth. But I still think he does a good job with his drawing board explanations. You can tell he gave driver coaching courses in real life too.

Wheel users should do most important thing in options menu: adjust sensitivity (which is linearity) to 100 from defaulted 50.

Also, I can't understand why is linearity set to 50 at all for default.

Also, Fanatec users should set their SEN value to OFF for any wheel they are using. Also, I would persobally recommend having SPR to 1, while having all other effects to OFF or O.
Thanks Amar.
When does this unlock on Steam? My preload is done but I'm up at six in the a.m. so won't have long tonight, then am busy all weekend.

I would not do that, 50 is linear(steering input of your own wheel and in game 100% the same, match) and at 100 it becomes overly sensitive (almost all input in the first bit you turn the steering wheel, sluggish in the last part.

Guys I need help playing with a DS4 and it's undriveable...
I use dpad for steering and X and square for acceleration and braking.
I've just done loads of laps with the McLaren 650S GT3 on Imola and I'm ~2 seconds off the world record right now. I popped in Project CARS with the McLaren 12C GT3 and I matched that record on my first attempt.

Controller response is definitely more unforgiving this time. Kerbs seem less manageable too.

Did you watch/race the #1 is he vollying the chicane, 4 seconds seems alot.

Thanks for clearing that up! It's the same on RaceRoom, 50 is 1:1 full range and also default.
Actually I think even in Forza 50 is default and 1:1.

That's good, pCARS1 was a bit on the fast side. Faster than all the other games, even GT6.

Day One buyer here i just have a question i cant wait to find out. Is the chase camera, height customizable? Can i move it up so i can see a bit of my hood front? I love roof camera but it would be perfect to have a second alternative i learn to love through gta driving.

I won't tell you how to play your games, but please give interior cam a serious chance. You will drive faster!

Yeah it's one of those things that goes back to I think early ISI games. And it only makes sense if you know that.

They had plans/ideas to change that menu (think animated graph/ change names), but as most with those "minor annoyances" , other things end up with higher priority when release date gets close.

I'm by the way not say you should no change it, people with special pedals (loadcells) do, just explained what it meant ;)

weird - thanks for the update though

EDIT: just tried it again and it works now FYI

Found 1st bug:
On ps4 the helmet doesn t appear even if is turned on( in test mode, community trials and fast race, it works in Career mode.i have not Tried other modes)

Video with evidence. In the end of the video https://youtu.be/dY5-jTBfv0g
Not a bug, per se. It works the same as in PC1. The FOV also affects the helmet, so with a low FOV the helmet doesn't show because it's behind the screen, so to say.

Took me little under 10 minutes to find a RAW FFB flavor setting I could live with, another 20 minutes to find something I really, really like. Think I can get it to feel even better tomorrow...
just came here to say that I'm 100% not refunding this game and personally... I think I like the FFB better than Assetto Corsa's, it's not as damp... doesn't feel like giant rubber bushings in the steering arms. I wouldn't say the tire and suspension model is quite as good as the other upper tier sims, still has something from pCARS1, but I really like the feedback so far!

And I like the AA, whatever the standard setting for my system was. Track limit lines look to sharp in many sims and only really get smoother with supersampling because the AA doesn't cut it. pCARS1 had this issue for me too. Looks much better now.

Super happy with it now. Did encounter a bug already though. Only touched the pit-entry line at Oulton Park, started auto pit limiter even though I didn't enter the pits, didn't know how to turn it off again, remained on even after I returned to the pits, had to restart session.

Turn Manual Pis on.

Edit: Small workaround for those wanting to use the virtual mirror in cockpit view: configure the Lite HUD as it's the Cabin HUD and use that as default. The Cabin HUD doesn't save the virtual mirror, no matter what you have in the Options

Damnit my game is still "unpacking" on steam, has been for over an hour and a half. What's the point of pre-loading if it takes that long to unpack it.

Well, in the end once I got the wheel settings sorted I was having fun @ imola in the 488 gt3... and I usually do crap there!

That was on the ps4 version, pc one has downloaded so I'll be mixing it up on there tomorrow.

Sharing our wheel/ffb settings might be handy for some as well.

Got my new Fanatec CSW v2.5 and everything setup today, been enjoying pCARS1 quite a bit. What's the verdict on wheel performance and feel, p1 vs p2?

Oh man, this game runs like a dream and looks absolutely beautiful on PC.

The current Steam reviews are BRUTAL. Not sure if we have the same product installed.

54% of 57 user reviews are positive.

After installing just quickly tried out one of the Community launch events. For those that need something to chase, have a go. Mine after few laps was 1.35.00 (yep could not resist a post after such a nice round number) Shame that the Live track tech is not part of the replays (at least quick ones), so track is a lot wetter than it looks in replay.

Replay video Sugo in the rain Nissan Skyline GT-R (1.35.00) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMJDdIKiUoY&feature=youtu.be

And now bed time ;)

Really sucks that the preload doesn't seem to be working on PS4. I keep selecting the download option, but it doesn't do anything.

And doesn't unlock for a few hours yet - so with the whole download it looks like I won't get any time with this tonight.

Bummer.

I'll be streaming for a bit on PC.

Just testing cars and tracks, going through the list and trying everything out, always with AI on track at 100% difficulty and 100% aggro. "Real" assists only also.

I'm on discord with a french speaking friend, hope you guys don't mind listening to use talking.

Lol I started career in karts, cause why not. One of the races was a tight track and all the turns had cones. Apparently if you hit a cone in a kart it loses a wheel, so about 3/4 of the racers or so had lost a wheel after the first lap. That was an easy win.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
Any word on when this unlocks for Xbox? midnight eastern? Tomorrow morn?

The countdown page - which previously had an auto download check mark on it - now just had a download button.
Mine still shows the Auto Download checkbox, always unchecked even after I check it. Just doesn't stick.

Made worse because of its mocking listing of the auto download date as 9/19/2017

I can't get the in-game triple screen support to work properly... My right and left screens are completely offset compared to the center.

Anyone else had the same issue ?

Right guys, the OT is coming.

I've had a very busy week with work, much busier than expected but the good news is that I've managed to nab an upgrade with Emirates for my flight to London in a few hours so I'll get everything sorted for the OT while I'm on the flight. It will go up at some point after 9pm UK time tonight.
