Namco Bandai Has A "Surprise" For Tales of Fans In The West [Up: Japan Expo]

Who's DTL? Also, really? I didn't know that.... I guess I'll stop loling then....

Dedication Through Light. Specifically, he was warned about his persistent 'lol'ing but continued anyways, and was given a 6-month(?) ban for that.

Anyways, with this much teasing, I would think this has to be a game localization announcement, but doing that before Graces F releases perhaps isn't the best idea.

But trying to understand Namco is probably a waste of effort.

Oh, well. I lol usually because it's like how I end my sentences. A few months back it was rofl. I don't know when I switched. lol. Anyway, I do agree that announcing something before Graces is a bad idea. *sigh*

If it is a localization announcement, I wonder how long it would be until release.

Graces F was over a year from announcement to store shelves.

It would most likely be a year from announcement. My bet is that it would be next year August.

Given that Vesperia was the 10th Anniversary game in North America and that was released in 2008, it wouldn't be surprising if Xillia were released sometime 2013 to coincide with the series' NA 15th anniversary (that is, if this is a localization announcement). It would be consistent with Xillia being the 15th anniversary game in Japan.

I can't imagine there being much overlap between the audiences for Mass Effect and Tales.

I think audiences don't really matter in this case. I think there was a chance that sales were eaten up. Both are RPGs and honestly ME3 easily overshadowed anything released that month.

for principle i want to argue back ... but i can't ...

Maybe it would have performed better in may ?or january ?

Well, I wasn't being serious in entirety. Anyway, I think it would've done best had it come around summer when there is absolutely NO RPGs to play. So yeah.

EDIT: Actually... we just got Dawnguard. Hell... NB screwed either way.

Well it depends, is there any big RPG release happening in 2013 for Xillia to release next to?

Not January b/c of Final Fantasy. Maybe it should have released further into the summer months, but I dunno.

Versus XIII beeeeliiieeevveee

*cries*

The lack of Vita enthusiasm in this thread makes me sad

I really hope SCEA isn't forcing some bullshit like you can't just subtitle games. They need to set publishing requirements low to make sure what few Vita games Japan produces come out elsewhere

Lol. I'll make an avatar bet that Versus XIII will come 2014 at the earliest for the US.

Uh... the lack of Vita enthusiasm on GAF dude. Not just this thread.

I don't even have that kind of optimism.

Good man. Or woman. Sorry.

It does get annoying and can give a wrong impression of you.

I'm disapointed

i have a WII JPN grace copy
and a PS3 US Graces F copy

I DID MY PART

Seriously ...63k is ...way too low ..i don't understand ...

I bought 2 copies of Graces ƒ, 3 of Vesperia (I gifted one) and 3 of Abyss 3DS (also gifted one).

Sorry... If it's at the end of a sentence or in its own segment then its usually out of habit.

That's a lot of money....

I bought the US releases of Vesperia, Graces F, and Abyss 3D, so I did my part as well. I still have to get Symphonia 2, though.

Lack of Vita enthusiasm. Period. :(

lol~ Man. Damn the Leah avatar, I suppose.

Well, I was trying to put it into the perspective of our ecosystem. ^_^

K, you are now a guy in my head now. Unless I forget. lol

Realistically, what are the odds of this being an Innocence R localization as opposed to a Xillia localization?

I'm betting that it's Innocence R or a combination with Xillia. I think I'm in the minority though...

Namco's releasing Ni no Kuni then and Xillia would probably eat the already likely small sales for that.

Makes perfect sense for Namco.

I'm too lazy to search the entire thread so I'm goign to say best post this page.

I'd really like to see an HD remake of Tales of Symphonia for the Vita. I doubt it will happen but I'll keep my fingers crossed!

In Innocence's defense, I think Abyss was much more popular than Innocence.

Oh I agree, but after seeing those sales, if you were a Namco exec, would you want to risk another remake on Vita?

Heck, I'd think, if anything, original titles for both 3DS and Vita would be in the works next, as opposed to remakes.

Vita's just not doing well and it's not helping. I'd really like a Hearts remake for the Vita but it's not going to happen probably.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
It's even worse when you realize that Tales of the Abyss 3D did 74,173 in it's first week, and that was a relatively lazy port.

You have to take into perspective that ToI wasn't exactly a fan favorite and had decent sales (around 200k on the NDS) whereas TotA was one of the top and liked games and garnered over 500k+ sales.

I just browsed quickly on the Tales MC LTDs, not sure if they're accurate.

Btw, how did Mpl90 get that title? :p

I think the 3DS will be the future home of portable Tales
That we'll never get to play in English

Whoops, my bad.

Did Tales of the Abyss 3DS get decent marketing?
Hahahahahahahahaha

I bet the situation was the same in the US as in EU: few copies available so prices on the internet skyrocketed for new copies around the 60 pounds mark. There was a reprint some time ago, but it was still a limited run. ToA still remains a somewhat rare game in the 3DS library and it's still one of the more expensive games.

I just hate how Namco-Bandai just kicks this fun franchise in the nuts time after time in the west.

Look, last time we revisited Symphonia we got Emil. You really want to try this again, even on a remake?
