Could be artistic license, but kind of interesting that there's a new shotgun, the Hand Cannon, and a torch in that picture.

Btw, shamelessly stolen from Twitter, but the Fortnite Gaf crew when the update drops:

Okay, the best way I can sum up this chapter, this season, and this update is...

LziAegP.png

The cars, gas can mechanics, even being able to pump the gas (we won't talk about that you just hose the car with it 😋 ), the sheer interactivity of the game these days right down to listening to different radio stations and bottling fireflies at night, a map that has evolved just right with a crazy/awesome new location in Coral, existing vehicles and a highway system that were a perfect complement to the cars all along, the constantly useful, fun, and balanced weapons and items.

I can go on. Lol. But I won't.

Point being is that I feel like Epic is really, slowly building Chapter 2 into something phenomenal, and tonight is the first time I noticed that so many of the pieces are interlocking so well. You could seriously let the game sit on this update for a while, and I don't think people would have too many complaints.

It feels a little strangely like the original Season 3, where Chapter 1 coalesced. I don't know if that's an accident or on purpose, but it's really cool.

Btw, I did not expect the car radios to be so cool. Here's just one of the stations track list.

We really are GTA, now, lol.

The cars have been one of the most fun non-season updates in the history of the game.
When I watched the update video the first thing that popped into my mind was this:

Highly doubt the first song is on any of the radio stations (I didn't check) so I'll just have to play it via Spotify...on infinite loop.

Cars, boats, and helicopters. This game keeps getting better.

Vehicles are going a lot better than they did in Chapter 1. Everything in Chapter 1 ended up being so over/underpowered, that it either was vaulted within a season, or rendered useless, then vaulted.

The only thing that ever lasted were the snowboards and quadcrashers, two land vehicles that couldn't support squads.

It's really nice to see a mobility element in this chapter that isn't pissing people off, or falling into disuse, that will actually stick around, over land, sea, and air, and with every single one supporting four players for maximum fun. It fits so well.

this game is pure madness now, brilliant cat and mouse elements around every corner

i'm hiding in hay stacks, eating and drinking god knows what for health and armor, foraging and fishing, upgrading weapons at various stations, running people over in cars, bouncing around jump pads, grappling items and enemies, sniping fools outta helicopters, settings buildings ablaze with flare guns ...

quite rusty tho, playing against bots in many cases, gotta bone up solos before attempting squads

kinda hard to sleight epic's abandoning of unreal for this, lord help me for saying such a thing

props to the blue printers and engine designers, strong mechanics and the game looks beautiful at max settings

It would have been nice if both could coexist for fans of that, but completely agreed.

BR exploding has been so much more than a new twist on a genre. Detractors often miss that. It's been this epic merging of multiplayer and single player characteristics into brand new, completely interactive, player populated entire worlds where anything can happen, and the grandest stories are possible.

I think those worlds have consistently been the most exciting thing of the generation, and I'm really glad Epic seized the opportunity so hard.

Especially for Chapter 2. Like you said, they are really doubling down on making the island a living, breathing place, with tons of systems that touch gameplay in every way, and let players really feel like they're a part of that world. It almost reminds me of BotW.

Anyone talking shit about Fortnite or BR has no idea what the fuck they're talking about.

Excellent genre. There should be more. I can't wait to see how it evolves in the future with better tech and design.

Yup, agreed.

This game is definitely a looker. Max settings and 4k looks incredible.

Two Victory Royales this morning before work!

I also have to say that I'm in love with the Level 100 Knight skin. This is also the first time I've really done the whole 'corrupted' skin thing, and tried to level that up. It is actually awesome watching the changes sweep through the skin with every level.

Epic almost singlehandedly fixed all the issues with cross-platform multiplayer stuff, and got even Sony to change course. I guess when you have a success like Fortnite, you can leverage it to make everyone else knock off their crap.

I also guess this is why the price of V-Bucks apparently went down by 20% on all platforms today. Apple no longer has their cut, and Epic isn't forced to keep parity with them on other platforms.

Wonderful news for everyone. Even if buying V-Bucks is going to require a little math from now on, lol.

Had a super laggy night the last 2 nights and I can't tell if it's my internet or the game.

Managed a win.

And a brutal 7th place. Check this lag out when I'm the last one alive deep in the storm.

I hope I'm not becoming Fortnite meme poster, but this is the most accurate thing ever. This particular gas station is always either a bustling friendly neighborhood hub for all to fill up and play around, Syria, or Hiroshima. There is no inbetween.

Caution: If you're a frequent Salty or Pleasant lander, what you're about to see, may unnerve you, or shatter your entire sense of reality. The broken wall that you've been breaking down forever to get the chest? Well... take a look.

Got a session in last night. The cars really add a lot to the game, but the on-road vs off-road traction dynamics need some work. The pickup truck should probably handle off-roading better than it does.
I found that semi trucks are slow to build up speed, but can drive pretty much anywhere including up the steep and snowy mountainous areas. Silly me, expecting real life driving physics in Fortnite. 😉

I dropped out a bit this season because I wasn't the biggest fan of the map layout with all the water, but now that it's gone I've been sucked back in and Fortnite is pretty much all I do at home now. Send help, please.

Agreed. I think it's more mechanical, though. They want cars on the road for the most part, rather than zooming all over the map and giving them another #VaultTheMech or #VaultPlanes conflict with their fanbase.

Looks like Season 3 will not overstay it's welcome as hideously as the past two seasons, nor at all. This one ends on time.

👌

Season 1 and 2 were really marred by how they refused to end, and just hung during these delays, with no real new content.

No delays is the cherry on top for a really, really great season. It has this low-key vibe going on, in comparison to the insanity of some Fortnite seasons, but when you sit down and think about how fantastic it was, all the way through...

In comparison to last time, where widespread leaks had revealed the water, flare gun, fire system, 'cyborg Meowscles', a new female knight, Aquaman, riding sharks, etc., months before even the Season 2 event...

It's kind of refreshing to not know anything about the next season, lol.

Well, I mean, I know a little. I shouldn't have browsed the leakers on update day to see what was new in the game, lol. But in general.

:messenger_fearful:

(Donald Mustard is the guy in charge)

All I can say is that I had a ridiculous amount of fun following Chapter 1's story, coming up with crazy theories, and having my mind blown by all the twists and turns. Perhaps more than a non-child should, but whatever. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I'm really, really looking forward to this. And sharing it with all of you, of course.
