Press release from Gamespress:
22nd February 2012 – They may have won the Football Frontier tournament but Mark Evans and his friends will need skills that are out of this world to take on their latest challenge in Inazuma Eleven 2, available across Europe exclusively for the Nintendo DS™ family of consoles and Nintendo 3DS™ from 16th March 2012. Brush up your stylus skills and prepare to play football like never before when the popular football RPG returns in two new versions, Inazuma Eleven 2: Firestorm and Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard!

Picking up the story of teenage goalkeeper Mark Evans and his football team one week after their triumph in the Football Frontier tournament, the Raimon Eleven begin a training session when their school is attacked by invaders from outer space from the mysterious Alius Academy. They plan to use a destructive brand of football to totally destroy the world – unless the Raimon Eleven can defeat them in a football match! Only by travelling across the whole of Japan and recruiting the country’s best football players can Mark and the Raimon Eleven find a way to stop Alius Academy and save the world!

Bringing back the unique mix of RPG elements and exciting football-based action, Inazuma Eleven 2 once again allows you to control the action on the pitch and the movement of your players by using the stylus. Tap and slide your stylus across the screen to change the direction of your players, take a shot or press your opponent’s team. With around 1500 players to encounter and recruit, only by creating the strongest, most balanced team will you succeed in the final match and defeat the Alius Academy.

Both versions of the game , Inazuma Eleven 2: Firestorm and Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard, offer the same overarching storyline with some unique differences. Each version features over 150 unique characters, unique teams to face off against, as well as unique abilities and special moves, but in order to meet other version characters you will have to trade and make important decisions on who to keep hold of and who to let go.

If you want even more challenges, Inazuma Eleven 2 features a local wireless multiplayer mode where up to four users can challenge each other with their hand-picked teams, including those who own the first Inazuma Eleven game. You can also trade players using local wireless communications, and a Teamshare mode allows you to trade teams with other players and battle their teams.

If you love RPGs and sports action with a strong blend of strategy and an engrossing storyline then brush up on your stylus skills as Inazuma Eleven 2: Firestorm and Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard launch across Europe on 16th March 2012, exclusively for the Nintendo DS family of consoles and Nintendo 3DS.
That's right. Football, with aliens.

I will buy Blizzard because Fubuki > Gouenji (whiny prick).

Version differences of the top of my head.

General differences:
Different recruitable players

Firestorm:
More story on Gouenji
Exclusive Boss team:
Prominence
Secret player and team:
(Endou's grandson from the future)

Blizzard:
More story on Fubuki (so it's more like the anime)
Exclusive Boss team:
Diamond Dust
Secret player and team:
(Gouenji's grandson from the future)

It's not like you can't play the game on your 3DS. Besides, this game was made in 2009. It's not like it'll magically become a 3DS game.

Still not up for pre-order on Amazon DE. There's also no mention of this on Nintendo's page.
I think they don't care at all and would rather have us buy Kid Icarus the following week.

It is on Amazon FR so I guess it'll arrive soon on Amazon DE.

Anyway it's damn expensive for a DS game... 39.99 euros (=53.57 $ US). That's a little bit more expensive than Uncharted Golden Abyss...

I'll just copy and paste what I wrote in the other thread about this.

Is UK counting as Europe this time?!

I just finished the first one yesterday, awesome game and will definitely pick this one up. (Superior Blizzard)

Nothing has changed.

Are there any changes to the actual gameplay in matches, or is it exactly the same as the first?

Also, are there still random battles in this one? Are they still the same 4-a-side, first goal wins type stuff? Are they just as frequent?

The random battles annoyed me in the first game, I just wanted to play the 11-a-side matches.

Who knows what's going on with the UK. They're the only ones without an anime dub somehow, or even if they have one, they're nowhere near where the other European countries are at right now. Or so that's what people tell me anyway.

No major changes to actual gameplay in matches, that's in game 3. Still has random battles, still as frequent. I can't imagine how I could level up my team without them as annoying as they are.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
It's not DSi enhanced is it? I want to be able to play it on my US DSi. I hope it releases in the UK at the same time.

Isn't that why you had the friendly matches?

Then when you finish the game you get the extra competition route.

There were plenty of 11 a side stuff away from the story.

Pretty sure it isn't. Sadly, what the game does require (at least in the Japanese version) is a lot of interaction between differing versions for things such as new boss teams, events, and players.

Can that stuff be done over WiFi or local only?

Because I'm the only person who plays this game out my group of friends.

I don't ever recall Inazuma Eleven having WiFi to be honest. Even Inazuma Eleven Go for 3DS doesn't, which was stupid of Level 5.

I know the first one does but I never used it, something like downloading extra characters or maybe online matches?

I couldn't connect to it because DS games can't handle WPA!

Oh right, the DLC stuff. Yeah, I never really bothered with that because most of the online characters weren't really worth it.

I hope in this version there is actually a point to going out and recruiting players; in the first one you could pretty much play the whole game with just the starting characters and the ones you got through the story.

I pretty much played the whole game with only 2 non-story recruited characters and it really deflated my interest in the whole recruiting mini-game (which was one of the main attractions originally for me as I loved that about Blitzball).

I haven't done the extra competition stuff you unlock after finishing the game but I heard they were quite difficult so that some story characters couldn't cut it. How did you fair against them?

I liked recruiting the extra characters, it was like collecting Pokemon.

Additional characters were mostly pointless, but at some point I essentially put players in my team based on their looks, so in that sense it was still good for me to have a big roster to choose from.

Is Inazuma Eleven a good pokemon like?

Been meaning to get into this series, but I never found the time for the first one. Should I just grab the second one at this point, or is it worth playing the original?

El Capitan Todd
day one! I loved the first episode.
Still not sure about blizzard-fire...I'll decide based on cover.
I would also love to be able to play the Wii sport-arcade version...

Will (very likely) not get. I still need to finish the first one but I don't even know if I ever will. I got bored of the tedious random encounters and the amazingly stupid backtracking and quests before each important match. It's almost like I just want to play the 11 on 11 matches and move forward to find about the story.

So what are the differences between the two versions of IE2?
Off the top of my head.

Once again, I will certainly get Blizzard because Fubuki > Gouenji.

I'd say yes. The less imaginative player designs and equally good "moves" and "stats" equivalencies are made up for by the greater amount of players, team strategies, and player control.

Been meaning to get into this series, but I never found the time for the first one. Should I just grab the second one at this point, or is it worth playing the original?

2 through 4 are somewhat different from 1. You might want to play it just to see how the series evolves if you play 2 and like it.

According to the German press release, the games will be released in summer just in time for UEFA European Football Championship.

The German Nintendo page still says March 16, though: http://www.nintendo.de/NOE/de_DE/ne...irect_neuerscheinungen_und_mehr_an_49047.html

Is this a Germany-only thing or has the date been pushed back?

What the hell.

/edit/ The anime is pretty garbage in my opinion. The story and everything is cute in the game, but as far as sports anime go IE is pretty awful.

I only played a handful of those extra matches before i stopped playing. The main problem was the restrictions on selection, i.e. you could only choose fire elemental players or stuff like that so you had to have recruited a wide range of characters. I should mention that by the very end of the game i did begin to add a few of the secret players and some Royal Academy players to my team so I don't actually know if i could have beaten the game with just the original characters, but ultimately by the time i'd reached the ending of the game i had grown tired of it so recruiting all these new characters at the end was pointless, they needed to make it more important during the story.

is this a little more deep than the first one?i loved the concept (remember me of the captain tsubasa game for SNES...the fifth one i presume),but the game has absolutely no depth, all the specials are either shots or tackles (or goalkeepin' for GKs),the CPU cheats and there's no real difference between much of the specials....

As opposed to what? Sports anime and/or manga that try to be realistic? I actually can't stand those. In fact, I demand neglect of physics and reality for me to even possibly enjoy them. That's why I hate stuff like Knights of the Area and love IE and Captain Tsubasa.
