Yeah, there's just awful weapons like the Boltshot, Incineration Cannon, and Binary Rifle to ruin a decent day. Three of the worst weapons in the entire series, easy.
Boltshot yep. Don't like the way it sounds and don't like the secondary. Reloading is neat though.

Incinerator feels as bad as a rocket launcher and I don't mind the binary, although I wouldn't really miss it if it was removed.

Incineration Cannon is way worse than rockets. You do not have to aim it at all - the splash larger than the RL has ever been.

And there's never a good thing about a single shot kill sniper rifle in the game, especially when there's awful things like personal and global ordnance which makes it all the more random.

So I'm not gonna trade halo 4 but I did hear the premium battlefield 3 pack was $30 somewhere. Anyone know about this and where it's happening?

Everybody involved in the matchmaking and netcode should have their pay revoked and a pink-slip as a Christmas present. Just utter, festering shit masquerading as professional work.
 
Ideas to balance the three:

Make the Boltshot's overcharge use an entire clip and only let it drain shields. That way it's on par with the Plasma Pistol.

Add an insanely heavy arc to the Incineration Cannon unscoped. If you just try firing it looking straight at someone from the hip, you'll probably kill yourself. You have to look up to get the projectile accurate, meaning people with the high ground can still use it and you can still accurately destroy powerful vehicles. Scoped in it functions normally. Also, only have the main projectile activate in most cases. The secondary "baby explosions" only work if the main projectile kills someone to begin with.

Make the Binary Rifle a 2-shot kill, but give it EMP capabilities. That way it can have a role as a specialized, long-range vehicle crippler, but still be limited to 2 shots per clip, giving it a more unique role in the sandbox. Maybe give it the orange laser trail unscoped and switch to a more dangerous red-looking one scoped in with multiple dots. The EMP function would also mean it could be incredibly useful against the shielded Mantis.

We don't mean worse as in weakest. We mean worst as in shit design that leads to shit gameplay. You're spawning with a shotgun. It's terrible and annoying.

EDIT: Just got done with Walking Dead Ep 2. Game is great, but point and clicks all have their limitations. I would have done things differently than the game allows. But forcing the player into tough choices with unknown concequences is part of the reason its so good.
 
For real? The Storm Rifle flat out tears through shields and in some cases, can beat an Assault Rifle in a fight.

Now the worst Halo weapons, well, let's just let the Plasma Repeater & Boltshot take that title.

How is the Plasma Repeater worse than the Plasma Rifle? It was basically just a cooler looking Plasma Rifle*.

*Note, the PR's stopping-power was removed after Halo CE, so you can't really use that as a reason the PR is better when it lost that ability for two games.

Exactly, they are pretty much both the same gun, no point mentioning both of them.

Fair enough. I kinda just wished they used the Plasma Repeater model for the Plasma Rifle, and just called it the Plasma Rifle.

Like 'this is what the plasma rifle looks like in the new engine' or 'this is a prototype version, since Reach is a prequel'

Sorry for asking a legitimate question about Halos population today compared to COD. I don't own Halo 4 anymore and can't check the online population. Comparing Halo to CoD is bad and I feel bad. I am a bad poster and apologize to everyone.

Oh yeah, and the population broke 600K shortly thereafter.

The good version of the weapon was able to bounce around corners and had a stronger melee attack. It lost a lot of its flavor after that. Conc Rifle is no better (but it is also weaker than the Brute Shot ever was, and has far greater physics impulses on players).

Pretty much the Ordnance system ruined them. If everything was static, people would love them.

But I wanted the spikers to be good. They just... weren't.

The worst thing about some of these weapons is how powerful they are when wielded by the enemy on legendary. Its one of my biggest gripes of Halo campaigns.

The Beam Rifle is a beauty. I love getting that ordnance.

When does the next map pack arrive? The first one was pretty ineffectual.

Halo 2 Needler, Halo 3 Pistol, Spikers, Spartan Laser, Incineration Cannon, Binary Rifle, and Boltshot. Might as well throw in the Mauler.

Brute Shot in Halo 2 was better than any version after, but they are still okay weapons to knock around people in close quarters. Shame they fucked up with melee and took away any momentum based system.

I don't remember it in Halo 2, but I didn't play H2 much. Halo 3 one was useless except for causing bounciness.

Unavoidable? Remind my Needler when I fire it. Damn near every needle goes around my enemy. It is frustrating because I die constantly by it, but it never works for me.
No shit. I have the same problem.

You literally aim in the general direction of the enemy, and get a kill.
I must be firing one pixel outside of the homing range, because I see my needles disperse.

You can never have too many. Get the NR in the next game too. Halo is the only game where someone will ask how many rifles is too many rifles. It's sad.


Again, I don't mind it, I just think it's a role in the sandbox that's been completely filled. Between the BR, The Carbine, The DMR... we needed another one?

One is a rocket launcher with projectile travel speed far faster than rockets have been since Halo 2, no (or insignificant) projectile dropoff with range, the splash range of Reach rockets, and secondary projectiles that cause large amounts of (full?) damage. The other is a one shot kill sniper even when you hit someone in the toe, can be quickscoped with ease, has a nice laser indicator to keep people afraid and in cover, until you decide to hit the camo button at which point the lasers disappear. Both are supposedly limited by magazine capacity, but Dexterity laughs in the face of reload-based balancing factors.

They need some work. Making 'em static would help, but they're closer to being unavoidable than almost any weapon in the series.

Yeah, they need a bit of a tweak in damage. However, I still stand by my statement that static weapon spawn would reduce much of the annoyance. It would not be any different than people running for the Rocket Launcher or the Sniper. You are bucked either way.

How about the idea of a player EMP? Strips shields, shuts down any active AA and doubles the next cooldown. This could be something the boltshot secondary could do. Show the player sparking a bit and create a new cooldown icon. This also puts that whole idea of a hacker AA back into play, but as a firing mode.

And seeing how enemies in campaign use AAs too, this could add some utility in both single and multiplayer.
