As I said before with DC comics, she was contracted over a year ago to do a certain amount of comics, it was supposed to be her Goddess Mode book under Vertigo, DC's social commentary line of books. About a month ago, they dropped that line before Zoe's contracted comic number was reached (or contract expired, no one is really sure if it's time or book based). She is still under contract, even though her books sold terribly (The first issue sold 6,231 copies to stores). DC can't fire her while she is on a contract without her breaking DC's rules. Notice she never mentions DC comics in her tweets. That's because, when Marvel was letting their SJW writers go nuts on twitter, DC said they'll fire anyone who works for them and bring up their name in an argument over social media. As long as she follows DC's guide lines, they can't fire her (no cause) and DC isn't Marvel. They don't fire writers/artist because of unrelated drama or personal ideology. So unless she breaks DC's rules, they won't fire her until that contract is up.
Oh and I do believe they will fire her solely based on sales. Again, first issue sold 6,231 units, which most comic book shops reported not being able to get rid of (don't know how believable that info is though, some youtubers who report that let their bias get in the way and fib the numbers). But her last issue sold less than 4,000 units to comic shops.
Edit: I was wrong about the sales figures of Goddess mode. First issue sold 17,471, I posted the numbers of issue 3. Neither numbers are good, but that drop may actually prove those youtubers right, that's a LARGE number of shops deciding not to order the book.

I have a decent sized twitter audience and a semi-regular live stream. Both of those serve as platforms for me to talk, rant, complain, champion, and simply discuss things on my mind. That's as much thought that goes in to what I talk about on those platforms. Anyone who is even semi-aware of my social media presence over the last 15 years knows good and well I don't express ideas for the kudos but rather because- at any given moment- what I'm expressing I find interesting and fun to talk about. It really is as simple as that.

I like old timey words and phrases. Mark Twain was my favorite writer growing up, I have read most, if not all, of his sketches. You would be surprised how much of that man's work was pilfered over the years. Anyway, I will define "skylarking" for you.....

So I read through this . While it details some very abusive and strange behavior, I couldn't get past something that was nagging at me most of my read through. Why did people put up with this shit? More importantly why was that missing from both Scott's and Zoe's account of the abuse. Sure they mentioned that they cared for him, but I'm not buying it was enough to put up with all of that and in a way even enable it. There is one answer that makes sense to me, they needed what he could provide them . Not only did Alec give them financial support to develop a game but they fed off of his courage and spirit. At that time it was worth the price of admission to deal with his shit. This is especially true for Zoe because of their emotional involvement.
Now we have these people looking coldly back when Alex is no longer part of their lives and more importantly no longer directly helping them get what they want. So they are judging these things like they were not the willing participants in an unhealthy imbalanced relationship, but rather the unwilling victim of a horrible person. It's shit like this that make these Twitter #metoo outings from decades past so fucking scary. Our minds and our memories are completely biased. They would happily throw someone under the bus rather than have us deal with our culpability in what transpired..
I myself was in a screwed up relationship where the person used me. When the truth hit me, it was scary as hell. Its like the person in front of me was a complete stranger and had been manipulating me all along. The hate that came up was even more frightning. But the thing that helped me through it was remembering all the excuses I made in my mind during that relationship when red flags came up. I had to come to terms with I was helping the person screwing me over. It even helped me forgive her. I also talked things out with friends of course. Eh... not sure this last part was relevant but whatever.

Yup, that's really fucked up. One case that I feel strongly about:
The German games industry is a joke. There are a couple good people/studios in there, but even more people where I have to ask myself what are they even doing their entire lives besides network? There is an 'official' facebook group for the German games industry with many of local people, devs, students in there, so it is somewhat representative.
Group rules are: be constructive, don't start up hateful shit, be tolerant of others, one that stands out: think before you post insulting or very polarizing information/links. Pretty normal stuff overall.
The very same admin who posted those rules then created a post that shittalked Alec, saying that you are not allowed to 'take the last exit' if you are guilty, 'The only way back from a terrible misstep like this is to own it, take responsibility and work on yourself so you don't repeat it. YOU must become better, not the world around you. ' and he specifically mentions that if you are even slightly approving of the GamerGate movement then you are a part of the problem and a sympathizer for sexual harassment. He talks as if Alec was definitely guilty and was simply a coward for taking his own life. It's disgusting. Even if he was guilty 100%, even if his thought process for the suicide was that he wanted to avoid facing people's judgements for his misdeeds, a human life was lost due to savagery that praises capital punishment and dismisses rehabilitation and some people don't see anything wrong with that.
Thankfully, quite a few people were rational and openly expressed that this post is pretty much against the rules and inflammatory. But on the other hand, there are people who think this is fine.
This just empowered me in my preemptive choice to get the heck out of Germany once I finish my master's degree. If the industry here is a joke (overall) and the people here are mostly neither skilled nor fun to work with due to toxicity I'd rather just move somewhere else. Maybe Ireland or something. lol

I think the main reason Zoe Quinn gets so much support and 'recognition' is the fact that she's treated more like a symbol, rather than an individual. Supporting Quinn means you support feminism, equality, anti-racism and non-bullying practices. Which keeps becoming more and more ironic as her story unfolds.
