Developers should give players the tools to avoid harassment, but changing the way the whole thing works simply to coddle people who can't handle the nature of the internet is asinine.

Or a new platform is created out of all this. Early Twitch was amazing, Now days I don't bother going on there. Half of the thing is people trying to cash in early painting their tits on stream.

The emote was from DansGaming and the person it was posted about was ProtoMagicalGirl. Interestingly, most of the Twitch community was on Dans side, mostly because a Twitch mod jumped the chain of command to remove the emote, so content people paid for was taken from them with no overview. This contributed to PMG being less and less prominent over the next few years (that and she's certifiably fucking nuts).

All this is just a show anyway. This advisor can crow on about whatever she likes, but she's one voice in a group. Twitch has a habit of stamping out shit that doesn't work and the few times they haven't, big daddy Amazon has stepped in and done it for them. As of now, this is a nothing burger with a side of who cares.

Twitch can afford to do this with the lead they have. They'll do exactly the same as Patreon and Kickstarter, where they force people off the platform. Then realise the people they're keeping will all set up their own safe streams and have 12-15 watchers. Pretty much the same ideology BT had with telephony and internet.

However, it's up to users to switch platforms.

Irrelevant. As long as DrDisrespect and many other big twitch streamers who give no shit about sjw's and publicly shit on them on twitch, these creatures can't do shit. What would twitch be anyway without xqc, soda, doc, etc.? Cohh seems like a nice dude but he's a sellout, always was. Honestly if all of these big streamers moved to mixer, twitch would slowly die. Guaranteed. Shroud and ninja might not've been enough but the more the better.

How is "voice-chat not inclusive"? Like does she mean as a feature? Or do people who use it need to be banned? Why not just use textchat? Does it need to be banned from Discord as well? I'm so confused.

This is always what I think when I see this sort of thing from someone who represents a tiny fraction of whatever group they’re in. If people really hated this sort of thing, they would be wise to just let silence do the talking. Angry responses just keep the message alive, but treating something with silence lets it fall into irrelevance.

I can’t comment on the deer thing because it may lack context (is it a joke, a character etc) but the discussions on Twitter are more telling. When someone from the group you’re trying to “Protect” attempts to explain why your crusade might not be such a great idea and you respond with something like “I will not be silenced”, it tells me you’re either too unstable to be in a position of power or you’re thriving on negativity to stay relevant, neither of which should be supported.

But again, I know too little about the specific workings of this Twitch group to know if it’s relevant. I’m more disappointed about what they did to AGDQ, from the streams I’ve seen over the years there was nothing wrong with that, and cutting public chat out of an event that exists to raise money for charity can’t be good.

Nah, the whole reason they have gotten so big is that most people ignore them, social media was a mistake, back in the day they would have gotten their ass beat and been mercilessly bullied then stopped behaving like morons, it's the only way to stop this shit.
