Megaman isn't dead, he's living off retirement. DO YOU SEE HOW MANY GAMES THE BLUE BASTARD PROFITED FROM?!

Two of my four favorite franchises didn't receive any special treatment for their anniversary: Mega Man and Samus. :(

Why Capcom...WHY?

On the other hand, Mario and Ratchet both got some pretty cool stuff.

Supposedly we're going to get some celebration stuff starting tomorrow. Remember, his anniversary is actually then.

I say supposedly because I don't have much hope that Mega Man will get anything really substantial... I expect some half-hearted portable game to be announced in either the original Mega Man style OR a completely new and uninteresting take.

Well, we are getting that Mega Man kills Street Fighter game...but that isn't even by Capcom.

We'll see if they do anything substantial.

Here's a hint Capcom: I would be ok with another compilation release of the classic Mega Man games with 9 and 10 added in the mix.

On a disc.

In physical form.

For my shelf.

Please. :(

Well, there's supposed to be a surprise at the end of SFxM, so maybe there will be some big news tomorrow, on top of them already saying there would be formal announcements tomorrow IIRC.

I hope the announcement is good.

I would love to have Capcom release something that is anywhere near as awesome as the anniversary collection Sakurai put together for Kirby's anniversary.

Sven already said some days ago in unity that a disc version of 9 and 10 it's not going to happen, so I think you can forget about a new collection. In the other hand boggles my mind that they don't want to release both games on vita/3ds and you can't play them in the wiiu pad either.

Why are they so adverse to releasing them in a physical form. I would snatch a collection of both games up in heartbeat for the 3DS.

Capcom hates me. :(

Edit: On the other hand...you are giving my Tri Ultimate...so I may forgive you...for a few days.

Was never really a "fan" of megaman when I was growing up but I was never really a fan of any franchise. I just played the games I had which where normally hand me downs from relatives.

We got a NES and a big box of games in the early 90's because I guess they upgraded to SNES or something and I was 4 or 5 at the time so I didnt care if it was the old system or anything I was just stoked I had a load of games to play.

Anyway out of the 20 or so games we got with the NES Megaman 2 was one of them and it was easily one of the most played games out of the collection next to mario 1. Countless hours were wasted playing that game. I never really knew the trick was to defeat the bosses in the right order or anything so I never really got it. I also dont think I knew you could swap weapons ether for the first few months. Never beat it but I have fond memories of it.

Then a few years ago Megaman 9 and 10 happened and I nostalgiaed pretty hard. If Capcom ever released some kind of Classic Megaman collection I would be there day 1.

Thats my Megaman story.

Happy Birthday MM. Hope you return soon.

Fuck you Capcom.

My Mega Man story could span a novel or two... He's always been a part of me and my child hood from about the first time I could play games.

That said, I'm not sure there is anything Capcom can do for me at this point. Well, they could release Legends 3, but that's never going to happen. Aside from that, I'm not sure what they
could do to regain my business. Maybe a big budget Mega Man X game. I don't think I have it in me to try and fall in love with a "new" Mega Man which is likely where they'd go... and I'm not sure I could handle all of this wait and heartbreak just to have Mega Man 11 tossed at me.

More like a funeral than a birthday. Goodbye old friend. The free after school babysitting during your second NES adventure will always be remembered.

Happy birthday, Megaman.
I don't know whether to be happy or depressed.

EDIT: Whaaat, that fanart has the 4 Guardians and Copy X, but no Omega Zero?

Should be interesting that Capcom will make the megaman 25 birthday from this week on and not on the actual year .....

http://megamanbossbattle.tumblr.com

This internet person speaks the truth

This is actually Capcom celebrating Megaman's birthday the regular way (from the birthday and on) rather than the weird japanese marketing way of celebrating it on the lead-up to the actually anniversary.

Which is probably just more evidence that this celebration will be solely from the American branch and that the Japanese branch still doesn't give a fuck about the series anymore :/

Seriously, I can't imagine how fucking awesome a modern day Mega Man game could be. Sure I'm just fine with the classic 2D pixel style and everything, hell I think Mega Man 9 is one of the best games of the generation with excellent level design, gameplay, and music.

I just have no idea why the IP is being as ignored as it is. Yes we got the two throwback games and that was just awesome, but Mega Man is being ignored in comparison to other old school franchises that have made the generational leaps just fine like Mario and Zelda.

Hell, I would take a Metroid Prime style revamp of Mega Man any day, pending that it got the care and labor of love that Retro gave to Prime.

^If it failed then that's prob. due to the low sales of the PSP at the time wouldn't it?

You guys should read the Megaman comic already, it's an excellent companion to the games, and it has Megaman getting character development~

If they put MM2 or 3 Powered Up on a Vita, that would probably be a system seller for me.
