So, a bit pissed that Demon’s Souls is not on PS4?

Ok one thing to begin with, i didnt expect the visuals from the PS5 version to be on par on the PS4. Some visual would have to be cut a bit to make it an enjoyable experience with PS4.

But where im going with this thread, well, since the beginning of the PS4 or near, we all were wishing for a Demon Souls remaster, remake, whatever its a simple port or with enhancments. It never happen with PS4, but its now just a PS5 exclusive. Does that piss you off a little? Here i am not saying i cannot buy a PS5 if i want it, im just disappointed to see it only on PS5. Some game are crossgens, and this one isnt ( well so far, who knows, its a big reason to jump to PS5 for now ). Im also curious how many more copies it would have sell if it was available on PS4.

So, how do you feel about it? Dont care because last gen is close to be over and its time to move on? Sad because you dont plan to upgrade yet and cant play it?

Considering I’m paying 1300 usd to play one fucking game? Yes, yes I am quite mad actually. I’m seriously not even interested in the shit machine, I just want to play one of my favorite games of all time on a machine that I either 1: don’t have to pay 1300 bucks for; or 2: don’t have to wait until february to play.

Well pissed off is a strong word, it's just a game. But it would be nice if all games were available for whatever platform I want it on, Gears on PlayStation, Uncharted on Xbox, Mario on PC, ect. Sure would be nice to have 100 million and a harem of supermodels fawning over me as well.

Well they need to have something to make people buy the PS5.

Given from the hype in here, I imagine a big part only early buying ps5 because of it. Which means if they released it on ps4 there were less reason to buy it now.

Theyd rather sell a system to 499 and a game at 80 euro than play on your old console for 60 euro.

A next-gen console launch needs to have enticing titles to entice people to make a purchase ASAP. Could they have made it work on PS4? Of course! But then they'd be down a great launch exclusive for PS5.

There are a LOT of people that bought a PS5 ASAP just for Demon's Souls.

it's a next gen game. the downgrade would be.... meh. maybe it will come. that's fine if it does.

however i'm glad Bluepoint wasn't hampered by having to deal with last gen and could instead devote all their attention to making it look the best. every thing about this game seems designed around this specific configuration of hardware.

that said, maybe we will see a downgrade version later on. i think people are underestimating what a next gen leap this game actually is. but it could happen.

I understand where you are coming from, but I’m not complaining that a next generation console has at least one exclusive(for now) to help justify the cost of upgrading. I actually think it’s a good thing because if it was on PS4, it might hold back the PS5 version and give you even less reasons to upgrade to next generation.

For example, I think the One X having mostly the identical line-up with slightly worst graphics is what’s hurting the Series X. I can basically experience most of what the Series X/S has to offer on my One X. Yes, I am aware that most of PS5 offerings are on PS4 as well, so they aren’t necessarily much better.

Yeah you should be annoyed, it's obvious it was a PS4 game for most of it's development and was moved across at some point. There's nothing about the game really that should keep it from the PS4, except the obvious, Sony badly needed another PS5 exclusive. Tone down the graphics a tad, lower fps to 30 and of course expect longer load times and boom, we have a game that could easily port to the PS4 and PC) imho. I suspect we will get a PC port eventually anyway, you might get a PS4 version in a year or so, but don't hold your breath ;)

Why so many people think a ps3 game couldn't run on a ps4? Or that it would be a horrible experience for whatever reason?

OP isn't asking for anything much, even a remaster with the same visuals of the ps3 would cut, and it would definitely run pretty well.
Looking from that angle it is indeed kinda of annoying from sony, its pretty obvious they just did it to sell more consoles.

Yeah and its a bit of the disappointing part. PS4 owners were crying out loud to get it, and its now the entry point to sell you a PS5. Oh dont get me wrong here, one day i will buy a PS5 and will buy this game! Its just a bit sad to see its not crossgen.

It's a next gen exclusive, and it wouldn't look like this if it wasn't, it wouldn't just lose "a bit" of graphical quality. That's how you launch a next generation, with great new exclusive games to the new console.

Man, I remember being super pissed when Super Mario 64 wasn't also released on SNES.

How about a Demon Souls remaster for the ps4 then?
Pretty sure that ps3 game with some higher res/fps would run perfectly well on the ps4

I’m completely fine with their approach. They need to give consumers a reason to purchase the new console early on to justify all their R&D and investment costs into the PS5. It’s a slippery slope you’re playing with because you could be saying the same thing about every game over the next 3-5 years. Just give us downgraded versions!

No thanks, loving Demon’s Souls and the PS5.

No cause I don't want cross gen titles when it comes to a new console, I want those big name games to show off, Backwards compatibility is one thing, but tbh I want more next gen

Did Blue Point confirm that Demon Souls remake was only going to be Ps5 indefinitely or was the verbiage suggestive that a PS4 (PS4 Pro) version could eventually be released?

Nah, game looks tight on PS5 and i don't even have one.
I prefer it this way, Bluepoint pushed as much as they could with PS5 as the target platform.

Also, BC it's kinda cool but i can't give to fucks for asking downports of games, let the new gen start already.

Not that I don’t understand some desire to keep getting new games, especially if you don’t have the means, or the availability to get a new system...

But I miss when the contract was explicit. If you wanted next-gen games, you shushed, and bought a next-gen console.

The former is a nice thing to do. The latter creates real progress. And that’s what we see with DS on PS5.

Bad enough that PS4 claimed Sackboy and Spider-Man. I’m glad we got one actual full next-gen game.

Because they decided that the best path to take, both for the game and business wise, was to make the game PS5 exclusive.

Nobody is giving you the finger. Next gen games come with next gen hardware, that's what all gamers want, right? Games to show off what the new machine can do? I understand the Series X|S launched with no games, but I thought as people that liked games, we wanted to see our new consoles get a work out, no?
