just started a new game of Bloodborne. the fall weather and Halloween vibes of the season have made me think about a replay, and diving back in has been so good. damn, this game really is Castlevania The Souls Game.

but playing it in 2020, it is clearly a game held back by technology while Witcher 3 looks stunning even on current gen hardware. the shimmer is real. the problem is that the stylized high gothic architecture of BB has a lot of sharp angles in it, which end up looking fuzzy and shimmery when viewed at lower resolutions. plus there is an absurd amount of detail, with ornate carvings on just about every surface of the game world. 1080 doesn't do the art justice. take BB and put it in 4k, and the game will jump ahead of anything yet made imo.

From is ahead of their time, is the "problem" with the visuals. i don't blame BB for this, and if anything, it only means the game is future-proof. playing Bloodborne in 2021 or 2022 is going to be like playing a whole new game.

Bloodborne is a great game, but I'm losing my got damn mind over here with people saying it's the best souls game. Like do you people even play Souls games, or do you just play Bloodborne.

I honestly feel pity for those that weren't able to appreciate playing a gem like Bloodborne.

Regardless, congrats to The Witcher 3. In the end, it's ultimately the lovers of great games who win.

Witcher 3 for me, I wasn't actually a fan of the series neither the books, but about a year ago I was looking for new games to play and I came across a few including the Witcher 3 and I read some of the non-spoiler reviews, for me what stood out was everyone kept talking about how good the story/narrative and characters were, which is the number 1 thing I look for when looking/buying a new game and I was not disappointed. The game changed my life in certain ways, being introduced into this huge and mysterious world with really profound and unique characters and a really beautiful soundtrack, only one other game gave me such a feeling which was Assassin's Creed 2. I've since completed the game, I've began reading the books which are just as good if not better. The Netflix series is a bit disappointing but I'll let it slip since it's only the first season. Here's one of my favourite soundtracks from the game.

Rigged? Talk about sore losers, BB was winning at first so how was it rigged? Are you telling me it's only rigged because the better game won?
Not talking about that, talking about which games have been going up against each other. Obvious drama/bait match ups from the start.

Also better game? Lol okay. The Witcher 3 is a game for frauds I'll only take anyones opinion seriously on it if they show me their Witcher/2 clear time. 😘

I thought most games were fairly matched, except BOTW which had an easy ride up until now, MGSV is it's first real competition.

My only complaint is lack of genre diversity, other than Smash which isn't even a real fighting game, there wasn't any fighting games in this competition. Nevermind other genres.

Max's SoulsBorne Tier List: Best Of Souls & Blood
Bloodborne 10/10
Lore, Gameplay, Audio, Theme, Visuals, Feedback, Atmosphere, World Build, DLC, PVP, Community, History, no hand holding, git-gud

Witcher 3 8/10
Lore kinda, Gameplay "meh, ok?", World Build & Visuals (on PC), DLC, Sidequests better than Main Quest (what´ve heard, never made it past the griffon)

snip -

I'm tired, I made a disasterously formulated post.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
Glad to see the better game win but depressed to see how little made the difference between the two games.

Congrats to From for putting up a good fight, congrats to CDP for winning. So finale will be Zelda versus Witcher 3, most likely. Well as someone who dislikes lack of high quality narrative and cartoony graphics, my choice will be clear.

Just impressive how a multi plat game released on every current console is barly holding its ground against a PS4 exclusive

This already determines the grand final. Witcher 3 vs Zelda BotW. Only one clear winner there, but I'm afraid people will vote wrongly again. This round came too early and to me the only 2 games worthy of the grand final.

Surprising result! I was concerned that BotW would have to face Bloodborne in the final (even thought about voting for Witcher 3 to help prevent it -- but I didn't)... this is a much more favorable situation.
