So after God Of War Ragnarok, what's next from playstation studios? Cause right now personally speaking i'm not really that excited about anything from Sony right now "excepct of course GOWR the future GOAT".

Is that gonna be just 2 Marvel games and bunch of GaaS? Cause if that's so bruh that's a big downgrade from PS4 and PS3 era. Even Naughty doesnt excited me anymore. A remake of game that already looks and play great, and a multiplayer games. What about Insomniacs? are they gonna be locked behind Marvel Ips only? And Hermen and Jim the geniuses closed one of their most talented and innovative game studios aka Japan studios?

Am i the only Playstation fan that is not excited and worry about Sony studios future? Or am i just dramatizing? (i mean i hope i'm wrong, but facts speak for itslef)

Anyway discuss, would like to hear opinions of others on this.

Just waiting patiently for whatever Housemarque and Bluepoint are cooking… They will deliver.

Well, they still haven't gave me any reasons to get their latest console, so for me it's a "no but maybe?". They have a lot of talent, it's just that they aren't putting out anything I like... lots of superhero stuff which bore me, and no japanese stuff.

Hope they announce something cool on September. There's some Sony event scheduled for then, right?

They have a lot of stuff they haven't announced yet. Plenty of stuff to be shown off at the (hopefully) September showcase.

On top of this you have PSVR2 coming out soon which I'm more excited for than anything else. I think they will have some fantastic surprise launch titles ready for it.

Factions - better take out the P2W that plagued U4 and TLOU though. If they do that’ll be a fantastic game for 2023.

They will have something up their sleeve.

Don’t complain. I’m on the PS+ Premium train, Ragnarök isn’t coming this year.

I still have plenty of games to play though. Currently playing Returnal, after I’m done I’ll go through Horizon Forbidden West, then I have Shadow of the Colossus remake, Days Gone and Death Stranding to play too. Stray is there as well.

Not going to be worried before they've even announced the next wave of games. Wait till after their next showcase to decide that.

I'm most excited for the New IPS. Spiderman wasn't really up my alley and was the typical checklist open world game so if I play 2 itll be on sale. Factions is right up my alley, cant wait for it. Top 5 most anticipated game. And whatever Naughty Dog is working on after that. I hope they make more RPGs tho. Those usually what draw me in the most.

Naughty Dog and Santa Monica Studio working on brand new IP's.. Insomniac with Wolverine and Spider-Man 2. Plus smaller, yet quality studios like Bluepoint and Team Asobi games to look forward to.

Nah, I'd say I'm more excited for this upcoming generation of PlayStation than I've been in years.

Next big is spidey 2 then probably some multyplayer project, probably faction, then wolverine, then we are fucked.

Not really super hyped by any of these 3 tbh.

Curious to see the bluepoint and bend new games.

Hopefully we hear about it soon, I'm glad they seem to be moving away from announcing stuff too early.
I'm not really "worried" or upset, the only thing I don't like is that almost 2 years in we are still in the cross gen phase and getting charged a $10 premium for no fucking reason.

This year has been pretty solid with Horizon, Gt7, GoW and some good timed exclusive indies like Stray and Sifu.
IMO next year they can take it a bit easier as there's a ton of third party stuff coming (hopefully) and if we get Spiderman 2, Fractions and FFXVI (timed exclusive) it will still be a solid year IMO.
Then for 2024 I expect to see some cool new stuff we haven't heard about yet (+ Wolverine).

I guess if you already have a good PC and only got a Ps5 for the exclusives it might seem underwhelming. But IMO if you already got a PC there's not much of a reason to get a Ps5 anyway.

All I want is Spider-Man 2.

Have a feeling it’s going to be late 2023 at this rate though. Absolutely no info since the announcement trailer.

Hard to be excited not knowing what most of the studios are working on. That being said, based on previous releases, I have great expectations.

I agree with you OP a future focus on GaaS and multiplayer only worries me but i think Sony studios have proven that they are on average some of the best in the industry right now with the PS4 gen so i still have faith they will continue delivering quality single player experiences. Housemarque, Bluepoint next games, Ghost 2, Spiderman 2, that sci fi Cory Barlog game, PSVR2 and the next Team Asobi game. Only thing missing from them is a good arcade FPS and arcade racer, i would love if they gave Driveclub a second chance (although i know the studio closed) that game feels like old school NFS.

The main thing I'm interested in is FFXVI. Forspoken could turn out to be a decent game after price cuts.

I'll probably break down and get God of War, because I have a credit I have to spend before October or its gone, otherwise I'd probably wait on that one too. Spider Man was a lot of fun, but Miles Morales felt very samey to me. I'm hoping they depart from the formula significantly for part 2. Naughty Dog doesn't typically interest me, but maybe the new IP will.

Wolverine is pretty much the only thing I've heard about that sounds likely to meet my interests, if they go hard M rating. But I'm not expecting it to be substantially different from Spider Man or Arkham in terms of gameplay.

I'm excited a lot more about other companies currently. Capcom, Nintendo, Tecmo, MS (mostly because there's a lot of possibility, but it hasn't materialized just yet).

A lot of studios and a lot of unannounced projects. I cant wait to see Sony capitalise on owning Destiny tbh, a Single Player story driven game in the early days post collapse, a game following Cayde on some adventure, a game where you play as the Fallen as they embark on the exodus away from their Homeworld. There is so much they could do with just that one franchise.

Not really interested in Marvel or VR so nothing exciting for me.

But we know very little about Sony's 2023 plans so I'll just have to wait and see. Horizon 2 and Ragnarok should keep me occupied for the first few months of next year.

I’ve personally never worried about sonys 1st party output, they have yet to fail me as far as providing the types of games i like, whether through 3rd party or 1st.

But i feel like this thread would make more sense to post after they have their showcase, we dont know what a majority of their studios are doing outside insomniac

They told us last december they had over 25 games in development and that was before bungie and whatever else they greenlit since.

Sony hasn't shown shit, so it's hard to get excited. Hopefully they drop some bombs in September.

However, there's still lots to get excited about ON PAPER.

2023:
TLOU Factions
Spider-Man 2
PS5 VR
Bluepoint's next game?

And while it's not Sony first party, I think Forspoken looks spectacular from a gameplay aspect. Could surprise a lot of people.

I am excited for what they may do with a Spider Man 2 but that's about it. I am really hoping they have something up their sleeve to be excited about not announced.

Honestly, even God Of War doesn't really do much for me but I hope to be wrong.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
Its Sony. They deliver the goods. I am not worried.

Hm... I'm not too sure these days. Sony is investing heavily in multiplayer/GAAS and VR games. It's great that Sony studios are expanding, but I fear I won't be seeing more AAA single player games from them but actually less.

Report me if I continue to console war
The only sony games I care about are from Naughty dogs, housemarque and some of insomniac (but they need to improve, world interactivity and detail in spiderman was rather dull, rift apart was a blast though and the story in spiderman was great its just something I can go without and not be to fussed)
