Great brownie, or the greatest brownie?

I love when people overreact to a combination of foods, thinking it's somehow more unhealthy when in all likelihood they would be perfectly willing to eat each part individually.

They are also reacting to the large volume of food.

it also suggests an attitude toward food--a dietary continuum, if you follow--that is excessive in a parodic, ironic way, reactionary snaps to notions of good health and good taste. of course if you sit down and eat one of these, you won't die. putting these three already individually indulgent foods together suggests a degree of acclimation in food habits, i.e., a brownie by itself is no longer good enough, a chocolate chip cookie isn't good enough, an oreo isn't good enough (likely a result of overindulgence on these items individually), and only by upping the proverbial ante can that feeling of indulgence be acquired.

so yes, duh, eating one of these is not going to kill you or make you a fatass, but the general attitude toward food suggested by them is very not good.

Made some up last night, actually. :D

The oreos are kind of easy to miss... You can see them, but they're so soft from absorbing the... Whatever they absorb... and the brownie and cookie over power it. Maybe if one were to use double stuff oreos... :O Also I didn't have a problem with the cookie and brownie having different baking times. Both came out right, but it may have been the mixes I used.

It's a Gateway Food

Some foods are like gateway drugs,"... "From your brain's viewpoint, there is no difference." These so-called gateway foods make you feel out of control, maybe even physically unable to stop reaching for more, in part because of their addictive effect on your mind and body, according to research.

That sounds disturbingly similar to this.

the two of you ate the whole thing? That's like a bazillion calories. I'd love to make it but I will only; on a cheat day - not anytime soon though

too bad oreos are disgusting
I assume they just melt into the brownie.

Opens can of worms - Would anyone eat one raw?
I think I might use the bowl leftovers for a virgin slutty brownie.
Oreo with chocochip cookie dough drizzled in brownie batter.

I just showed this to my mom and she told me that she'll make a slutty brownie cake for my birthday next month. Everything went better than expected.

I can't imagine the prosecution that the guy who decided to put cookies and chocolate chips together faced in his day.

The entire history of cooking is just people combining different things that taste good together. You're being silly, trying to extrapolate some deep, horrifying cultural implications where there probably aren't any.

As far as the volume comment, I'm pretty sure you have the ability to choose how large of a brownie you eat. It doesn't have the be the volume of a whole chocolate chip cookie plus a whole Oreo plus a whole brownie. It can just be a combination of the three, but still the size of a regular brownie. That's not so hard to imagine is it?

Came for the "slutty", stayed for the Diddely.

It's my birthday this month and I'm doing the same thing. Forget the boring birthday cake that everyone just eats a slice of to be courteous. This and a scoop of ice cream is where it's at for me this year.

She's thin, so she must not eat, right? This shit gets old.

She probably take the Giada De Laurentiis approach, and only eats her own stuff in moderation. I'd expect a regular slutty brownie connoisseur to look like this:

i.e. Pregnant. But only because Tori Spelling told the press that we shouldn't make fun of her weight anymore :(.

Making these right now. Holy shit that was a tooooon of sugar. And creaming by hand is a pain in the ass, my arm is so tired.

Only had an 8x8, but even if I had a 9x9 there would have been way too much cookie dough and just enough Brownie batter.

Will take pics when finished if they turn out not crap. Wish I wasn't on a diet :( just looking at the batter bowl is making me drool.

My friend Beth decided to make one for Easter, and we decided to spruce it up with chocolate frosting and Cadbury Mini Eggs and a cracked Creme Egg. It was godly:

God tier.

Yeah, post some pictures. Forget the diet, you only live once!

Well that was a massive failure. Cookie layer is nowhere near done in the middle, but the Brownie stuff looks done. Letting my second loaf cool down more hoping it had a thinner layer of cookie as to make it done and not runny in the middle.

Again, way too much cookie in the recipe they provide.

edit: The second pan turned out much better. This was just a test run to really see how the recipe works if I ever want to make these again, but now that I've seen how the square pan brownies came out I'm feeling much better about it. So in conclusion, don't use a loaf pan filled with whatever remaining batter you have because the cookie layer won't cook. The square pan with a thin layer of cookie worked great, I just over cooked it trying to judge how done they were by the loaf pan instead of by the square pan :(

$11 and found everything at the London Metro

LOL in Canada it comes with extra icing and extra cookies

Made a virgin slut - uncooked brownie batter, Doublestuff Oreo, uncooked CCCD

Turn out great. Soft and sweet even without the icing - washed down with a bag of milk.
Washing is easy too. Hot water melts away the sugar. Can't eat more than one with out getting the jitters.d

Prep time: 15 min, while preheating
Cook time: 30 min, washed while waiting
Cost $12 - Prolly last me 2 weeks.

Nice, and cheap. I will be making these over the weekend. I'm going with double stuff oreos. Then heading straight to the hospital.

One good thing about moving back in with your parents is having a mom around who can bake things. After seeing this thread I showed her the recipe. Here's the result:

So, so good. You only need 1 piece of it because it's so rich.
