The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Just started watching some gameplay videos....

So am I the only one who thinks it's odd that the character never has any incentive to actually use their equipped weapon? Seems like there's always a special move/ability that trumps actually swinging whatever it is you have equipped (although I realize that your equipped weapon affects said abilities).

I just think using a single ability over and over again as your main attack would get visually, and audibly, boring - or even annoying.

Now, I haven't played yet, but I'm thinking I may just keep my left-click set to standard attack - as inefficient as that may be. At least then I can swing my weapon at low-level mobs for some variety.

Well, virtually ever damaging ability's damage is based off of the damage of your equipped weapon. So even if you aren't actually swatting away, it still matters. I guess I just don' have a problem with the withdoctor or wizard never having to run up and stab something, and the other 3 classes all use attacks/animations that are close enough to actually using their weapons (barb cleave, DH bolas, most monk stuff)

good luck finding the standard attack to bind to your left mouse.

Well, since the left-click abilities are typically needed to actually generate your resource for everything else, I'd imagine not using them would be a bigger problem in the long-run. And can you actually bind it anyway?

That said, Monk, Barb, and DH all use their weapons at least a bit visually.

hey guys, I have the dob3 installer and I'm waiting for midnight come monday... I've been waiting for this for years

however, I never played dob1/2 .. I was too busy with counter-strike when those released, and when I wanted to get into them I couldn't get past the resolution / how horrid it looks

so is there anyway I can catch up on the story without reading the novels? :)

any help would be awesome! :D

IGN has a good Diablo in 5 minutes video. Nothing super extensive, but quick and to the point so you don't go in totally cold turkey.

Yeah, I suppose that's a good point.

And can you actually bind it anyway?

I don't know. I just watched a video where a guy bound standard attack to the left-click....

But it was a video of the Wizard, and he was normally using spectral blades (?) as his base attack. And I was thinking, as cool as that animation is, if I had to watch it 2000 times a day I'd probably go mad.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Better be a 7+ hour sleep. None of this 1.5 hour monkey crap. I need you in tip top shape these next days in the thread.

Nighty night. ;D
I am baaaaaaack!

This is the most sleep I've ever gotten since we got the OT :3 I got a solid 4 hours, now I'm refreshed as fuck and ready to go!

WE ARE SO CLOSE HOLY MOTHER OF GOD.

The way I view it, you use the left-click to afford your other things!

Honestly, I'd imagine watching your regular attack swings would be just as, if not more, boring.

But, but... you can rune it and change the colors! Yeah, that particular animation (spectral blade) is a bit obnoxious.

Glad you missed the NeoGAF downtime!
What? When? For how long long was it down :_:?!
Don't get me wrong, I am more excited for this game than Yoshi, I just miss Runewords and more lewts :(
I'm not gonna get started. Let's just say that my answer for the bolded part is "no".

Pots of coffee will be sustaining me through launch week(end).

heh, in my college days I only slept for 6 hours everyday and I got some bad crow's feet from it, which is why I always wear glasses :lol

On that note, I broke my glasses not long ago and still waiting for my replacements :| Need to do LASIK eventually. </random>

I dunno, I mean other than WoW, blizzard has never released more than one Xpac for a game (I know SC2 is supposed to have 2, but it hasn't technically happened yet), and MMO's pretty much demand the content infusions of Xpacs to stay alive so it's kind of an outlier in that regard anyway.

To answer the other question though, D3 Xpac(s) would almost be guaranteed to contain new classes. No level cap increase according to all recent official quotes.

We'll see...there's no way to know yet. I really think we are going to see a different Blizzard from this point forward as far as expansion packs go, particularly if the two planned for SCII and DIII go well. SCII probably can't safely be expanded beyond what they already have planned, but if they aren't expanding the level cap, they have an infinitely expandable system with Diablo. They aren't going to leave money on the table...the old Blizzard may have, but not this Blizzard. RMAH transaction fees may as well be subscription fees as far as profits are concerned; if that is a hit they are going to want people to keep plunking down cash there, and a drip-feed of new content is the only way to do that.

...which I'm totally okay with, of course. It's better than no new Diablo for 10+ years.

seriously. he's gonna wear himself out before the game even releases.

Be thankful he got 4 hours. That's a step up from the 1.5 he previously got. If he plays it right he can bump it up to a solid 5-7 for the remaining days so he isn't a zombie.

Back when I was a basement dwelling troll at my folks place though, my schedule was ridiculous gaming related wise. 16+ hours awake, then 10-12 of sleep.

I wish I had those days now when D3 is around. :(

The mouse talk a couple pages back had me checking G700 prices again. It's jumped $20 or so on Amazon since I last checked. Definitely not worth getting now. If it drops back down to the around the $70 mark, I'll jump on it though.

Should've bought it for cheap when I had the chance a couple weeks ago.

Valeriana, Yoshi. Introduce yourself to that substance. Drink it. DO IT.
Valeria... let me try that again, Valiona? Sorry, I don't drink WoW-bosses!

So my limited edition strategy guide came in just now. Love the quality of everything Blizzard. Think I'm gonna wait and open it when my game arrives. I'm not doing a midnight anything for this so I probably wont be playing D3 till around Tuesday afternoon.

Hmm, with elective mode on, drag skill from left mouse and release it in the field. Normal attack is left there and you can swing away or shoot your bow or whatever.

edit: you are only going to have 5 other skills at that point though.

what are you using now then?

I was thinking about the 700 as well but then i said fuck it, still rockin my MX518 like a boss and it'll be good enough for D3 as well!

My mind auto-corrected it to Valyrian ... :|
Ah, what a fine choice of material! I will indeed honor you by forging two of my axes with valyrian steel (fuck swords)!
