Fifa 22 and soccer videogames future

Today, some of the biggest clubs in Europe have announced the creation of the European Superleague, something similar like what already happens in basketball, a closed competition with the best of the best teams.

In response to that FIFA, UEFA and the national leagues where those teams play have said that they will ban those teams from playing in any of their competitions.

What do you think will happen with soccer videogames? Fifa without the biggest teams doesn't really make a lot of sense.
Will another company sign a deal with the super league and create a new videogame?

I still can't believe they're going to do that, I'm astonished. I hope they come to an agreement.

Anyway, fifa without those clubs doesn't make sense. Are they going to remove their players too from fifa games? Who would buy packs if you know you can't get Messi, Ronaldo etc?

EA will just buy the rights again.

Do you think this will stop EA from pushing microtransactions and DDA mechanics ?

There might be shitstorm going on for now but there is too much money for fifa, uefa and EA to lose. They will find a common ground.

Maybe is a stupid/unquantifiable question but how much do FIFA make from the computer games vs the real life sport? Is it comparable or one is way above the other?

I've never been a sports guy so I have no idea but I'd guess the IRL stuff is still more money.

Like there weren't enough soccer competitions already, let's make even another one league and play every damn day.

This sport is anime-level of ridiculousness.

the idea is not to add a new competition, but to get rid of champions because its a lot more money to the teams.

Its a hell lot of money both in real life and videogames. You know one of those situation wheres theres so many zeroes that is hard to count.

fuck the americans. their "football" is basically shitbag rugby. a bunch of guys who wear padding + helmets who like to wrestle and feel each other up. they rarely even touch the ball with their feet. so why on earth is it called football?

I'm European. I choose Soccer instead of football because we are on a mainly US-based forum and it would be easier to understand than to get 50 replies talking about their football
pathetic.

Exactly. EA has infinitely more money than Konami for that sort of thing.

EA makes 10x more net profit than Konami (ie the entirety of Konami Holdings, not just Konami the video games publisher).

This might IMO be a big chance for MS, who can easily outbid EA - Playstation is already all over the place with advertisements during UEFA games, so naturally the FIFA crowd always picks up PS consoles no matter what because of that, that's wht PS brand is so strong here, especially UK, so if MS want's to win over some of that EU crowd, that would be their best bet, football is FUCKING HUGE here in Europe, so if only the newly created series succeed, there will be a huge userbase served on a plate to whoever will own own the licence rights.

EA will no doubt be sniffing around the treacherous cunts who have formed this Micky Mouse Super League to launch new footballing IP. I hope the whole thing backfires on everybody involved in the most brutal way possible and I include Utd, the club I've supported for over 30 years in that.

Grasping bastards.

You can say I’m exaggerating but this is historic opportunity for Microsoft in Europe (and the world) if they can become official sponsor of new Super League. You know, to see Microsoft and Xbox advertisement before and during games. They could finally begin to crack that outside-US Playstation loyalism. Since JP Morgan is allegedly behind this insurrection, I could see it happening. Complete American takeover of elite European football.

You think rugby players are tougher because they don’t have padding? lol

Wear a helmet and then get your head smacked by another helmet and tell me you’re fine.

Average nfl player is bigger, stronger, and faster than a rugby player. Half of which look like regular dudes walking on the street.

Yeah it's really fucked up. I'm really against it and it's 100% unfair. But from what I've read is becuase the UEFA eating like 90% or so from the profits and only giving pocket change to the clubs. It's said that this SuperLeague would give each club a 3.5B euro for a starter! And each club would gain more than 500M* euros in a yearly basis!

This disturbance isn't good but I understand why.

EDIT: Mistake.

Doesn't that make them like...braver?
Not really, all the armor NFL players wear give them a false sense of safety, meaning they hit way harder than they would without protection.
Unfortunately kinetic energy travels straight through all that padding, wrecking the brain to the point of causing Chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

The super league is NEVER going to happen. FIFA, UEFA, all the European national leagues and even many of the players themselves are vehemently against it. National leagues say they will ban teams from competing, UEFA will ban teams from competiting in their tournaments, FIFA will ban players playing in the Super league from competing with their national team.

They are trying to create an American style league where the same teams compete all the time and will never be penalized for losing. European football is entirely merit based, with basically every team in existence in a country playing in the same "league" of that country, there's tiers of course, but when you do well in a season you move up a tier, when you do bad you move down a tier. You don't get rewarded like in US sports with better draft picks. The super league goes against the very soul of European football.

3.5 billions for all of them to share and noone nowhere is going to get billions of euros. You're mistaking billions for millions.

Are they hoping to use this whole thing as a sort of "threat" to renegotiate some things with FIFA/UEFA? Or do these teams legitimately think they'll be able to pull it off?

I don't know. It seems to me the big clubs have the force to negotiate on their hands. La Liga without Real Madrid, Barça and Atletico de Madrid would be nothing. It would lose most of the viewers. The same thing with the Champions League. Those clubs have a really big following which is a really big hand during a negotiation.

Lol.
Its a fact that superleague its gonna happen. Like with FiBA in the 2000s.
The faster the uefa accepts it, the better for them.

Nah, hope there is a loopehole for the British government to snatch Manchester United from those filthy Glazers as a national entity, let the Glazers fuck themselves along with other foreigners who give zero fucks about the heritage of football.

Manchester United is the right of the fans, especially the Mancunians. This came out of no where and all true Man United fans are against it.

If not, let's have Newton Heath back, let them go with Manchester United and be banned from the city.

i am for it. i hope they will create new league.

because i would like to see the highest level football everyweek, not like now, you have to wait til CL quarter finals to watch proper high end football. in the new league, in 3 weeks time, you could watch all what whole CL season can offer. UEFA had so much time to change, but they chosed to rake billions and done nothing to push forward. all of this because they were greedy. FIFA and UEFA are two shit organizations.

That's what I'm thinking, they want leverage to negotiate easier qualification for Champions League for these big clubs to guarantee them income.

I think 'official paint supplier' is the saddest phrase I've ever heard.

Being a Spurs fan is one of the most depressing things in my life. Seriously, I have to be some sort of masochist or on the wrong end of some spectrum to still be one.

But at least Moaninho is gone.

You might want to read how Real Madrid and Santiago Bernabeu pushed to get the current format of Champions. That way you might understand why this is the first battle of a war. Of course you wont win to a monopoly mafia org like the EUFA in 2 days.

I don't really understand, why can't they play in the FIFA or UEFA leagues if they play in the ESL? Can't they just play in all of them?

Mourinho was the best chance they had a major title if they had stuck with him. Mourinho picked only three transfers. Reguilon, Hojbjerg and Rodon. Hojbjerg is one of the best players in the premier league this season for me , an absolute beast with very consistent performances and he always gives 110%. Reguilon has had a really great season as well, one of the best in the league in his position. Rodon was shaping up to be a solid center back from his recent performances. Aldewareld, Dier and Sanchez just aren't good enough and Aurier, though good is too just inconsistent and unpredictable. I just think if Jose had had the opportunity to bring in a few more players that he chose, the team would've been serious contenders. Mourinho has won titles everywhere (except Spurs), even Man United he managed to win the Europa League with a group much poorer than Ole has now. He won a historic treble with Inter Milan who hadn't been winning much before he got there and haven't won anything since he left. He won the Champions League with Porto who hasn't really won anything since. Who are they gonna get now? If Chelsea hadn't gotten Tuchel, he would've been a good fit maybe but now, the same English losers who always get sacked or some Italian long past his expiration date. In any case the revolving door of managers in never a good thing for a club, it tells the players that they're in charge, they will feel like they will have more longevity than the manager: "no need for me to listen to the manager, he'll be gone soon". For results and trophies in the long run consistency is key. From what I read Harry Kane backed Mourinho and was not particularly happy about the sacking, my guess is that his decision to leave is now made. I'd expect Son to also leave. These guys are world class and in their prime, they can't afford to be wasting time at a club with no project or ambition. Maybe before building that state of the art stadium they should've invested in some more good players.
