I think i will wait before buying a ps5, perhaps try and get one of the those console deals in six months time when you get a free game with it. Something like a horizon zero dawn edition console or even a dark souls one.

The problem i have atm is by back log, i have like 20 games i still have not played. I am still playing uncharted 4 atm, chapter 10 it has taken me a month to get that far, i played perhaps an hour here or there a day.

There are just to many damn good games out there.

I have not even played spider-man, days gone, assassins greed games, tbh the list just goes on and on lol.

Saying that, what i really want my console for is eventually down the line when they release diablo4, that will probaly be my bread and butter game for many many years after its release. If they deliver that is, blizzard aghh, used to be so good.
PS5 BC created another trouble to my backlog: do I play all these games first before getting PS5 or wait to get one and play their enhanced versions, even if it's just better framerate?

Time to get the thread back on track:

Here is some info that someone was able to glean on RDNA2 based on what is in the current drivers.

So the improvements that stand out to me are:

  • dual-Pipe Graphics Command Processor
  • an extra two SDMA (smart-DMA (direct memory access)) engines.
edits below:

xGMI is AMD's Infinity Link, for connecting multiple GPU's together. The APU's that Sony/MS will be using will *NOT* have that, so one example of how those GPU's will not be full RDNA2.

Note, that AMD's Infinity Link is different than AMD chip-to-chip interconnect "Infinity Fabric".

The part where it mentioned "advanced clock and voltage control" that sounds like something the PS5 might have.

If you're me.. you lose those games in the shuffle while beginning newer games all the time. It's a failure on my part in self-discipline to stop buying another game until I finish the one I've just started. A never ending cycle of spent money.

I'm in somewhat the same boat, but have a larger backlog of stuff I am wanting to play through. So I am specifically leaving some to play on the PS5 (even if they don't get a PS5 patch, I'll benefit from it being able to run them in PS4 Pro mode vs my current OG PS4) and currently concentrating on games I either don't want to wait to play, older PS4 games that won't benefit from the Pro mode, or games on my Switch!

Not sure if anyone saw this but It looks like a chart with the upcoming AMD RDNA cards has leaked on Twitter and the speculation is that XSX is between 6800 and 6900 and the PS5 is 6600.

Any thoughts? Also don't shoot the messenger. I would think the PS5 would be a 6700.

160 ROPs for the high end Navi cards?

Perhaps the 80 ROPs for Xbox Series X taken from Techpowerup is correct.

Hearing things like this is starting to give me second thoughts on getting the Series X day 1. I want both next-gen consoles from jump, but the overall brand messaging has been weird and some of the games Grubb is stating are games I wouldn't touch.

Maybe I'll give Halo a shot as I have getting back into FPS games. I don't know, I think I have to see what this showcase is going to show. I'd love to see some japanese games make their way to the Console as well. Need to see the long-term output somehow.

6700 makes more sense for the number of rop s, but none is an exact match

From Sony's presentation four months ago. What are people here babbling about?

Quiting myself from couple of pages back. Anyone saying that PS5 is not RDNA2 is simply wrong.

Not even a day has passed with this reopened thread and already it seems as though we’re back at the “PS5/RDNA 1, Series X/RDNA 2” again 😅.

I will try and tread lightly here.

Some of these presentations should be taken with a grain of salt in my eyes. Does not matter if it is sony or xbox.
These events are controlled, scripted and have been polished to hit people with a wam bam thank you mam moment.

Things can look like the second coming of Christ in some of these screens or short videos, its not until we get reveals and by that i mean honest in hand reviews from trusted news websites.

I have been duped before, go to the cinema, watch the trailer, then watch the movie and half of it is not like what was being advertised.

These presentations are made for a reason, to impress, to sell products.

> The PS5 equivalent graphic card (RX6600) desktop, it has the code name Navi10 (RDNA1)

Why is he picking that chip as the PS5?

How desperate are these people?

Because it's the closest to the PS5 chip config and clock speed. FYI the number of ROPs is still not confirmed.

With it's 192-bit bus and being RDNA1, when AMD advertises on their site:
RDNA 2 architecture is the foundation for next-generation PC gaming graphics, the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

You have to smash a lot harder to get the wrong fitting last jigsaw piece in.

Selfishly plays on Xbox Purr-ies X
Plus if the rumors of Sony upping production are true then there shouldn't be a problem getting one at the end of the year. Or at least there won't be an extreme shortage that will last a long time.

It will be outstanding if the people that want to buy and actually play games on these consoles get to buy one at the retail price instead of some super inflated scalper price.

With the increased PS5 production and if Sony puts a policy like this into effect the chances of legit gamers getting one at launch should excellent. I'm also sure if there are any leftover people wanting buy more than one will have that opportunity a little later on.

Seems the RDNA 1 FUD will never end. Even after the tear down.

We know Ps4 SOC appeared before the Series X SOC and got some major revisions.
So it makes sense they're behind in the feature set.

So the initial Ps5 SOC was based on NAVI and than later changed. I makes sense they could not change the design completely, so they got some RDNA2 features in, but the chip design is not 100% RDNA2

Smells like FUD. The twitter account is very suspect. I think Big Navi is supposed to hit in October and I think the PS5 teardown is supposed to(maybe) happen soon so we'll know for sure then.

Considering the twitter account is named Xbox Siri's Ex ... I press X to doubt.

I don't care, tbh. The PS5 has proven that is capable of amazing visuals - couldn't care less about the RDNA number.
