Please explain this concept. I recall seeing people playing dob2 and teleporting about crazily.....

What the hell was that

And you'll be able to do it in 3?
Essentially one of the better ways to farm items in Diablo II was to repeatedly kill Mephisto, the A3 boss. Sorc (or another class with Enigma which is an item that was introduced in patch 1.10 and granted anyone the teleport ability) was the best class to do this with as you could just teleport directly to the boss, kill it, rinse and repeat.

Mephisto was located in Durance of Hate level 3. DoH level 2 had a waypoint (meaning once you've activated it you can go directly there at any point (there was always a waypoint in town, and whenever you created a new game you started in town). So people would just take that waypoint and teleport around until they found the entrance to level 3...which could take some time because they made DoH level 2 pretty huge with patch 1.10.

So basically the people you see teleporting around are probably just doing MF runs (basically the term for farming in d2) and skipping everything in the way in favour of the boss since in Diablo you can just endlessly repeat a boss by creating new games.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Allow me to rephrase the question

How the hell were people able to teleport in dob2? A skill was it?

And will there be any of that craziness in dob3
There is a skill that the sorceress could spend points into, called "Teleport" - which allowed you to teleport wherever you had the mouse cursor. Then this piece of runeword-loot appeared, which allowed everyone to use this skill.

The teleport in Diablo 3 is exclusive to the Wizard, and it has a big cooldown so you won't be seeing the crazy amount of teleportation as the ones you saw in D2.

Oh and MF means magic find. The higher magic find you have, the bigger odds of getting better loot from the loot tables.
I wonder did this thread fall to 2nd page since its conception?
No.

Dash is my new favorite "get around" skill in D3

But wouldn't the Wormhole rune allows you to do just that? Or is it that the "proc" only occurs on the first teleport?

Sorceress had the Teleport skill. There was later a Runeword you could add to Armor that allowed for Teleporting.

Diablo 3 Wizard has Teleport but on a cooldown; D2's one was spammable endlessly.

I thought there was a rune you could put on tele for D3 that made it similar until you stopped casting it?

ENIGMAAAAAA

I thought of that as-well but I am almost certain it doesn't work the way we want it to be :lol

You could keep it going for a while with wormhole. Depending on how good regen you have. And if there isn't any restrictions on wormhole that they haven't said as of yet.

I'd imagine they'll add an enigma like item in if it comes to a point where wizard is the definitive class for MF/rushing.

I was under the assumption Wormhole was a 1s cooldown delay for the first Teleport, not infinite. Maybe not?

Edit: Guess I was wrong!

Man all this D2 talk is making me want to play it all over again..

But I don't have my regular computer with me so I can't play it ;_;

Todays Blizzard will never put Enigma in Diablo 3. Blizzard doesn't want D3 to go through the same mistakes as D2 (they've said that they regret letting every class use teleport).

My set up for D3 sucks balls.

It's a ghetto ass chair in front of my 32 inch HDTV, and I have to put a pillow on my lap for th keyboard and mouse to rest on.

They regret Runic Games formerly known as Blizzard North made that bad decision. All I see from the current dev team is awesome cheeseball with chocolate cake.

Let's just say Teleport with Wormhole allows you to teleport until your arcane power is out. The cost of Teleport is 15 arcane power, so you'll be able to use it 6 times before you run out. Include arcane power regen and you've got 7 (max 8) total teleports. And once you've done that, you have to wait 16 seconds. It'll never be like Diablo 2, never, ever.

Psh. 105fcr and I'm doing 3 a second.

Video or fake! lolol I refuse to believe.

Good summary. Also, if you don't keep casting every 1 sec you'll hit the cooldown hump.

And then you'll be stuck dying when you wait for the 16-second long cooldown :3

Yeah. Which is good and bad. More good.

At least now people will have to do more than wait in town for a tp and stand in the corner of baals room. I always felt bad for the tele-bitches.

And it makes rolling a DH a much easier decision.

I consider it to be a great thing! Now don't get me wrong, I am the teleport God in D2 but I really don't want D3 to become a 'port-fest - and it won't. I'm glad you can't increase the max amount of arcane power (well, I guess you can increase it to 110, but that's it) :3

It's an amazing thing, they basically kept all the combat use of teleport (and added even more via different runes!) and removed the lame aspect of it.

All this talk about teleporting and I've finally come to the realization that teleporting to Mephisto, sitting on the moat and dropping meteors/blizzards, taking the portal to a4, selling my items, then making a new game and repeating 500 times....well that's probably the most tedious thing that I've ever had so much fun doing.

As soon as everyone can teleport the whole balancing and everything they have strived to do goes out the window.

I don't see class teleporting a possibility now, or much later.

Give it a decade though.

Absolutely! For PvP, I personally prefer Reversal:

It doesn't force me to use teleport "in bursts", and the cooldown starts ticking down as soon as I've used the first initial teleport. If you do it right, you'll have a teleport ready at least once every 8 seconds. That is imo a huge advantage in PvP.

It does have insane regen. It is interesting to see how different it will get used compared to mana at higher levels. It seems that you can dump it all in a panic and have it all back after a short time. It's almost like a cooldown that gets compounded by what skills you use in unison. Because using bigger spells means you will get forced to use lesser ones you make use of those last slivers of arcane power. Mana on the other hand requires long term conservation but you don't have to wait after ever few dumps of spells for regen.
