I've been listening to and creating ambient music for about 12-years now. This is the album that really changed everything for me. It's hard to turn this one off. F.Y.I. Mike Oldfield plays nearly every instrument on this album. Interesting note: this was recorded in isolation by Mike in 1975 while he was living in a home studio high on the English countryside hills of Hergest Ridge. The part toward the end of part 1 with the intense guitar, bass, was recorded during a massive thunderstorm.

Was reading a weird forum post about Fortean topics and I thought I was clicking to watch a video about the legend of Spring Heeled Jack, turned out to be a cool ambient track instead lol

ambient imo has to be most beautiful genre of music out there, it's magical, I can't describe feelings I get when I listen to tracks like this - melancholy? sadness? thinking of the past? I don't know exactly, but there's something so striking in tunes like this



for example, from start to 1:20 it's a simple chord but something about it is just perfect how it really slowly builds up and set up a certain mood
