This has nothing to do with Call of Duty. This everything to do with EA cutting content but selling the game at a higher price.

If I'm thinking about it a little more, and this is my own free mind and not reading the stupidity that threats become, if the content and gameplay is there and solid like it always is then I'm not sure what necessarily to be upset about other than agreeing that the price of entry could be a little lower. No campaign means less resources in paying voice actors and all the stuff that campaigns and tail so it needs to be really good gameplay wise for me too justified on the price. As far as the gameplay I'm sure that will be less in question. I welcome all the new technology and seemingly new gameplay possibilities due to the gameplay elements and destruction with the weather added as well.

Jacksfrags described it as "progressing the story" in a way. Every 3 months. New free and paid tier battle passes. All gameplay related things are free. Cosmetics paid. New operators, maps, guns, vehicles, etc are free.

Why do people keep saying this is a $70 game? I haven't paid more than $60 for a standard edition game... ever? And even at $60, i think people should stop and wait to see the amount of game/content we actually get for that $60/70. Yes, i know only 7 maps but that's at launch... i think it will pan out and do well for them. People have been waiting for a modern BF for a long time now.

Not a surprise. It will go like this, after a while they will make a lite version(original game free), and you have to pay for the seasons. Then the game will be GaaS. Thankfully, I do not like shooters that much.

Welp i guess i should have looked at the preorder page before opening my mouth haha ... greedy ass EA charging $70 for standard edition X|S too. Sheesh. $99 gets you a full year of battle passes, skins, cross gen game install. I may just spring for that instead. HOPEFULLY they handle the battlepass well and the extra $30 for a whole year of cosmetic crap is worth it cause you know these are gonna prob be $10 per season separately.

I will probably buy it eventually as the design of maps is very reminiscent of bf4 - but it seems like they went out of their way to avoid showing what people like me want like enhanced destruction. Looking to be proven wrong with an actual gameplay trailer, however it doesnt seem like a pre order to me. More like watch Jackfrags and Stoddeh play before buy

For this to be justified it would have to be one of the best online shooters of all time. Can they pull it off? Maybe, we'll see. I can say that my interest in this game has gone down significantly in the last couple hours. Hopefully the gameplay blows us away.

I don't get why EA wants 70€ for MP-only game either.
The reveal gameplay better leave a cew jaws dropped, I honestly cannot see the game doing well where thete are so many F2P, large scale MP games out there, as well as CoD which for the same price will give you a top-notch, blockbuster SP campaign, robust co-op, and MP with all the game nodes ever invented and a ton of maps. I honestly now hope the game bombs even harder than BF5, EA needs to finally learn something. Paid seasons pff, good luck with having a healthy community EA.

I'm completely okay with the decision to get rid of the campaign, but all these seasons and adding specialists, etc. I'm not. It just turns the game into a clusterfuck eventually. It always turns into too much balancing and rebalancing and changing the feel and how the game plays.
Not sure if I'll be playing this one. If I do it'll be years down the road most likely.

No campaign means I'll pass. Bummer, COD's futuristic campaign entry was one of my favorite, was looking forward to the BF one.
If there's a free beta I will 100% check it out before making a decision on if / when to purchase. But without the benefit of any gameplay videos / demo / beta, I cannot possibly justify paying EA 70 (or 80 for dual version) for a multiplayer only shooter that will have 4 paid seasons per year on top of that. Getting rid of single player, and paid seasons by themselves are not deal breakers for me. But both combined with a full retail price are tough to swallow for a cross gen game that hasn't lived up to its former glory for multiple iterations.

All guns and maps will be free. The battle pass is for cosmetics only.
Is that (purely cosmetic only) confirmed? It will certainly be a factor for me if so, but this is EA after all.

They stated that maps, guns and gameplay stuff is free. There is also a free version of each battlepass that will include "some" cosmetics. I have no idea if the specialists are free or not. Waiting for confirmation.

Yeah. Multiple content creators were invited to a pre-press briefing. Levelcap and JackFrags both have talked about it in their release videos.
Guns and maps are free because they want to avoid dividing the player base.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I saw the specialists mentioned alongside the guns and maps as being free. Because giving a specialist to some and not others divides the player base and that is what they are trying to avoid.
Though obviously I assume there will be some crazy skins that are only available in the pass, but I don't really care about that myself.

I've got zero issue with paid skins, unless I suppose the camo provided meaningful advantages (which I've never experienced yet in games that charge for cosmetics).
