THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake || Nintendo Switch Trailer

This was announced some time ago, but this is the first footage. The remake is being done by the same team who did the Panzer Dragoon Remake.

The voice acting seems very true to the original :messenger_tears_of_joy: (a good choice I think - it all adds to the B-movie vibe)

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake is a remade version of the game introduced in 1997 in arcade platform. A classic arcade rail-shooter receives a whole new entourage and gameplay changes to suit modern gaming standards.
FEATURES:
• Hordes of the undead monstrosities in a fast-paced rail-shooter.
• True to the original gameplay.
• Well know arcade classic with modern graphics and controls.
• Multiple endings.
• 1-2 players

I think the original arcade version still holds up pretty well. The low-poly models have a creepiness to them. Given how rushed the Saturn version was, it's nice to get a good home port finally. I hope they can include an emulated version of the arcade version (although they didn't for the Panzer remake, so this is unlikely)

This is really cool, definitely on my radar.

Though I will say whatever that blip sound is, is EXTREMELY distracting. I think it's when their score was going up? Christ, it's so loud in the mix, lmao.

Took me totally by surprise. Loved these games back in the day. Cool!
I wonder how using the joycon as a light gun will work? You guys think it will be accurate? I miss light gun games, although there are some fun ones in VR.
Oh yeah joycons are fine for point and shoot. This will be perfect.

That's pretty cool, really hope it uses the same OST but obviously rerecorded.

I have the Japanese Saturn version, actually played through it the other month. Really fun game. I wonder if this will make a dent in the NA Saturn version price. It goes for like hundreds of dollars (it ain't worth it, lol).

Wait I'm confused, does Sega not publish their own IPs anymore?

Edit: I know Nintendo isn't publishing this, but several Sega IPs have not been publish by Sega themselves lately.

Can someone please explain how lightguns work on the Switch.
Does the system have a motion bar or something?

I know next to nothing about the Switch console - but I do plan on getting one when/if the Pro version comes out.

Looks cool, also looks like they've toned down some of the saturation issues PD Remake had. I personally wouldn't of mind a port of Scarlet Dawn (which remains arcade/FEC-exclusive), but this is neat as well.

Hopefully it gets a PC release at some point, too, like the PD Remake release did.
Art direction is awful, I'll pass unless the original game is included.

IMO this actually hits the original's art style much closer than the PD Remake did for the original Panzer. They've gotten a lot better and it gives me hope they'll be very close art style-wise for Zwei and (potentially) PD Saga.

Speaking of a Saga remake I'm interested in seeing how the Azel Resurrection project shapes up because the concept art so far is great.

Doesn't look good to me. I'm not wanting anything special either, but I didn't feel the thing that HotD holds. Maybe in the final version tho

How do you shoot for something like this? I don't get it
Gyroscope in the joycons.
Maybe a third party will have a plastic gun shell ready?

The way the pointer was moving in the OP's video looked like they where controlling it with an analogue stick though.

Is there still a market for rail shooters?

The were so popular back in the days because of few factors:

1. Top graphics on the market, everyone wanted to see the next best looking game - this is not the case here, game looks avarage
2. Amazing arcade cabinets or really cool home console guns - sorry but joycons don't make the cut
3. There was really no other way to have good fps shooting mechanics back then - when the 3d fps games started taking off, they wiped out rail shooters off the market

Plus that games were really short - I dont believe people still would like to pay for a game in which main story line ends under 60 minutes.

One of the Joycons has an IR sensor, i hope it somehow can emulate a lightgun. The gyro in the joycon it's pretty bad and even using the DS4 gyro was less than ideal in games like this.

I love HotD and Light Gun games in general. Im not digging this art style. Will stick to the original releases.

If anyone has a Wii, 2 and 3 are on there as a bundle.

PC plus Sinden light gun would be the definitive way to play this, hope they won't screw up and not release it outside of consoles.

I'll wait to see how well the controls work and how it reviews. Even if it's just a little sluggish, it can ruin the whole experience.

Art direction and particularly color choices seem to suffer the same issues as the Panzer Dragoon remake.

I played both the Saturn game and the Dreamcast sequel back in the day, sadly I can't play them on my TV anymore. I'm in for a physical release of this even though expectations are kind of low.

As a huge fan of the series, I like the updated look, but this is just not the same without a lightgun. Hopefully VR saves HotD fans.

House of the Dead features some of the greatest story telling and voice cast in modern video games.

I wonder if they'll include the Challenger Shuttle disaster audio like the Saturn version for bonus controversy driven sales?
