You can’t see that yet can see the full benefit of any resolution difference? Blind or disingenuous?Does it, though? I've seen the claim but I don't see it with my eyes.
Where is it?

tbh, 1260p on next gen consoles is pretty trash. I think we need to take a good hard look at our hard-ons for 60 fps games because its clear that even with these fancy 8 core 16 thread CPUs, the GPUs simply cannot do native 4k 60 fps or even 1440p 60 fps in xsx's case.No no no, resolution is all that matters!!!!
This is absolute nonsense - fact. The only decent TV is the CX that does VRR and it looses the image quality colour when doing it.
I play on C7 and it does not like dips into the 50s, but has fanstatsic iQ with blacks that you cannot go back to greys.
If you play on a TV that does VRR your loosing alot of IQ, there is no good VRR TV at the moment - fact. If there was I would buy it.
Some people dont mind low quality picture monitors or TVs, some of us do mind.
If you want to tell us which model has great VRR and picture qality, please share the model. Most of them are poor compared to LG OLED.
Maybe when Mini LED or micro come out we will have a good solution to blacks and VRR, up until that point its poor.
They saw the flag physics no problem, must have been looking for an XBOX advantage in the haysack....Which is what you want, good eye for detail and anomalies, but they normally can't see any PS advantage, it's oh so curious.PS5 also has improved texture filtering than XSX. But Digital Foundry of course couldn't spot it.
You are forgetting this is DRS, XBOX upper bounds does not mean it's at 2088p throughout......It's not a fixed resolution....Average resolution could be very close between the two, with PS5 holding a much better framerate.....PS is basically 60fps whilst XBOX is 56fps, that is a massive difference in average framerate.......XBOX needs to lower this resolution and we also need to see this game in more tasking scenarios.....It looks like for the most part, PS5 has a large overhead over 60fps, hence why it's keeping itself so steady during gameplay...Series X is already buckling under stress, so more stressful points with more enemies and players on screen will probably push Series X to the 40's, going by this demo....It's not really small amount:
1800p: 5 760 000px
2088p: 7 750 656px
Absolutely, but we don't have the average pixel count (do we?), so upper and lower bounds are the only ones which could be compared. They saw the flag physics no problem, must have been looking for an XBOX advantage in the haysack....Which is what you want, good eye for detail and anomalies, but they normally can't see any PS advantage, it's oh so curious.

Yep straight over my head....ma bad.LOL
I was actually on your side.
I said it makes the person POSTING that stupid shit look pathetic not the reacter, you were the one reacting.
Read before you react to things.
The DEMO for Outriders was pretty meh, also it's hilarious people are calling it a loss for Series X because it has a higher resolution, this is a DEMO so things will change.
She puts the lotion in the basket.
I think someone is one angry boy.
1080p versus 900p "substantially higher"1800p versus 1944p: "substantially higher"
No cloth physics on PS5 = "Minor bug to be fixed by launch"
Xbox Series frame-rate dips = "LOL" Coolright.png Anotherone.png
1080p versus 900p "substantially higher"
We are going to keep having this 'fight' about resolution vs fps, aren't we?
So far summary:
- One X is close to 4k (1944p), but struggles frame time wise and on the top of that it's just 30fps
- PS5 is 1800p max (lowest 1260p), holding 60FPS without issue
- XSX is 2088p max (lowest is 1440p), dipping regulary to 55FPS
- XSS is 1440p max (lowest 900p), dipping regulary to 45FPS
- PS5 have gimped physics, XSS have lower details in comparison to 2 current gen system
- PS5 have more samples for motion blur, producing clearer IQ in motion.
Wait, we are getting too philosophical for simple meme.

PS5 version has worse lighting and other graphical effects. it looks awful in comparison. It's a confusing one, even though PS5 is the obvious winner, but Xbox platforms should be optimized better (have more aggressive DRS).
I approve this.Since resolution doesn't matter, PS5 should drop to 1080p so it can reach 120 fps.
Diminishing returns. But note that higher resolution is a real benefit to IQ.Remember those good ole days when we could look at screen and see the difference instead of depending on DF and their pixel counting tools?
XSX, XSS
- terrible frame pacing during combat
- framerate all over the place, especially on the XSS
- more importantly, both XBX suffer from a terrible motion blur
PS5
- better in every aspect, except resolution
- motion blur is minimal, cleaner IQ
- better frame timings

Just run it in 8k. Another one.Since resolution doesn't matter, PS5 should drop to 1080p so it can reach 120 fps.

I get that resolution isnt everything but when you start hitting 1260p, it starts to look really blurry on 4k screens. 1440p already looks soft as it is. I'd rather games try and hit 1800p at 30 fps with higher graphical fidelity. 30 fps shooters like Gears, Uncharted, Mass Effect and Halo felt great to play. You just need good motion blur and proper framepacing.
Well it's still demo, to be honest. Like demo, real one, if you 'memberIsn't that dynamic day cycle? Overall, devs have fucked it up. The goal as always stable 60fps, from their you start pushing for better IQ.

It's just that foregoing framerate stability altogether for it...

That indeed has to be noted, it's been so long since we had real demo, not an early acces, not a beta, not a shitty build available for a week before the release of a game.Well it's still demo, to be honest. Like demo, real one, if you 'member

Series X was supposed to be the true 4k + 120fps console.PS5 continues to be the one true 60fps console.
Am I doing it right?
Shakin' RNSo early in the gen and the PS5 already lowering effects in some games. Like our good old Era friends would say "Yikes"!

Like classic said:seems like a clear win for SX.
the trend has been, SX marks clean wins on Dmc5, hitman and now this.
Probably yeah, but it depends on more factors, it's hard to say it like that. Lets say you can do alpha effect at half res, without needing to lower the output res of the whole picture, if that make sense, there are ton of variables to tweak.I am gonna assume that the missing flag physics in the PS5 demo is just a bug. I can't see a reason why that shouldn't be in there.
As far as the XsX having higher resolution, PS5 having higher framerate, I am curious if this is something that can be better optimized on both, or if the XsX will just get a lower DRS target (probably more in line with PS5) to attain stable 60?
Or maybe it could even work the other way, where XsX keeps it's resolution targets but is able to lock at 60 with some optimizations before launch, and maybe there is headroom already there for PS5 to keep the 60 fps lock it already has and go a little higher with the average resolution?
Fixed it
