Got an early access code so will be trying this later. 26GB download. Early impressions seem to be good?

Really enjoying the beta. Group I was in wiped on the ferry - we made it to the end with one person left but they got caught in the big bomba. Still had a great time and you still make progress. The entire time I kept thinking "this is going to succeed spectacularly." The gunplay the enemy design (although some of the AI is a bit derpy), the terror at seeing some monstrosity clip-clopping their way across the bridge. The Ogre (might be my biggest "what in the truck" moment of the year).

. . .also the game runs FLAWLESSLY on the PS5. And I mean flawless. I imagine it is a similar situation on the Xbox. Speaking of Playstation and Xbox - cross-gen and cross-play out of the box without any hoops to jump through from SONY. Fantastic.

Really like the movement system, creates really fluid gameplay

I was surprised by the parkour when I did it; gave me a real DYING LIGHT vibe (I mean not as much freedom but it is close).

Really surprised by this, went in expecting a very cheap version of Left 4 Dead and was going to play maybe 5 mins see what it’s like and ended up playing for a solid hour which for me is a lot these days.

Gameplay is rock solid and the balance has been really thought out it’s excellent me and my mates love a bit of cod zombies and this will be the perfect evolution of that. Just hope they play it.

My impressions after a few hours with the beta can pretty much be summarized as:

Yep, this is L4D 3.
I don't know if the progression and card system will be any good in the long run, but I'll get the game just for the campaign. I'm sure this will be great with 4 ppl in TeamSpeak on expert difficulty.
My only critique is that this really doesn't have the production/visual standards I'd expect from a 60+ EUR game.
But since I got a reservation for 39 already that doesn't phase me anymore.

more impressions if you have them please? I can’t get enough news about this game. I’d love to see a bit more video too if anyone has seen some out in the wild

I enjoyed it a lot. Played for an hour or two yesterday. Honestly the only problem I had was a dumb AI Bot we got in our group at one point. (Didn't have 3 friends to play with, so we matchmade with a person, who then left and we got a bot, and the bot was an idiot who kept falling off a cliff)

This game is definitely L4D3. If you liked/loved L4D, this game is definitely for you.

I want to play it on Steam(yes I know gamepass, I still want it on steam) but that ridiculous price tho, wtf. I dont give a shit about graphcis but man, this shit better have some good ass long and many maps instead of relying on replaying them over and over but with different cards and shit cuz that would be cheap and boring.

I enjoyed it but devs... no FOV slider on new gen consoles in 2021, are you serious? Also the game was kinda laggy and the AI bots are horrible

I didn't get the lag, but the FOV slider missing is pretty bad especially with (at least to me) how zoomed in you are on your weapon.

So I randomly got a code from WB Games (did not pre-order). How do I access the beta? (Xbox)

Really enjoying the card system, it makes every run feel different and you can switch what you need on the fly, if I complete a run and notice I need more health for the next run I can choose it if it comes up, if it doesn't I have to figure some way to survive.

Even on Easy the game got difficult at points, cant imagine hard mode.

Tried to play it but couldn't because of one bug. When I aim down sight, the mouse freezes and I can't move it around.
So I can't aim at enemies, on a FPS.
Did a file check, reinstalled the game, but nothing fixed it.
Also, the first time I started the game, I could use DLSS.
But when I started the game a second time, this option was gone.
Seems to be a technical mess of a game, even for a preview.

And the weapons are too big, and take too much of the screen.

This. The advanced tab settings where fov is under on is is blank on PS5

Bigger baddies are bullet sponges it seems like.

Movement is so slow compared too L4D and the stamina system seems broken at times

Also having zombies and other monsters spawn right in front of you with out warning was a hell of a bug

I only played a level earlier, aiming seems a bit whack but it's solid enough. Doesn't look as bad graphically as the trailers made it seem.

I was a big fan of L4D and for me this game is just a gimmick with a far less good gameplay... I really dont like the feeling of the game...

Played 2 runs on Series S last night and enjoyed myself. Probably going to give it another hour or so later today. I remember The Orge in the tunnel wrecking my squad. Still learning the game's nuances in regards to the cards and deck building.

Better than previous builds, doesn't feel identical to L4D1/2, but that's to be expected. A lot of people are going in expecting a carbon copy of L4D and that's not exactly what's going on here. It's about AS CLOSE as we'll ever get to L4D3, but because it's a different IP there are differences like ADS, separate melee button, speed of the game, etc.

I played 1 full campaign map and attempted 1 Versus game. Didn't experience any insane bugs, though in the Versus game somehow it ended up just being me and one other dude and there was no one else on the other team, lmao. Didn't notice while being Cleaners, but when we were Ridden we were just hanging out by ourselves, lmao. Another buddy of mine said that a bot was holding an invisible machine gun for him, lol. Seems to be a bunch of random bugs across the board. Hopefully a lot of them are already fixed in the retail build. The bots absolutely NEED tweaking though, and I feel like the difficulties could still use some buffing/nerfing too.

Haven't had any issues with performance, turned off motion blur ASAP, and played with DLSS settings. But it was smooth with a 2080 and I had no issues. 🤷‍♂️

Some people are hating on the beta pretty bad, and it's pretty wild. As always, to each their own! To me, at its worst, I think it's decent if not slightly above that. But the full game experience could be a lot better, especially with a good group of pals.

As I stated in the other thread I ended up really enjoying this. I was on the fence before but now I'm definitely grabbing it on release (Steam). Do hope they address some of the more blatant performance issues though.

Ask me about my Stream Deck
I played for 90 minutes last night and was impressed with the overall experience. Relatively bug free for the most part. It was pretty clear some balance changes are needed though. I actually liked the card system, however I would have liked to see much more variety in the card effects. Perhaps that is already present in the decks you construct later. One thing that came up. One of the games I joined in progress was late in the act and so I was joining with few perks and no copper or guns. It basically gimped me to the point where we had to use several continues just to build up enough copper to buy guns in the safehouse. All in all the did a great job of capturing the Left 4 Dead fun while also adding in new loot mechanics.

For those of you who want a beta code for whatever system: look it up on Amazon. Pre-order the version you want PS4-PS5/Xbox Series/PC.

Amazon DOES NOT charge you for the pre-order! They will send you a beta code immediately once you "purchase the pre-order". Get your code, redeem it on your platform, download the beta
then go back on cancel your Amazon pre-order. Didn't cost you a penny and you didn't have to beg for a code.

Cheers!

As for my early impressions? As others have said-yes, this is basically Left 4 Dead 3 and that's not a bad thing. Turtle Rock is using the Unreal Engine 4 and it looks and plays beautifully. I'm still
trying to wrap my head around the "card" system but I'll eventually learn. I was mainly playing with all the guns they let you test out with scopes, stocks, silencers, grenades, etc in the base
camp. Loved that they let you do this. Very cool seeing all the weapons and trying all of them out to see what you like. Oh and melee weapons as well. They give you a nice "test range" with dummys,
plate heads, etc and they show dps with each weapon so you can really decide if you want stopping power or quick spray and pray type weapons.

Solid experience so far.

Definitely feeling that L4D vibe, if this was L4D3, I could see that, but it feels dated in some ways but good fun in others, I can see myself playing this a lot, especially with WH40K Darktide being delayed

Here's some raw uncompressed gameplay on the PS5 with 4K Settings. I noticed the game had more fps drops in 1080p mode than 4K mode. I have no idea what is going on there. Anyone else notice that or just me?

Played the beta for about 10 hours on PC. It feels generic and doesn't do anything better than L4D2. The game did a poor job explaining the card system. The characters feel very soulless. Mainly one liner dialogues. No witty banter between the characters like in L4D.

I certainly wouldn't pay full price for this. This is a game pass one hit wonder. I'd rather play L4D2 or World War Z. (And that game is fun, everyone should check it out!)

I didn't dive too far into it but are the cards one-time use? Or do you just collect them and can use them in any game you want?

I was told to "build a deck" and stuffed like every card I had into a "deck" and still had slots left over which seemed...excessive? But then started thinking maybe I burned all those forever.

The thing with the big arm is op. He needs to be tweaked. And please for the love of god add a quick turn around button or a dodge move.
