It says a lot that older titles in particular are being used to showcase the system. I’m really disappointed in all this as it feels like a continuation of X1X than a new generation and whilst I appreciate backwards compatibility, it still feels underwhelming (to me)
The UI...finally dynamic backgrounds are there, Sony had them years ago on PS3! I remember Microsoft were fully ahead of the curve in console UI and in some aspects they still are, in others they are not. That’s something that should of been there years ago! We actually might get something like a Platinum in 2024 guys.
This video is a waste of time. The UI is exactly the same as the Xbox One so we don't need a walkthrough for what we already know how to use. The rest of the time all they talk about is the same marketing stuff they've been talking about for months. Quick Resume, expansion card, game pass, etc. Not a single new thing in this video.
I feel like MS was forced into this because of Craig Infinite. That said, they really should have been smart enough not to build their entire next gen strategy around 343.
Xbox 360 UI and feature set was great, Xbox One was a disaster and they've spent the entire gen trying to figure it out. Hopefully they get there.
This is probably a huge stupid question, but being I have tons of Xbox original and 360 discs the only way to play those is get the series x? I don’t need all the 4K garbage, but it would great to get a 4 generation backwards compatible system. (I skipped the x1 gen)
I want the S but I don’t think that will help me
As I've said before. This gen is even missing the "glorified tech demos" like Ryse, DR3, or Kz:sf.
Im waiting a few months before buying anything. Nothing really worthy of dropping $500 on launch.

I think Microsoft is trying to use Gears 5 as that "game" but since its not new its not going to excite a lot of people. Ultimately, I agree that we need the Ryses and Killzones to simply flex the systems at launch.
Revolutionary!Dynamic backgrounds exclusive to next generation? Da fuck.
subnautica texture pop in at 5:48
why are they showcasing this
also can we not press share button on the controller to start a stream on twitch?
Nah, that belongs to PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.This is quite possibly the worst first party launch of any console
I thought they had the marketing rights to AC Valhalla, Watch Dogs and Yakuza?
Why not show off the next-gen versions of those games here instead.
Pro an x were built on the same platform as their previous. Maybe the x not so much coming from the one to the x but the ps5 is not at all built anything like the ps4That wasn't texture pop-in, that was simple pop-in. This is a problem of their engine and has always been even on the best of PCs. They showed this, just to show some BC, as the Gears 5 and Dirt 5 stuff are Series X games, Subnautica is not.

People need to look at this from a different perspective. Generations are pretty much dead which is good, Series X and also PS5 are more like new "mid-gen refresh" systems.
Shlsnt haf plud th drknign game"for sure"
That's what I've been saying for a whileI'm thinking of this Xbox almost as a PC upgrade. Nothing better than logging into steam on a new build and checking out how good your old games look and run. That said, the new games will come and I'll be ready.
Is it me or it the UI on the home screen really blurry?
nice piece of tech but no games!!!!! I have absolutely no reason to buy this console right now...there is nothing on it that I can't play on my XoX or PC...
PS5 and Series X are both glorified x86 PCs. There is no grand shift to a new architecture like Emotion Engine > Cell, or Cell/Power PC > x86.Pro an x were built on the same platform as their previous. still, why showcase this when they could have chosen any other game. i get they are showing quick resume and the auto HDR feature but surely there was something else that wouldn’t show pop in.That wasn't texture pop-in, that was simple pop-in. CPU architecture? I'm talking system as a wholePS5 and Series X are both glorified x86 PCs. There is no grand shift to a new architecture like Emotion Engine > Cell, or Cell/Power PC > x86.

Sometimes I don’t even know why I’m still a fan as I seem to moan far more about them than praise these days. Apologies.
Is it though? You could go look at the UI of the Xbox One if you didn't have one and it's the same thing. It's kind of why I like how Sony handled their rollout of news. Microsoft has just been putting out articles talking about the same stuff over and over because they talked about everything so early. Like how many times do I need to hear about quick resume or that I can play my old games on your system? Its new to people who don’t have an Xbox, but it is disappointing that they didn’t at least show any series x games running besides Dirt 5.
