Should Crackdown go multiplat?

One can argue that Mass Effect has benefited quite well from going multiplat and the same can be said for other series.

That's 1.46 million they otherwise wouldn't have.
What's your take?

I personally, would love the Crackdown series on PS4, maybe in a collection on a single blu-ray?

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Crackdown 3 should go “plat” first and see the reception for it.

A new level of port begging?

Everything should be multiplat. And not only multiplat, but platform agnostic. Fuck exclusives.

Isn't Crackdown owned by MS?
Every console exclusive would sell better going multiplatform. As well as Breath of the Wild sold, it would have sold even more if it was on Ps4/XB1/PC.

But their point is to make their platform more appealing. God of War, for example, wasn't just made for the profit Sony gets from selling enough copies of the game, it was also made to make the Ps5 a more appealing product

No. I don't mind 3rd party games like Yakuza and Valkyria Chronicles series going mulitpatform but I'm big believer that Consoles needs first/second exclusives.

Well, only if Microsoft wants to go the way of Sega...

It doesn't make sense in their current status. People wishing to play Crackdown need to get on the Xbox ecosystem. There is no way around it. Xbox One X offers very good value in my opinion so it's a good opportunity to "jump in"

No way Sony would ever allow it to happen. I can see Nintendo possibly doing it as they seem much more open to this type of things, but Sony will never do it.

Why would a company give their IP to its rival?

I think part of the why reason bioware went downhill was because they left the Microsoft ecosystem. They sold out doing that, then they sold out trying to appeal to a "wider audience". Same with Saints Row. First game was great, subsequent games were good but not as good as first. They know their audience with the first two games, but if you want the games to lose their identify, more power to you.

sure, or how about Sony quit the hardware business and publish on xbox/pc? then everything is multiplat by default and we can all play online together too.

MS could show Sony how to get back compat working as well.

You should have specified "console exclusive".

Clicked on this thread just to see the obligatory "it's on PC already, it's multi already".

Was not dissapointed 😂

This reads like a MisterApoc thread.
I mean, yeah it should if its purely sales were talking about. But you understand everything in the way of this happening and why it won't. Don't you?

Of course it would have benefited sales-wise from going multiplat. Same as God of War or any Uncharted game. But in the end, those games were funded specifically to not be on competitor's platforms.

Mass effect isnt nor ever was an xbox IP. The first game was published by MS in the same vain as DR3 (they paid for development, but didnt own the IP) then EA bought Bioware and ME2 was merely a timed exclusive.

Crackdown is owned by MS, it's a full-fledged xbox IP. The chances of it going multi-plat outside of win10 (and possibly steam) is about as likely as Gears or Forza going multiplat.

Would it benefit? No fucking shit. BotW and SMO would benefit going to xbox and playstation as well, you can literally say this about any exclusive really.

Yup, or they should at least put it to Switch.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Microsoft and Nintendo working together is such a mutually beneficial relationship and a serious threat to Sony.

Why would a company give their IP to its rival?

To make loads of money. Add to that how different the audiences are using Xbox consoles and Switch. Their might figures supporting this, but I reckon a large majority of Switch owners also have a second console. If Xbox IP ended up on Switch/DS consoles, I have no doubt in my mind that Xbox owners would grab one and potentially vice versa. Nostalgia is a powerful tool, and when Microsoft still holds some of the property that helped sell the N64, it makes sense for it to reappear.

People complain about Microsoft having not enough exclusives.

Now people complain about that Microsoft have exclusives, and they want them on other platforms.

Seems like Microsoft just can't win.

You could make the argument that every game would benefit from going multiplatform. It's a bit silly. Also Microsoft has been pretty clear moving forward they're going to service PC and Xbox with their first party. Minecraft was a unique situation I don't think you're going to see happen again anytime soon

The more people playing it the better.
It seems MS wants this game to be top tier just like Gears and Forza. That's really cool, feels like they want Crackdown to be an important franchise.

Hes not complaining, he is saying would it benefit Microsoft.

Personally I don't think it will. I think Crackdown will sell well because its a MS exclusive and there have been so few that most Xbox owners would feel more compelled to buy(this is how I felt about the first infamous game on PS3 when there weren't a ton of must have exclusives. If that game had been multiplat I think it would have flown under the radar despite being a great game). If it was multiplat, I just don't see it really having a major impact.

The point of exclusives to to sell consoles or bring people into an ecosystem, overall game sales is secondary. That said, I would love to play Nintendo games on decent hardware. Give me that BotW XB1X enhanced version.

always chasing the next thrill
As a multiplat owner i have zero interest in this game i never even played it as it looked like a shitty gta / saints row clone.
it could also be that i am so fing tired of open world games.

but hey sure make it multiplat see if i care

it's already bad enough that it's no longer truly exclusive to xbox one and you want it to go multiplat ??

by your logic, why not ALL exclusives go multiplat, they will benefit from it, do you want to see Zelda or The last of us on Xbox one ?? because i don't

exclusives makes a system worth having, and what Microsoft did to xbox one by merging it with PC fucked it up and made it worthless, when you see a sony exclusive gets announced and it looks good, you will see lots of people saying that they will get a PS4 for that, but now since microsoft fucked up the xbox one, whenever they announce a new game you don't see people saying they will buy an Xbox one for it, they'll just say i hope it runs good on my PC

You make it sound like that Xbox one has no games at all. Even though there isn't as many exclusives compared to PS4, the console share the same great games that PS4 has (multi platform).

It already is multiplat dude... which is surprisingly because everything about it just screams xbox... I don't think it'd be a great fit on switch or ps4...

Crackdown will be on PC. I wish Sony would starting publishing its exclusives on PC.

As for Xbox<->PlayStation, that's never going to happen. Exclusives have proved too valuable.

Kinda ruins the point of having an exclusive if you make it not exclusive...

You'll never convince me that's true.

I bought a PS4 and most PS4 exclusives. The PS4 purchase made Sony almost nothing.

I would still purchase all of those games on PC.
