Did Obama ever say 'Guilty as charged'?
Gonna go to McDonald's this weekend to see if I can do some mods to their Southern Chicken sandwich to make it a good Chick Fil-A replacement. Honestly I think all it might need is some mayo...
The only mod I've tried is the one where you put the chicken sandwich in the middle of a double cheeseburger (serious). It;s called the McGangBang.
Apple & Nike: exploiting labors in third world countries = ALRIGHT COOL.
CFA: we don't support gay marriage = HATE FILLED ASSHOLES!!! BOYCOTT!!!
lol @ America

sounds like shit
And did he go on to contribute millions of dollars to anti-gay causes?
Kosmo has entered the thread to blast Obama?
Why did it take so long?

You really need to define "anti-gay." Most of those groups just fall into kind of kooky Christian fundamentalist organizations what support a "traditional" definition of marriage. If there are any that are promoting "gay therapy" or trying to turn people straight, sure I would call that anti-gay. Regardless, the shitstorm blew up before their donations were even looked into.
You can say there is "nuance" between the two statements, but they are saying the same thing - stating that marriage is defined as that between a man and a woman.
Personally, I'm both for gay marriage and eating good chicken sandwiches.
This thread made me look up the biblical definition of marriage, and King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. I don't know how he got anything done.
Tell me, how deep is that hole you're digging? It must be pretty deep already, to have missed the massive outcries against Apple and Nike for shoddy labor practices.
So basically you'd rather argue semantics than try and realize the obvious point I was making? You really need to define "anti-gay." To take away Dan Cathy's first amendment rights is to take away your own. Don't you see that? Even the ACLU is on Chick-fil-a's side which is kind of odd.
King Solomon is not the biblical definition of marriage.... he's just a guy in the Bible. Nobody says "DO WHAT THIS GUYS DOES!"
Bible typically looks at the first marriage as Adam and Eve, it's not about a "ceremony" and exchanging of vows. But a commitment between Man, Woman, and God. Seeing how they are seen as the "first" man and woman, they're typically seen as the very first marriage... and their offsprings are said to have taken "wives". Meaning they were married as well.
I don't think there's a particular passage in the Bible that defines marriage as being this ceremony where you light candles, exchange rings, etc. I could be wrong, but I don't know if there's a single wedding ceremony outlined in the Bible.
Hmm I must've missed that huge CNN report about how people are just super fucking pissed. In America, gay marriage is a bigger issue than third world countries being abused by our major coporations.
Good thing no one is suggesting taking away his First Amendment rights.

So how do you defend Rahm Emmanuel on his stance?

How much do those workers care about gay marriage in the US?
Holy bad argument Batman. I think you should sit a few plays out, take a breather.
So isn't that something we should be trying to correct? Supporting companies that donate to lobbyists and hate groups that want to limit gay people their equal rights doesn't sit well with me.
Look, they donated over a million dollars to a group that has this on their homepage.
Bigoted nutjobs.

Are you talking about Obama modifying his views or all of the "outraged" people modifying what their response is to someone who states they think marriage is between a man and a woman? That their is more outrage about a guy that makes chicken sandwiches having that view than the guy sitting in the White house is hilarious to watch.
I'm all for gay marriage, FYI.

Infinite clowns, but only one clown car.
Mercury Fred said:Scummy post.
Many of us were rightfully outraged about Obama and very, very vocal about it. I was one of those people and I'm grateful that he's publicly changed positions.
How would you define this?

I guess I missed that thread. And it's not that I think Obama was really against gay marriage other than for selfish, political reasons, which made it all the more scummy.
Generally, I still have a problem with somebody saying they dont support same sex marriages, but its not something to get outraged over on its own.Ok, so you you had no problem with the original statement from the COO and your only opposition that they donate to "anti-gay" groups? I want to make sure we are on the same page.
If that's the case, my bad. If you had a problem with the original statement, then please proceed with why you didn't have problem with Obama's stance, or at least weren't motivated to express outrage.
Are you f'ing kidding me? That thread? It was in many, many threads over the course of years here. I was very outspoken about being critical of Obama's stance as were many others. But this isn't about him.
Sorry, you're not on my radar! Honestly, if you have a link to a good thread, I'd love to browse through.
Wouldn't be an issue of they were homosexual, however:

His rights won't be violated. First, they're not going to be allowed to do what Menino's letter suggested, even he's backed off from that since then. Second, holding boycotts and such are a CITIZEN'S right. And that is as it should be.
How would you define this?
It must suck to be the franchise owners in these cases. If these new restaurants fail because of the storm of bad publicity and boycotts, they have a lot more to lose than Chick-fil-A corporate does. I imagine they wish the CEO had kept his idiot mouth shut.

Where would the gay community be without Kosmo to advocate for them in a manner that is in no way just a pretext for knee-jerk partisan hackery!
Kosmo, staunch ally of gays everywhere.
The people who wrote that are horrible. The people who support that are horrible. And if you try to defend that in this thread then you are being horrible too.
So stop!
How did you folks let Kosmo warp this thread into one about the integrity of Obama's gay marriage stance?
It was better when you were lumping all of CFA's customers who were aware of the company's stance in with radical, homophobic bigots.
I was not making an indictment on Obama's stance in any way. The indictment was on those who had no problem with Obama's stance but are now all "DERP Well, I don't eat your fried chicken sandwich anymore!"
Staunch supporter of not giving a shit about what people do in their personal lives.
