Since they don't have a developer or even a concept, game is probably at least 3 years out so it's a safe bet it is for next gen.

Man, this industry sometimes. Hard to tell if they're joking or not some days. 'Triple A' was already the stupidest thing I've hever heard, but it just wasn't stupid enough. I'm kind of curious what just a plain 'ol Double A game is.
AAA is an acronmy and it's not tied, nor is it established by the games industry.
Finance, several other industries, measuring and whatnot use it.
Yes, because we know that this is the only project being published by MS for the next console.

I'm painfully aware of all that, it's what makes it so goofy. A game isn't a prime mortgage bundle. It also implies that money = quality(similarly, calling a game 'AAAA' is basically saying "we're spending an even more ridiculous amount of money, therefore it's going to be even better").

I think people are mocking it because it's not that hard to imagine someone marketing a game as being AAAA, especially considering the types of games that are usually at the top of the sales charts.
