this can still be patched.
It's like when Freeloader initially worked for GC games on Wii.
Nintendo subsequently blocked it with an update.
The question is, will Nintendo even bother? Look at how many years the Wii has been left unpatched now. It's still on firmware 4.3, which was Nintendo's last attempt at stopping Homebrew. I think, personally, they gave up. The people who made homebrew possible know how to work around any block Nintendo could realistically make, I feel. It's basically outdated OS that Nintendo won't care to touch as long as it stays within the Wii Mode.
That being said, someone needs to test if USB Loading works and if so, goodbye to my crappy dysfunctional Wii (won't recognize more than one Wiimote anymore, has trouble loading homebrew etc.)
Well, my Wii will still have some use but still... there's been some Wii games I haven't really been able to play with friends because of my issues lol.
Edit: Also, there are like three games that exploit the system they cannot fix through a firmware update as the firmware updates are only on the OS level for the Wii. I don't think they implemented game patching to the Wii's OS while they were making the Wii U so pretty much there's no way they can block the exploits from games like SSBB and Lego Indiana Jones. You could still run homebrew apps, but at best probably couldn't install HBC if they somehow managed to block it permanently.
It's probably best Nintendo focuses their resources elsewhere until this starts affecting the Wii U OS somehow.
