Edit - His comparison with PS4 Pro is hilarious.

He says it is a more stylized form of PS4 Pro with have 55cm lol that why he assumes it has similar size than PS4 Pro but Pro has 5.5cm in that side... it is 32.6 x 29.5 x 5.5 cm.

Digital Foundry has said that Cerny will invite them to tear down the PlayStation 5. When do you think this will occur? Also, do you think that they'll tear down both versions or just one?
 
Literally nobody will care how big it is. Theres essentially nobody who would go with another console simple because of its form factor. If that were the case the sleek, beautiful Dreamcast would have outsold the PS2 which looks... I mean.. its "interesting" looking I guess but it isnt sleek . It caught a lot of flak at the time. Or the Wii U would have outsold the PS4. . . I dont mean to say looks dont matter but I certainly think that anyone grasping at straws thinking its going to suddenly give the competition the edge probably dont understand that the Playstation brand is strong enough to MAKE this look popular. I mean after all.... From what Ive seen the Xbox series X isnt going to do anything the PS5 cant do- just the same stuff

much better. I think the Xbox one X is sleeker than the PS4 pro too, and its got a big power gap but it also doesnt sell nearly as well even on deep discount.

It's package size. It had to. That's size of desktop PC case. Not some Mini-ITX, but normal one.
That extra 10cm over dimension taken from photos is just enough to fit gamepad. If that's size of box, then final console has depth of around 30-35cm.

Don't pay attention to what a small circle of forums say. The general public loves its unique look. It didn't get over 20M views and 1M likes on YT for nothing.

Me personally I like it. It's something different from the usual boring rectangle wanna be entertainment center box look that PS4 and XB1 had. Game consoles should look like game consoles first. PS5 looks way better than the ugly monstrosity PS4 pro that's for sure.

I think the way it will look with custom art or "limited editions" will be sick. I dont think it looks bad, and because I generally have a ton of big equipment under my TV like receivers anyhow... it seems fine to me.

I dont know that anyone will be able to just not accommodate it... we're in a world where TVs are 65, 75 , 85 inches and you have people complaining about the size of the system sitting under it.
 
As long as it is quiet with no issues don't care about the size. As i said in the series x thread there is no replacement for displacement. These boxes needed some volume to cool these hot chips. Neither are good looking but all i care about is function. The one x project scorpio edition still stands imo as the best looking console ever. Im impressed with how thin the digital edition of the PS5 is very good engineering if it is quiet.

The stand in that case would make the machine taller by a small margin, but it would become much wider or thicker depending on the position.

Even if PS5 really is the size of original PS3, i won't mind.

I want to show off my new consoles curvy design on my TV unit standing vertically with maybe a DBrand skin or two.

All I needed to see to know most don't like it is that the XSX beat it by a landslide on Resetera. It looks good for the teenage age group but man, I feel like I need to hide this thing behind my TV. It will stand out too much in a bad way. Doesn't affect my decision to purchase though. I may wait for Demon's now tho.

It's going to be huge, otherwise Sony would've already released the dimensions of it. They are hoping this will first get out of the news, before confirming that it's that big.

This just cements my belief that slim (digital) edition put horizontally is the way to go. The question is which position will lead into better thermals/acoustic, it there will be any difference of course.

I'd say it's just the amount of space you have — vs whether you see the space that's being taken up is indicative of a performance boost.

At the moment it feels like I would be paying a lot of money for very little graphical improvement. I'm annoyed that I won't be playing Demon SouLs again but that's about it.
