I mostly just rewatch season 1, season 2 was really hit and miss, and the 3rd was really weak imo. Still looking forward to watching though.

I loved Season 3. Season 2 was the only one I was iffy on.

I'm just wondering if we'll be seeing Caesar finally. Also how far off we are from a trailer.

Technically it's been known we'd be getting a 4th season since well over a year ago, just that Adult Swim didn't comment on it before now. I really hope Aaron was writing scripts that entire time. Hell Regina was doing an interview back in March where she talked a bit about it coming back for a 4th season and how Aaron has the plot set for a movie.

Do we have a date?

No.

I thought McGruder hated working on the show so much that he vowed never to do it again? is he still executive producer?

Although season 3 was shit relative to the glorious first 2 seasons, I have faith they can right the ship. My top 5 episodes off the top of my head:

1. Catcher Freeman

2. 2nd Stinkmeaner Episode

3. Let's Kidnap Oprah

4. First Thugnificent episode

5. Barack Obama episode

Where'd you see this?

Technically there's no official word that he's still executive producer, but he was John Witherspoon's source on telling him back in spring 2011 that the show will be back, and Regina King said she was keeping in contact with McGruder for the new season and that he was writing the movie in March 2012. So yeah he's still in charge.

I do remember him saying on his Twitter that Boondocks wasn't ending due to Sony, but because of him, and that he promises to explain never. Needless to say he never did and there wasn't a trace of him on the Season 3 DVD. I remember being kind of pissed off about that. I also remember he wrote every episode of Season 3 by himself except for 1 or 2 with Rodney Barnes.

Fucking fantastic! Thought S3 was it, so this is definitely a nice surprise. Just hope it keeps up the stellar quality from past seasons.

...this is happening. I thought the 3rd season was the last. It was even advertised as so, wasn't it.

Unofficially, yes. Aaron McGruder noted on Twitter soon after the trailer came out for Season 3 that Sony was telling him NOT to call it the final season. It was getting increasingly obvious that everybody EXCEPT for him wanted it to continue at that point.

And DY_nasty the only good thing about Ballin' was Cindy and Riley's dream, I hated everything else

Hey, people have different viewpoints. I'm honestly surprised to see someone that thought Season 2 was even remotely good.

The show dipped in quality during Season 3.

Wish they'd have more original plots for season 4 and not ones that rely on pop culture events.

Completely agree.

Actually, my relationship with The Boondocks is really weird. Usually, I'll either really love a Boondocks episode, or become very bored by it.

Season 1 had many episodes I really loved (R. Kelly, Health Inspector, Gangstalicious, The Itis, Cristal like the Champagne, and others).
Season 2 has less (Thugnificent, Gangstalicious II, Soul Plane).
Season 3 had only one or two (Thugnificent II).

Either way, I still reatly look forward to the fourth.

So the earliest we can expect this is probably late next year right? Anyway, still hype and happy to have the show back.

PLEASE have Caesar at long last. Huey just isn't in top form without Caesar. It's what made a lot of the comic strip the comedy gold it was!
