Forza Horizon 5 Official Announce Trailer

Just watched it again on m tvs 4k youtube app.

If Playground can do this for a cross gen open world, the FM should look incredible.
I think this is more of a Horizon 2 situation, with the last gen version being a down ported game, as oppose to a Halo Infinite style cross gen game.
I think 4k/30 and i would guess 1440p/60 on XSX, and 1080p/30 and i would guess 720p60 on XSS, well that kind of shows that. I think this game is like the Horizon 2 situation, and built for Series consols first, and the XB1 version will be a down port.

Hmm...I wonder if these guys are working on an RPG, by chance :pie_thinking: ?....

Anyway yeah, this game looks flippin' phenomenal. This the kind of gameplay showcase Halo Infinite needed last year (and this year; maybe they'll do one closer to launch). Right up there with FS 2020, Rift Apart, Demon's Souls remake and Forbidden West for best-looking games either out or coming by end of the year.

Gran Turismo has a LOT of work to do to catch up with Forza now, between this and Forza Motorsport proper (which should look even better than Horizon 5 if that's even possible). Best of luck, Polyphony Digital!

Not to start console wars but Polyphony Digital doesn't need any luck when it comes to creative a photorealistic racing game. These guys are obsessed with detail and it shows in their games.

You could well be correct here. What they showed earlier was unbelievable

i wonder what the resolution will be for the 60fps mode as it says it’s 4K 30fps on series X and 1080p 30fps on series S.

Also what is everyone’s total game time on forza horizon 4? i have 479 hours on it :messenger_tears_of_joy:

You can also expect powerful, all-new graphical features like HDR captures of the vibrant Mexican sky, sweeping vistas, and an unparalleled attention to detail. Available in 4K 30 FPS on the Xbox Series X (1080p 30 FPS on Xbox Series S) with an optional 60 FPS performance mode, and ray tracing added to cars in Forzavista, you will be immersed in the open world of Horizon like never before.

No raytracing in gameplay, even at 30fps.

GT7 so far?

It still look very nice, despite the aggressive pop in/out and no raytracing. It's better to wait for both games to release then compare before spouting outrageous claims, although both are kinda different with one being arcadey open-world and the other circuit sim racing. Also GT is much bigger and one of the largest, most pristine eSports in gaming.

In any case, this the the best game shown so far on their conference.
I believe that PD is above and beyond with their presentation, but I also believe that it does not matter Horizon > F: Motorsport so the battle is not really about PD vs Turn 10, but Turn10 vs Playground Games. FH is just on another level, with....everything. I hope that Sony do some "party Grand Tourismo", because I think that these games offers a ton of fun time. And yes due to scale, they obviously cannot compete with the detail in GT games.

Where does it say 30fps on Series X?

I have no luck with different paint materials in forza. It looks like grainy texture instead of complex mulilayer shader for me.
Also Forza cars really need self reflections and properly self shadowing(especially rear lights self-shadowing) like this
6fqppmA.jpg
On self relfections i agree but its also not good in Driveclub, in photomode it gets better but in gameplay it fals apart. And the same goes for the paint job in game the paint shaders are not as good and have this weird muted tone to them. But i agree with you that Forza should have proper ray traced self reflections in game, thats the only thing that bothered me in 4.

And for the paint shaders, even Forza horizon 3 had those multi layer paint shaders, in fact Forza Motorsport 5 was the 1st game that had it.

It just doesn't make sense that they say 4K@30fps and it still has jaggies in the gameplay footage, and that's without ray tracing. For current gen 30fps shouldn't be an option for car games and first person view games like shooters. And why 1080@30fps on the S? What would be for 60fps then? And all of that with no RT?

I agree with this, but I am honestly blinded by all of that gameplay goodness, I think it looks great and for me this is like a "close to my heart" experience. I agree that it could be better, however FH2 > FH3 was a massive jump, so I hope for this too. I rather take the game now with these constraints than wait. I admit that when it comes to this game, I cannot be objective, this franchise means a ton of good memories for me and I simply don't care about this sort of stuff.

I know I should, but:

It is a wonderful game, a must buy for PC/Xbox.

That is something where Polyphony Digital always excells.
The lighting looks so much more real in GT games than in any Forza Motorsport entry.
In Motorsport the cars always had a little bit off/cartoonish look thanks to the light.

And for the love of detail: I think on Motorsport the quality varies between the cars. Some cars look better, some not.

But without both game franchises (GT and Forza) we wouldnt be there where we are right now. Both of them push the simcade racing gerne to the max IMO

We have seen the gameplay footage of GT7 also with low rez shadows pop in and there was also no sign of ray tracing in game. Also GT7 isn't even comparable to Forza Horizon 5 in its current state the environments alone look a generations apart and the ray tracing in those garage scene's and replays are all low rez and low poly. But it would be fair to compare it against Forza Motorsport, both are closed circuit racers at 4k60. This game is in a league of its own.

For GT its a case of less variety but higher quality and it's the opposite for Forza but you're spot on. Both are good and have their own unique strengths and weaknesses.
Just thankful I can get a simcade on both Xbox and PlayStation.

Those GT7 textures belong on PS4, of course they gonna run that at 4K60 with RT lol. And comparing a track racer to open world racer? I can only smh. Show me another open world game doing 60fps RT on consoles.

Forza Horizon 5 will have a campaign mode. Hope it's good! The big thing will be whether I want to play on my XSX with performance mode or just run it off my 3060 Ti for better quality at 1440p and high frames...

good thing I have Game Pass Ultimate

The trolling can start, the screen capping, 500% zooming, all that can start, but the fact is FH5 is by far the best looking racer ever, and arguably the best looking game full stop.
Now bring on the smilies, but its only yourself looking stupid in this case.

This looks absolutely incredible. I need to get Horizon 4 at some point before 5 comes out in November.

Also interesting that two of the best looking upcoming games have Horizon in their title. Horizon Forbidden West and now Forza Horizon 5.

Er the gameplay demonstration is clearly 60fps. Even the trailer is 60fps.

Did they mentioned it? To me clearly wasn't 60fps smooth. Or maybe it is up to youtube stream

Show me another open world game doing 60fps RT on consoles.

couldn’t tell from the twitch stream, so the footage of gameplay was the 60fps mode with ray tracing?

FH5 won't have RT in gameplay at all in neither mode. Only in Vista.

Naah. Like i've said, envinroment geometry looks good. But it is low res and also noticed pop-ups. Photogrammetry can look good ( like in MGS 5 ) but also can have it's flaws, low res geometry are one of them.

Gt7 looks...lol

That's a very blurry picture lol. The cars in GT7 look impressive, but the environments look really unimpressive and lack detail. Horizon 5 textures are miles ahead of GT7 even though it's an open world game. Polyphony does usually improve the looks with time so let's wait and see.

I really hope 4K 30 is a typo on that webpage (one can hope, there's been typos before lol). The vid on YouTube is listed as 2160p/60.

Pop-in was barely noticeable compared to GT7 or even the recent Horizon Forbidden West showing. I'm yet to see any new game without pop-in. Only Unreal showed a demo without pop-in, but that was a demo.

Like i said to the other guy, there are 2 4k high bitrate vids in the very first post of this thread you have been posting in lol.
Cant believe people are trying to argue over this when all they have watched is the low rez 30fps conference stream.

It actually took me a while to notice the pop in, and thankfully is further out than most games.
Like you said though, we are always going to have pop in. GPU's still have polygon limits, and better IO and all that isnt going to cure that.

It was not barely noticeable. It is noticeable, especially during Canyon scene.

So what. They've mentioned officially that there will be a 4k/30 mode. That's why i've suspected why showcase was at 30.

But regardless, people shouldn't fight over this stuff, we are living in somewhat of a golden era for racing games/sims. Even rfactor 2 and iracing look great these days with recent PBR updates:

You realize there are 2 high quality vids of the demo and gameplay in this very thread right?, check the OP.
had to go watch the vids i couldn’t wait haha but yeah definitely is much smoother than the footage i saw on twitch. do you think it’s 1440 or 1800p 60 for performance mode then?
