This level of fear scares the shit out of me and I saw it the day Trump won. My FB page was filled with people afraid to go outside for fear of being attacked by nazis and white supremacists. It was surreal to me. Id like to say things got better but it didn't. I then got to endure tons of reposts of second hand "racism" stories by Talcom X and other creators that scoured the net for any race baiting stories they could find, regardless of validity. First I thought they were creating hate, but realized they were just a market reaction for the need for it. People are now locked in an exciting battle of good vs evil. Look at how many people now make a living solely off of hating Trump. In a way he is like GG. He is the Villian they need to make the emotional appeal to change things dramatically.

You’ll notice that the article includes information from a guy on Twitter called Dataracer — a notorious Fandom Menace member who, for example, made up theories about how Kelly’s harassment was made up.


I’m not saying there aren’t shippers who are being racist — there are, and they need to be called out. But it’s appalling to me that the entire narrative is being shifted so that a group of shippers (again, made up mainly of women, and most of whom have never participated in the racism and harassment against John, and have done nothing wrong besides enjoying the character relationships in a movie) are being labeled as the problem group and source of all the hatred.

When you have a group RIGHT THERE (the Fandom Menace), whose entire focus of the last few years has been being racist and sexist in their complaints about the ST, and who’s more than happy to shift the attention away from themselves.

A decent amount of the “evidence” being posted by people like Dataracer isn’t even from Reylo shippers — the Twitter thread I posted above goes into this.

I agree with you 100%, whether or not you buy into that RJ narrative ought to be independent of your political views. But it certainly seems to be a virtue signal now. As a film, a star wars film specifically, TLJ is an abomination for me. It breaks with all established canon, is not internally consistent, and has little narrative drive from the previous film. I think the whole ST is a mess, but at least with TFA and ROS I can see an actual story arc. TLJ is just an aberrant outlier that failed to deliver the "we dont need to focus on Skywalker jedi's" message IMHO.

We weren't locals there no my dad worked for their airfoce for a few years through GE. My dad lived in Israel during the 80's so we kept all that on DL. GE wanted us to movie to Saudi, but my mom refused and we went back to the States before all the Arab spring protests were starting up there.
