Hillary Duff calls black photographer shooting kids a "creep", social media freaks out

He is doing no wrong and people in public (even kids) have no right to privacy in public spaces.

She has a problem with the law, she needs to take it up with a local politician. Until the laws change, she can bring her kid to private arenas if she is afraid of the boogiemen.

I laugh at the idea that it’s ok if he owned a kid, because that makes all the difference.

What if the guy is much bigger than you. Srs. You go and ask nicely?
Well I'm not exactly small myself.
But fighting people bigger than me has never been a problem in the past.

Anyway on a side note I didnt read the article or realize that this guy might have been paparazzi and was taking photos of a group of kids.
I was thinking more of a situation where a guy just started taking pictures of my daughter by herself.
In that scenario I'd just beat someone's ass.
But even in Duffs situation I can still see why she was upset. Some parents have much stronger protective instincts than others. My wife and I are that way. Our family is everything to us and we are always vigilant in keeping our daughters safe.

Bro it’s an open field playing sports...??? Am i missing a reason why he should ask permission? In all honestly what is he going to do with those photos that would upset you as a parent (if you are one)?

I guess I’m just too busy to care about that garbage. If he’s talking shit, harassing or following my kids we have a problem.

Taking pictures of other people's kids without there permission is creepy as fuck dude. Parent clearly didn't like it and complained he kept on staying there and made more pictures probably because fuck human decency.

They should just hire some guy that stands next to his kid 24/7 in a public space 5 centimeters away from his kid and then just say "well bra its public road i can stand where i want dude". It's totally legit.

Would the situation be any different if it were say Beyonce calling out a middle aged single white guy taking photos of her kids at a park?

The real question: Would it be any different if it were Hugh Jackman calling out a middle-aged woman taking photos of his kids at the park?

Or would no one find it creepy for an adult woman to be taking photos of kids?

I don't think there's anything complicated about this at all. Your self-entitlements don't restrict the rights of others.
Yeah but as you can read in this very topic, some people doesn't like other people taking photos of their children, i don't have children and i have the same paternal instincts of a hyena so i can't understand how these people feel.

But yeah she act like a bitch in this video.

Yeah I wouldn't think a woman would elicit the same type of reaction, the men around children in a park stigma is definitely real.

I don't have any problem finding ways to relate with that desire. Imagine if it was a birthday party at the park instead of peewee football. You're throwing a birthday party in the park. Friends and children are there enjoying the party. Off in the background, about 100-meters away is someone with a high grade camera taking photos of not just the park but also some photos of your party.

I don't have to like it, and it's not like the person walked over and asked the kids to pose for some photos.

Is Hilary a racist? I do not know.

Does Hilary like to get in positions when she can be labelled as one? FUCK YES.

She really told him how many followers she has? What the hell does that matter?

And yes he should have asked permission. Any public photo that involves a person I would ask that person if they're ok with me taking it.

No you wouldn't. You wouldn't rock jail time to protect your daughter from getting her picture taken. Most likely, you would either leave or throw a Duff-esque bitch fit.
I think I know myself and my history better than you.
I would and I I'm not.going to see a minute of jail.

I don't care about legality. I don't like randos filming or taking pictures of me. My rights superscede someone elses. Sure he has the right to take photos in public, but I don't have the right to ask him/her to not photo me?

I made a thread months ago about the lack of privacy that people in today's age can expect. Someone can put you on blast at your work and film you. They could acost you on the street and post it all over the net and you have almost no recourse against it.

My neighbor started filming me on my balcony, and the cops couldn't do shit.

Sorry but I don't like being filmed/picture by strangers, and I wouldn't want my family either. Yes its legal I get it, but these laws also existed at a time when we not everyone had high end camera's and video equipment in their pockets. I don't find it fair that someones right to film me is higher than my right to privacy.

Why would she make video, even before she confronted him. Smells kind of fabricated. Attention whores do this.
probably to deter the "racist white lady" trope she would def be accused of being if not for the existence of the video. i mean she already is being accused of it, but imagine 1000x fold. she was pretty educated up until she pulled the 15m card.

If I see you taking pictures of my young daughter without approaching me first you're getting your jaw broken. Simple as that.

I'm sure your daughter will appreciate your trading your freedom to stand up for her honor by assaulting a stranger.

Walking up to a stranger unprovoked (sorry, someone taking photos is not provocation) and breaking their jaw is likely going to put you in jail for a little while at least and then cost you a bunch of fines and probably tie you up in some litigation.

Breaking the jaw of someone who is explicitly taking pictures of your child without the parents or child’s consent.

This seems like just one of those common sense things.

Like I would not go to a swimming pool to practice my photography.
Or a gym.

We all know the truth - if it was a white guy, there would be 99.5% acceptance in telling the creep to fuck off. Since it's a black guy, you have to treat the whole thing differently and it's suddenly ok for a random stranger to be photographing children.

Your right to privacy doesn't extend to people snapping pictures of you in public places.

In some internet circles, yes.

Frankly, I don't see why skin color has anything to do with this particular issue, but some folks are obsessed with race and interject it into everything.

Buy an ice cream cone and they accidentally give you chocolate... "RACIIi9i9swT"
I'm black myself and tired of people doing that. There are legitimate issues to be dealing with rather than these cheat hot takes.

The idea is that if this was a white guy doing it, you wouldn't even have heard about it. It wouldn't have made any rounds online and no one would even be on the side of the weirdo taking pictures of other peoples' kids. All of this is happening because he's black. It's just the reality.

Creep is not racist, what the fuck 😆

Also the guy was being a creep. Not only for taking pictures of strangers kids with no kid of his own there, but also how he instantly defaults to “uh well it’s legal”. Reminds me of those assholes who stand outside government buildings or public places to film just so the cops come and they can start shit.

He could have asked permission. You should do that any time there are kids involved. Or go somewhere with adults playing sports? I’d assume she lives in a big city. You don’t need to watch little kids play soccer and take pictures of them for practice. Find a park, a rec center, there’s plenty of places where grown men are shooting hoops or playing sports where you can take pictures.

That's not racist, dont take pictures of people or people's kids without permission. I hate that we too damn quick to throw he/she is racist or he or she is transphobic like damn.

Ya and I am raging against that. We live in a world where everyone has a camera in their pocket. I don't think its fair that I have no right to tell someone to stop filming me or my children. Like I said I don't really care about it being "legal", I think its not right. If I ask someone to not take pics of me or my children (if I had any) that should override someones legal right to take pictures of me. I know it doesn't and I don't agree with that.

That’s the red flag for me “it’s not illegal” sounds like something a predator would say in the situation to cover his ass. Many of them will say the same things when caught “I didn’t do anything illegal yet” I.e. they didn’t have sex with the kids so it’s OK in their minds. We certainly don’t have proof he is but it’s a little more than supicious that a old man is taking telephoto shots of kids at a soccer game by himself

There is a know rule in the film and photography world. Dont take pictures or video of someone without their permission or knowledge. It’s one thing to just have people in the background of your pictures but this guy was using a hardcore telephoto lens. He knew what he was doing and taking very close and deliberate pictures of the kids which is a big no no.

Whether you like it or not, you don't need people's consent to photograph them in public spaces. The law is on this guy's side.

I'd absolutely recommend against photographing children without permission as that's just common sense and decency, but it's not illegal if you're in a public park.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am absolutely annoyed by amateur photographers who have to show you every snap they ever took and even tell the story on how they got the snap. "I had to lean against a guard rail and kneel down to get the light to reflect perfectly" yada yada yada. Go get paid to take some pictures of a wedding or other event if you want to call yourself a professional. Nobody cares about your landscape shots you think are so unique.

I refuse to look further into this than glancing at the OP for 4 seconds but are people only calling this racist because the guy happens to be black?

Are black people somehow exempt from being creeps? You really think she wouldn't have said the same thing if it was a white guy?
