Windows Central: Xbox Series X $499, Xbox Series S $299, November 10th launch date

Family with 2 kids. The price of 2 series s 599.99 vs 2 series x 999.99. That is a lot of money for many families right now. People who don't have a 4k tv or someone who does not care just wants to keep playing new gamepass games cheap as possible.
...and runors continue that each console will ship with 3 months of GamePass.

The Series S at $299 is going to be a great value at a time when a lot of people need it.

I just want both systems to do well and give us good experiences. So far I'm happy with the price points MS seems to have picked and the general outlook for the console in the future. I don't care if it beats the PS5 or not, miss me with the console war bs.

Well.. the Xbox one had a pretty good launch lineup
We don’t know either consoles launch lineup yet. Good on Ms for actually marketing their console though and not repeating “IMMERSIVE 3D AUDIO! TRIGGERS! HAPTIC FEEDBACK!” continuously ad nauseam

No it won’t. The xbox one has frequently been cheaper than the PS4 and they didn’t steamroll shit.

when you include the international sales the two were essentially neck and neck. And when you consider that the xbox brand was next to non-existent outside of the americas and the UK, I would have to say the 360 sold pretty damn good.

Not at launch buddy, Xbox One's being priced cheaper than PS4 was a few years post the consoles launched.

But also Craig and a lack of good games coming out during.. the first year? Two years? That’s MS achilles heel right now.
I mean..we can sit here and assume things prematurely all we want but where would that lead us? Lol

To quote the infamous Craig,
“There is no need to be upset”

360 jumped way out in front at launch over the PS3:
  • $400 instead of $600
  • Oblivion
  • Mass Effect
  • Ninja Gaiden 2
  • The Last Remnant / Lost Odyssey
MS will probably have a $100 price advantage, or a $0 price advantage. Exclusives aren't ready yet. But they have Gamepass and a cheaper $300 option. It's not the homerun they needed at launch, but they're in the running for sure.
  • Stronger console
  • Gamepass
  • $0 - $100 cheaper?
  • $300 cheaper option
They needed to have 1-2 launch games ready to go in great shape.

Yea, but we’ve seen actual games running on PS5, not CGI trailers, and coming out either at launch, launch window, or during the first year.

Let’s not pretend MS has shown us the goods there..

343 dropped the ball massively. They intended to launch all of this with Halo, if the game was actually good and looked the part it could've been huge. Alas, not anymore.

We don’t have to because the post you quoted didn’t mention me saying that..

I’d like to see an actual running PS5 running games and not just trailersthat probably won’t even look like that at launch. That’d be nice :)
Also, more gameplay and less quickly cut trailers would be nice from both. The only full length gameplay we’ve seen running on PS5 is Ratchet and Clank if I’m not mistaken. Unless you can name others...?

Your turn.
New games developed for Xbox Series X and launching with Xbox Game Pass, including exclusives like The Medium, Scorn, Tetris Effect: Connected, and more.
Does not say it will be launch title, just that it will launch with Game Pass.

What’s the release date?

We realize people get frustrated with this answer but we decided not to give out a release date, or even a time frame until we are 100% sure we can deliver.

TBH I was going to sit out next gen but 299.99 and game pass is tempting. I dont have a 4k TV BTW.

Probably wait for first price drop so rooting for Sony to force MS to be aggressive with price drops.

360 was so amazing. The blades, achievements, great games, graphics and console looked just super cool

The context hardly matters imo. I think Sony is prepared for that. They’re banking pretty hard on spiderman and I’m sure that’ll sell very well as an established IP (even if I don’t particularly care for it.)

And there’s another thing: brand recognition. Xbox will sell well in the us and perhaps the UK and that’s probably about it. Not to mention the PS5 is coming off of a very strong generation whereas the xbox is is coming off, well not so great of a generation.

Wait, Windows Central is referring to Brad Sams as the source for the pricing, but Brad Sams said this:

Further, we can likely speculate that the Series X should come in at either $499 or possibly $599, based on the pricing of this console.

So 499/299 is a big nothingburger.

The US and UK are all that matters. Anything outside of that is a joke.

You who claim the Ps3 kept outselling the 360. Numbers please?
The PS3 started 10 million sales behind but by the time they both stopped giving numbers it was within about a million. You don't gain 9 million in sales by selling less lol.

Solid pricing, although I had hoped the S to be a bit cheaper. The design on the S is definitely something, but until I see official renders, I'm not settling on an opinion.
You hoped the next generation console would be cheaper than the current generation consoles are? Really?

Read the title of the article. You think its coincidental that every other game they listed is slated to release this year?
Why do you think there is a pre-order page for The Medium but not for Scorn? I still cant find any official source calling it a holiday 2020 launch title.

Who buys 2 consoles only having 2 kids? That family has bigger problems that consoles right now :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This has to mean PS5 will be $499(Disk) and $449(Digital) respectively. Can't see them going lower since the Series S is supposed to have cheaper components than the Series X.

Incredible pricing for both models if true. Nice too, there's a clear colour difference between the next-gen models as well. Now MS just need to show off games actually running on the system (that be nice)

We'll see. Sony has some custom hardware that's probably expensive. And they have waited far longer than usual to announce their price.

Microsoft is an official source.
And they didnt call it a holiday 2020 title. They have mentioned launch titles many times by actually calling them "Holiday 2020" title. "Launching with Game Pass" holds for every Xbox exclusive 2021 and beyond.

Not to mentiom most early buyers got RRoD's for free. ;)
And repaired for free ! So what’s the point ? At that time I also had one of the first Ps3s that had the blu-ray died, Sony Benelux never even had one in before , also was repaired for free.

It was a weird gen for me, because my Wii overheated out of the box, they forgot to power the fan 🤣
