Level-5 announces LBX Armored Girls (PC/mobile), drops pretense of dignity

Worked for Medabots!

...oh wait, I guess it didn't.
Hmm. Two disgusting turns of events for me in one thread. I remember the Japanese elementary kids liking Medabots when working at a youth center and I thought it was pretty neat. Now it's degenerate shit.

Thanks internet.

Tbh also don't get how it being a spin-off of a kids' show is a point but also not a point.

That's what is getting to me.

Sure, the game looks like it is going to try and sell on uninspired smut. That isn't a trend in gaming I like. I don't mind racy content in my games--it is inherently problematic and should be approached with your mind somewhat on, but it is also something there should be room to enjoy. But I don't like it being this 'desperate' and 'shallow,' so to speak. I'm making an assumption with the latter, but I think it is a fair one :p.

Perhaps that is just my taste in how I like sexual content delivered to me. I like it in a gameplay/narrative package that I can respect and with similarly 'respectable' art design.

But...beyond this, we're talking launching the next major commercial product in a kids' series on a stire front that kids have easy access to as a 'sexy' game of any stripe that turns the robots into these girls...Jesus.

Sure, kids' cartoons regularly slip in sexual imagery and fan-service. That's...well questionable too. (It is perhaps sexuality propaganda). But even if it weren't questionable that's not this. This is turning a kids' thing into full-on soft-core porno. Not inserting soft-core sexual imagery here and there.

I don't see how this is a non-issue.

The Medabots thread is amazing.

The first images of the game were fairly benign, so you had people arguing this was actually an attempt to market Medabots to young girls and not a skeevy otaku thing.

And then the images of the clothes being blown off hit.

They turned a kids game into this? Why not just make an entirely different IP at this point? Also the artwork and trailer looks really cheap and bad.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Mind you I'm not against fanservice games existing, since I enjoy the existence of Tokyo After School Summoners and Grimoire of Zero for uh... reasons, just stuff like turning a series not known for it into one.

Not like this...

Is Level 5 having trouble finding work?
What? No. They'll keep on pushing more and more cross media franchises until one sticks. They also have a new Inazuma Eleven coming out.

This game is what happens during the in-betweens. When they're transitioning from one potential new high value franchise to the next.
Yokai Watch is dying and Snack World is off to an abysmal start.

Well...that's just disappointing. I liked Danball Senki as a series.
However if you come anywhere near Yokai or - heaven forbid - Inazuma with that shit there, will, be, war.

I feel like my comment from that thread applies just as well to this one.

At least the franchise will end on a high note, then. And by "high note", I mean the squeal of a high school girl getting her clothes blown off.

Seeing people offended over something so benign offended me. There's real issues to worry about, like the three hurricanes, the fact that we're destroying our planet and running out of food and access to clean water, or even the persistent problem of homelessness, and that's just referring to issues on the grand scale and not referring to issues that affect human rights both in the US and abroad.

A game having sexualized women, is imo, not an issue, ever. We are animals, we have sex drives, we have sex appeal, there's no issue here, bar the fact that it's a spin-off of a children's IP, which isn't even really an issue.

I remember you.

You're the guy who went on for pages and pages then days and days explaining why Samus Aran shouldn't be Black.

Sound like the ideal person to instruct us on how to properly allocate our time and concerns.

sigh

Give up. The Dark Cloud franchise was funded by Sony, which co-own and manage the IP. It doesn't seem Sony has an interest in bringing back a 13 years old franchise that didn't sell too well to begin with.

It's genuinely sad that so many Japanese companies are catering strictly to otaku now, I was expecting more from Level 5. What's even sadder is this trash will surely generate more profit than anything they've ever released.

He, somebody knows what happened to that game?

Awaiting for the Inazuma Eleven game where you undress the goalkeeper every time you score a goal.

They're little children.

So it didn't work?

Does that mean I can't expect to get an Inazuma Eleven where I can strip the
male
goalkeeper if I score a goal?

Also just the thought process is sad, beyond just the end-product being disturbing.

The idea that children and mecha otaku are simply not enough to support the brand that they need to pander to moe otaku at the expense of (some portion) of the other audiences despite the evidence given above that a similar move has not worked for other, similar games, says a lot about how Level-5 perceives the Japanese market. A market that they play a part in creating.

Seems fine, but the trailer was just anime. What's the gameplay like?

Edit: Oh it's a browser game. Probably a gacha game too, no thanks. If i'm going to suffer a gacha browser game, I'll at most suffer with Granblue Fantasy since it has cuter girls, cuter boys, and a better artstyle all around.

Clearly

You went on about this for like 3 days

Seems like a game tailor-made for the r/the_donald crowd. Fetishizing submissive girls that express adolescent mannerisms but sonehow framed as sexual objects.

...
WHY?!?
...
You know, games like this should just drop any pretense and just become hentai. It's not like the market they're aiming for is gonna care.

Is level 5 too big for a publisher to buy and set them right? This is like a cry for help.

It's not.

Level-5 earned so much with Yo-kai Watch you can't imagine. At a certain point, the IP was much more profitable than Pokémon in Japan. And while they began developing plenty of other projects, and Yo-kai Watch popularity is much smaller, doesn't seem they are in danger.

This game just looks a bad management decision, just to collect some easy licensing fees, but don't forget that they were developing a maid simulator game in 2011.

Any more info on this? Was it released? Was it more a maid raising and training simulator? Like training several maids in a household?

That would be a neat alternative to a Princess Maker game. Maid Maker.

It was released on mobile. The 3DS version turned into Girls RPG: Cinderella Life. Here some information about it.

People tend to forget but at a certain point Level-5 was much more in trouble than how it is now, as they didn't have those earnings from something like Yo-kai Watch and all their games were hugely flopping or underperforming.
