Custom Steam icons for Grid View

Can anyone do anything for Shadow Era or Battle for Wesnoth? Both free games I have added but my work with google images and MS Paint leaves a lot to be desired...

You guys are awesome. :) I've decided to start remaking SNES covers as Steam grid icons. Due the general size difference, some need to be slightly modified. I am, however, trying to stay as close to the originals as possible.

Here are the first three I've done.

Stay tuned for more or just watch my gallery. I'll probably update it more often than this thread. http://imgur.com/a/pXyQr

Anyone make a non-beta Guild Wars 2 icon?

Oh and Sims 3? The one I bought isn't Steam so...

btw does this mean when the shortcuts are lost (for some odd reason) they'll lose the icons again?

How exactly do you have the emulators boot straight into the game? I see custom icons for Super Mario World, Smash Bros, etc, but I always thought you had to boot them through the emulator first.

I found the information that will help getting them on Steam with the overlay. I'll post it in a few when I get to my computer.

Edit: What I found was for the Wii emulator.

Wii/GCN games on Steam WITH Overlay

First thing you have to do is add the Dolphin emulator to the Steam library as a Non-Steam game.

Next you go into the properties of the emulator through Steam. Just right click it in the Steam menu then click on "Properties"

Where it says Target change it to something similar to this:

"E:\Dolphin\Dolphin.exe" /e "F:\Gamecube\Double Dash.iso" /b

The first part is the location of the application for your emulator. The /e lets the emulator know to run this .iso when it starts. The second file location is the .iso you want the emulator to run and the /b closes the emulator when you exit the game.

After doing all that the game should work perfectly with Steam!

To do multiple Wii games on Steam simply make a copy of the application (not a shortcut) and repeat the process with a separate .iso

PM me if you have any questions, I am glad to help anyone out.

Edit: Here is how to do it for PCSX2: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=27581549&postcount=222

I'll look into how to do this with other emulators without .bat files.

For classic emulators

Make sure you associate said file extension to open with the emulator, then add the file to steam. Because steam only seems to accept .exe or bat files you have to add .exe to whatever you are trying to run. After it is added remove .exe from the file and .exe from the steam link and you can launch directly.

For Mame you have to make a bat file.

Make txt document

Type:

mame64.exe "NAMEOFZIPFILE"
(or whatever mame version you are using) I use mame64 because it works with steam overlay.

Save as a bat file.

While this does work I don't like working with .bat files because the overlay does not work. I just enter the command line options under the shortcut to the game in Steam. Right now I'm trying to figure out a good way for epsxe and project64 to work with the overlay.

oops, left out a step.

Download BattoExeConverter and change the file. then it will work with overlay. I did not know the command line method would work. Will try later.

Project 64 only works with the overlay when you launch the file from the emulator. It doesnt want to work when I launch the file directly

What about .sfc files (for ZSNES)? I tried changing the .sfc to .exe in the file name, but Steam won't take it.

Strange, it should still work. Are you changing the file to an actual exe file or just changing the name to .exe?

If it really is a problem, just add any program to steam and then change the target/Start in link

I'm just changing the name. I don't know how to actually change the file to an actual exe, but I'll do whatever is needed to make this work.

But even if it does work, I'll still have to close the game through the emulator, which means a keyboard/mouse, right? Is there a method to close the game automatically with a button press (ideally, a combination of a button+Home button, as Steam does with screenshots)?

Start>Control Panel>Appearance>Folder Options>Uncheck hide files extensions.

There is always ALT + F4

That worked, thanks.

As for ALT+F4, I could probably either set it up in Xpadder, or map it to my Harmony remote.

I know this is getting off topic, but if I chose the Xpadder option, is there a way to make the program close or disable itself once I open/close a game? It's kind of annoying to have the Xpadder controller presets carry to another game, forcing me to manually close it each time.

Back on topic, can anyone take this banner and apply the Yume Nikki logo (either the text or "maze version") onto it? Maybe at the bottom between the hands?
