I don't care if it happens in one level at the beginning of the game, or if it happens only every once in a while. If the game has screen tearing or adaptive vsync, I will not buy it, PERIOD.
I can't believe even with all the power of the brand new consoles, we still have to put up with screen tearing. What's so hard about enabling vsync?
Vsync has almost no consequences these days. Double-Buffered vsync isn't even really used anymore, so you don't have to worry about your frame rate going from 60-30 for example or from 30-20.
It upsets me that games still use adaptive vsync rather than triple-buffered vsync that allows the frame rate to drop to say 58fps without screen tearing.
Will you get a couple stutters? Sure, but at least the image will be clean and not all cut up and broken. Not sure how anyone can think a sliced up image looks better than a couple stutters every now and again.
End of rant.
