Well to be fair, unlike Nolan Whedon is filming a superhero movie.

I like this man. Not that I think The Avengers looks any good at all, nor do I believe it will be better than The Dark Knight Rises under any capacity, but son, that was a good dig.

Yeah, there's no way in hell this isn't passing $200 million at the box office. It's going to have a marketing campaign that will be unmatched. I look for it to do more than $100 million opening weekend. I'm not sure whether it will hit $300 million at the BO, but $200 million total is a lock.

Hell, I'll take it further. I'll bet a one month ban that it doesn't break the $200m barrier in the US. That's how confident I am that it's not going to happen.
You're crazy. It would break that on the novelty and hype factor alone.

I like Whedon's scripts, but at least until Firefly (included) he's an horrible director, so...
I can understand finding fault with Whedon's writing/style but his work in directing television was outstanding so, LOL.

Your funeral, bro. Easy money.

Its passning 200 mil on the fact it has Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man

We'll see how much of a draw he is in Sherlock Holmes after the abysmal Iron Man 2. Movie did a whole lot of harm to the IM series and the actor.

It's also worth noting that IM2 opened down on IM1 when you look beyond the initial figures. It made 100m from a WW release whereas IM1 made just under 100m from a US/Canada release.

Nah, his bow shouldn't flop around when he 'opens' it, it should be more mechanical in nature, it really does look like two dildos attached to a metal rod.

Not all what I expected or hoped to see, should have been closer to the bow he has in the animated series, it's not like they need to stick to the more realist look, the movie has a God in it and a giant green monster and a man who was frozen for 50 odd years...

Damn son. This bow action is really bothering you.

I guess this movie is fucked.

I don't think so. Thor, Cap Am both opened modestly and didn't make much of an impact the BO. That gives you a rough idea of the kind of figures Avengers will pull in. People will see Cap Am, Thor, Hulk ( Hulk especially might turn out to be a negative, I know very few people who liked either Hulk movie, if they see him, I can guarantee it will turn off a number of people...) and think why do I want to see this when I couldn't be bothered to watch the standalone movies? It doesn't help that both trailers have been very dull/flat. There's just very little hype for the movie outside of message boards and fansites.

Unlike The Dark Knight Rises, where the teaser created a tremendous amount hype with people talking about for weeks afterwards. I still remember the crazy hype the day after it was released, people were watching the trailer on their phones, talking about who the big guy with the mask was, why Bats looked so scared/beaten...I can't think of a single time I've heard of anyone mention the Avengers trailer/movie.

We'll see. Opening weekend will set the pace - 60-70m and it will be downhill from there.

It looks cheap, tacky and something he threw together on a $10 dollar budget. Not something an expert bowman would ever use.

Tell me how I can blow up a dozen or two cars for maybe 2 dollars. And your reply will be convincing. Wait I read that wrong.

I took it as the entire movie. I need to learn to read. But yeah, that bow alone is still going to bring down the entire film.

I edited my post man. I misread.

I think the bow was intentionally made that way. Everything in the trailer looks intentional. If they wanted to, they could have more than easily used a stiffer model. Maybe it functions that way for a reason. Maybe it's for reaching faster velocities for the arrows. We still must keep in mind this is a comic book movie with gods and whatnot. And it obviously is not trying to be grounded and gritty. SHRUG.

Star Wars would have looked better if it weren't so pristine looking. Highest quality is not always best way to convey mood. X-Files benefited from grainy film because it was so dark. If it were high definition blackest blacks it would have taken something away.
Bingo. Film makers do what they can to hit what they're aiming for.
