On the Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere II PV,

Tes. Nice to see Tori back as well as hearing Terminated once more. Though I didnt see Noriki, or Neshinbara, but nice for Slicing Dragonfly and both Honda's.

Hey guys, just wanted to ask:

RE: Anohana getting licensed - are NISA still doing that really annoying thing where they only give their releases to Rightstuf and themselves? Importing to the UK is a real pain if PlanetAxel/Amazon don't get them.

I can see NISA titles on Amazon.com, but they're priced at MSRP. Doesn't look like they show up until the exact release date, though.

e: On closer look, they're all through third-party sellers but "fulfilled by Amazon", so I guess there's no guarantee it'll show up. Kimi ni Todoke Vol. 2 releases in ten days, so whatever happens with it should be a good predictor of how soon, if at all, Anohana will show up after its release.

Time for a heads up. Starting tomorrow, there's going to be a crazy first week of spring anime. Here's the lineup for the next 7 days:

April 1 - Saint Seiya Omega, Space Bros, Hiiro no Kakera

April 2 - Gon, Kimi to Boku 2, Zetman

April 3 - Queens Blade Rebellion, Rock Lee

April 4 - Kore wa Zombie desu ka? OF THE DEAD, Lupin the Third ~Fujiko 0wnz J00~, Medaka Box

April 5 - Recorder to Randoseru Season 2, Sengoku Collection, Sankarea, Natsuiro Kiseki

April 6 - Accel World

April 7 - Upotte, Fate/Zero 2nd Season, Mysterious Girlfriend X, Kuroko's Basketball

For the first time in a long while (years!) I think I might watch the first episodes of the majority of those. I don't think I've done this since 2004 or so.

The Light of El Cantare
Nothing is too weird. Nothing is too magical.

I think I've found a new mantra.

The funniez:
  • People complaining about the cloth designs in Saint Seiya Omega should look at all the popped-collar trenchcoats in Kenshin; Nobuhiro Watsuki's fashion sense was very anachronistic. The nineties?

This is one of my favorite things about Kenshin visually. I'm not even kidding.

Your Shin Kyoto-hen impressions are the least-negative I've heard yet. I'm going to watch it today and hope that the fact that it's been a really really long time since I watched RK will help me overlook any dumb plot changes.

Bodacious Space Pirates 5

FINALLY

Even if you hadn't specified the episode number, I still would have known which episode you'd just watched.

B-but, CG is the future of anime, see?

I don't think that PA Works got the message that just because your anime takes place in 1998, it doesn't mean that you should use 1998 CG.

Awwwww, look how sad they're suffering :(
And holy crap, Arsene has lost it!

The way Sherlock bleeds flowers is adorable.
Haha, poor Nero is on that
bum status!

Had to get this pose, preppin' for battle like a beast

Bah, wished they'd showed at least a bit of Genius 4's battle. Eyecatch transition to aftermath's a bit of a cop-out.

Sherlock's speech was nice, but I could barely take it seriously when she's deformed for 90% of it. Useful Gift from Sonia at last second?....*facepalm* I'll go with it. lol @ the wedding plate.

Yay. Everyone got their powers back in a bang of glory!

Dat ending...shit gone real.

Hyouga was the best caballero muthafuckas. This eagle lady better be as cool as him (see what i did thar?)

Where's 7th's fucking thread anyway?

I don't like posting threads before the episode actually airs in Japan. As soon as that shit gets on Crunchyroll, I'm pressing the "Submit Thread" button. :V

I just think it's funny to hear them do the fake ethnic accents. Strangely China-girl doesn't really have one that I noticed.

The English version of the tsundere is really placid though. I guess it really just doesn't work in English.

I'd like to say this is just not true, but it's unsurprising that the Infinite Stratos dub is rather lacklustre.

In advance of the DVD release, The Anime Network is streaming the first episode of Infinite Stratos dubbed. Don't know if there are any regional restrictions in place.

I'm not sure how Brittney Karbowski got another role voicing a British character. She's a good voice actress when she's not doing an accent but her voice is so distinctive, and distinctively American at that. It also doesn't help that she was obviously voicing the side/extra/crowd characters. Most of the other voices in the dub sound fine if they're American accents.

Milky Holmes 12 (End)

Ha!
Beautiful Me summon just had to happen before this ended.

I can't help, but moan when
Arsene
moans...it's contagious!

Dayumn, this battle! I'm being selfish, but I wish there were action like this for every other episode!
Lack of powers be damned!

Gaa--! Boobs killed the tension! Damn you soft breeeeeeeasts!

Hehe, there's some fun stuff in the scuffle
when you pause at each frame of it.

Okay, so now....NOOOW?!

They forget who Arsene is and lose their powers immediately again, of course.
*double facepalmtacular*

Ah well, a fitting ending, I suppose. Overall, I found this pretty entertaining. The color palette was...colorful. Three Card are the best goons I've seen in a bit and the humor, while flat at times, was enjoyable more often than not.

I'll be putting Season 2 on my list as I'm looking forward to more light-hearted suffering from this gang of silliness. I'll probably watch it after something more serious though, I've been thinking of getting on Stein's; Gate...

After Credits:
MORI ARTY LOLOLOLOLOL

Kaiba 2

This show's manner of storytelling continues to impress me. When there's a concept it feels the audience needs to be clear on, it has a character point out and explain it, such as with the memory eggs. Otherwise, it lets the world speak for itself. We can figure out
that Kaiba's body has been hijacked for the woman to use for self-pleasure through her addressing it as "myself," through the out-of-character actions of that body, and through the fractured visual presentation of the sex scene. Kaiba's personality is identified as being in the dinosaur body through the locket. It is significant that his soul is bound up in the picture of another character, as he still has little definition as his own entity. He remains a plaything for others - first the woman who discards him, and then for the majority of this episode through the small flying creature by his side. This could be seen as a statement about what defines us as people: without our memories, would we have any personality to speak of?

As someone interested in mind/body philosophy, I'm pleased by the thoughtful and visually evocative manner in which this show treats its concepts. What stuck out to me most was the issue of original vs. copy.
When the copy succeeds in blowing up the original through over-stimulation, the green residue left throughout the room and on its body makes it look like a violent monster has just finished a bloody massacre. It's a vivid presentation of the danger inherent in creating a copy of a personality: kept in a separate body, it takes on a life of its own that seeks to supplant the threatening original.

The cartoony elements, present in both the exaggerated, goofy side of the visuals and the sound effects, are charming and help make the show easier to watch at points where it approaches the disturbing. Integrating it into the overall style makes the moments of humor more natural than in Kemonozume, where the monkey stood out like a sore thumb.

Ahaha, the return of Mujin Gattai Kisaragi. That was a fantastic highlight from the iM@S anime.
The Fate/zero one is parodying Densha Otoko, right?
