While im at it, is there any way to change it so that you can go to the home menu with a button combination instead of having to get up and click the reset every time?
By default it's L+R+select+start but you can manually change it to down+select which most people find to be better

added some games to mine alien 3 runs great but Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium has some sound issues

Open Hackchi, Modules, Install Extra Modules, Remove Thumbnails

Canoe (built in SNES classic emulator) doesn't run them. But using the retroarch cores makes them work just fine. Download the retroarch cores from OP, put them in user_mods (don't forget the SNES9x one) folder. Install them through Hakchi with Modules, Install Extra Modules. Put --retroarch at the end of the command line arguments for each game that won't run.

I did this to play super street fighter 2 and after I start the game and press any button, it kicks it back to the home screen....any ideas?

edit: So I flashed it back to the default, then did a custom flash and now its working.

There's actually an Action Replay code to remove the black bar in Chrono Trigger, but if you remove it it turns out its purpose was to hide graphical glitches under it. Interestingly the Final Fantasy VII SNES demo seems to be based on the Chrono Trigger engine because it has similar glitches at the bottom of the field screen.

I have sound issues with some games like Aladdin and The Lion King. Has the emulator problems with PAL roms?

The SNES Mini is designed to run NTSC ROMs, and so PAL ones will exhibit problems. Use NTSC where possible, or apply one of my patches to your PAL ROM to convert it to NTSC. There are two files in there, one for LoROM and one for HiROM. To find out which one you need, open your ROM in Snes9x and it will say at the bottom when it boots.

So to get the original 21 to show without that stupid folder icon I have to hide those games via the FTP instructions and reinstall them all as custom roms?

Make sure your retroarch games aren't converted to the default SNES emu format. You have to instead use the standard .sfc or .srm extension for SNES roms instead. Rename them having an extension of .snes

Retroarch will not recognize .sfrom that the built-in SNES emulator uses.

sorry if it's already been answered, but how does one get all the games on one level (without folders)?

I just followed the guide in the OP which mentions to do this

3a) Optional, but recommended if you aren't doing too many games. Go to Settings, Pages/Folders Structure and pick Disable. ("Too many games" means 63 or more. SNES .

With that I don't have any folders on my SNES Mini Menu, they're just in a line like it is before you add anything.

what is the best (egg) football game from snes, can get the tecmo bowl with updated rosters maybe but i played football on genesis mostly qb club

Sorry to ask again, I'm just looking for a real easy-to-understand answer as to what needs to be done to dump Virtual Console ROMs from the Wii U and its Wii mode. If it's a really difficult process I won't bother but every time I try to look up what needs to happen I seem to only find very partial answers.

Yeah, I got that specific translation of FE4 to work via Retroarch, doesn't work via stock emulator.

Great, thanks. I heard someone mention input latency being an issue with the retroarch emulator, but I don't think it'll be too much of an issue with the games I want to add.

I don't really understand why the fan translation is giving the standard emulator issues when the Japanese game works fine though. As far as I'm aware the translation doesn't do anything funky?

Anyone know what's up with that?

That still retains the “Original 21 folder”.

Edit - NVM.

Edit again - Nope, “Original Games” folder still remains.

Fan translations still technically modify the bytes of the rom data. It seems the built-in SNES emulator expects a certain checksum when loading games. Applying a translation will most certainly change this checksum value.

Another case is Super Street Fighter 2 working in the Super Famicom Classic but not work in the US / EU SNES Classic.

The same issue applies when people remove Secret of Mana to use the Variable Width Font version instead. The hi-res mode works fine in the default built-in rom but using an edited version still loads it just doesn't work with the internal fix the SNES Classic is doing to make the hi-res mode of some SNES games to work.

ah i just remembered this is good reason to play barkley shut up and jam. solid reason to pick it up again after so long.
also what about some good bs party games? dumb games would use 2 player for just to play a few games while surfing between them and drinking. i see some bowling games, which would be best of that, and any recommendations for other 2 controller random pissing contests like that, pool etc? bomberman is cool, it's a bummer you can't use more than 2 controllers tho

ooh college slam. i wonder if can download a save or a hack that just has a mass renaming.

Probably just how they edited the ROM doesn't play well with the stock emu. The older fan translation seemed to work fine with the stock emulator btw.

Not going to lie but this is getting a bit frustrating. I try to connect with WinSCP and it always tells me the SNES is not online.

I can’t access it at all.

Edit - I think I may have got it now.

Edit - Nope, now says it’s not communicating...

Thanks I think the hi-res mode might be a bit of a different matter considering the SNES Classic has to specifically use some internal patch of sorts to get that going, while it shouldn't be expecting either of the FE checksums if I understand this right. But Super Street Fighter 2 is a pretty good example. Seems like the sort of stuff that could get figured out in the future, but I'm not sure people will bother with retroarch being an option.

This is interesting though. I'm under the impression the old translation is a glitchy old thing, while the new one is much cleaner. But it must be doing something the stock emulator doesn't like if it accepts the old one.

This is a worry I have. Hopefully enough people are curious about Canoe itself to keep tinkering, rather than basically giving up.

Man, staying below 240MB is a real challenge. I just finished uploading all my SFC games to it and I was well over (even with compression). A big problem is a lot of translations - especially the earlier ones - really increase the size of the file.

Will have to be really selective as to what I keep on it, or maybe do a rotation every now and then.

Yeah I'd definitely want to use Canoe for everything if possible. Sort of makes the whole thing more appealing to me.

So i uninstalled/reinstalled with 2.2

did I just lose all my stuff I did with rc4? games list is blank and back to default

I didn't start anything outside of beating actraiser so i'm not TOO miffed about it but it still sucks if so

Using a USB3 port? Try it on a USB2 port... I had similar issues and this fixed it

No, just resync the games again.

Yeah I hope people figure it out. I think there enough big games not working right (Seiken Densetsu 3, Terranigma, and a few other fan favorite RPGs) that I would hope some people are invested in fixing them.

That's actually normal in a lot of games. Some games hid it with black borders, other games didn't, but they were still hidden by the overscan of CRTs.

Help GAF.

I’ve navigated to usr/shared/games and it’s the custom titles and there is nothing with CLV_P.

Where are the original 21?
