Highest level I have in Halo 3 is like a 20 in Team Slayer.

But that's because I didn't have Live til last last August.

Favorite Halo game?

3 - Best music, best multiplayer*.

Favorite MP map and Campaign level?

I'm going to split this into gametypes.

Map

CTF and squad battle - Sandtrap, with Blood Gulch a runner up in CTF
4v4 Slayer - Hang 'em High and The Pit tied for most awesome
FFA - Guardian, with Lockout and Ascension following

Campaign

The Silent Cartographer. It's the first thing I ever played in any Halo game. So glorious.
Second place goes to The Covenant.

Highest Halo 3 skill and what playlist?

48, Doubles, but not on my current gamertag. Can't remember what it was called.
45 on my GrizzNKev gamertag, also Doubles.

Spartan Ops or Firefight and why?

Firefight - ODST - Alpha Site - 4 players - Endure
The most thrilling coop experience I've ever had.

* I didn't own a Microsoft console until 2008, when I got a 360 to play Halo 3. Before that it was almost all Halo 1 PC, and Halo 2 customs on a neighbor's Xbox.

I think the answers I've given will explain quite a lot about who I am and the kinds of games I like to play, as well as the longer posts I've written regarding Halo 4.

Spartan Ops. I just like the fact that there's some story and characters (no matter how bad) connected to it. Nothing has really "wow"ed me yet, though. And honestly, neither one is all that great (minus ODST FF), it's just that Spartan Ops does it in for me a little bit more than FF because it's trying to create some kind of experience with you (and your friends) as the main characters.

Something I've always envied CoD for is that the DLC has 5 maps. I'd like 5 maps for $15, with 1 being a remake. Adding only 3 each time just isn't enough variety for $10, in my opinion.
Yep, 3 maps for $10 and nothing else in the DLC seems like a pretty raw deal compared to DLC for some other AAA games out there.
Halo 4 hit a new record low tonight 90883.

Also a new hourly low. At one point 7153 people were online in MP.

Yeah, holy shit big dip today. That holiday break is over.

Small maps from Halo 1-3 definitely won't work. Though, I think maps like Terminal, Rat's Nest, and Sandtrap would fit well.

Spiritual successors maybe. I don't care. I just want to be happy again okay!
Terminal wouldn't because it's asymmetric and thrived in 1-flag/bomb. Rat's Nest and Sandtrap were nothing special so I don't think they deserve another chance. I rather see something new instead.

Also keep in mind many parts of maps where the OS/Camo played in part; nobody needed to use the OS path in Pinnacle because nothing was there.

So... does anybody else kinda sorta miss the melee block against the sword?

I mean, I understand that I let the guy into striking range with it, so he should have the advantage, I just feel like with the combination of universal sprint, plus the sword's stopping-power-nullifying-property, plus the randomness of ordinance, that would have been a good thing to keep.

Time the block properly, save your life but lose all your shields, and trigger a brief-stun long enough to get a melee or a last shot off.

I think it could work.... but maybe I'm just sore cause I had my ass rearranged by a sword-fanatic last game... :(

Wut is Halo 3.

Firefight. Yet to play Spartan Ops, but I loved the customisation options available in Reach Firefight and I'm sadly aware that such options have been removed in SpOps. :/

The lack of OS (and not replacing it with anything else) on Pinnacle and Reflection really hurt the remakes.

Lol so everyone's answering the survey now?

I remember my answers. At the time, I preferred BTB over MLG. No longer. Especially with the atrocity that is Halo 4 BTB.

Nope. Worst mechanic ever. So very frustrating; it made the sword all but useless.

Sword is a power weapon. I think it's fine as is... and definitely no worse than the Boltshot at the least.

Halo 3. That was the point I went from liking Halo to legitimately loving it.

Zanzibar and.... fuck, I don't know. I barely remember the name of campaign levels. Let's say the Reach level that starts on the beach, puts you in a fighter jet, then has you fighting through a Covenant starship.

Highest Halo 3 skill and what playlist?

Three-way tie! 46 in Team Slayer, Team Objective AND BTB.

Sweet, sweet Halo 3 BTB. My god it was amazing....

Spartan Ops or Firefight and why?

I actually like Spartan Ops a lot because my friends and I set a time every Sunday to meet and blast through every new mission on Legendary. So it's actually become appointment playing, more than Firefight ever did.... but Firefight is just so much more flexible, and I swear we played full nights straight in customs on Reach. So Firefight... for now.

Meanwhile, earlier today, one Ninja brought in over 4000 concurrent people watching a Gamebattles tournament on Twitch with no fancy extras save for his antics. One dude.

To be fair that is probably close to the peak and I'm sure once the V1/MLG settings are commonplace and not all shiny new that number will decrease drastically.

AR, BR, or DMR?
DMR all the way but I'm happy rocking an AR secondary in Halo 4.

Favorite Halo game?
Halo 2 for campaign missions, Halo 4 for story/cut scenes, Reach for netcode, Halo 4 for hitscan, Reach for good connection filter, Halo 3 for friends playing with and ranked objective (which was too good to be true).

Favorite MP map and Campaign level?
MP = Zanzibar (Halo 2) or Last Resort (Halo 3) 1 bomb or 1 flag
Campaign = Delta Halo in Halo 2

Highest Halo 3 skill and what playlist?
Skill = Multiple 50's but note worthy for Objective 50 & Slayer 50
Playlist = Objective ranked (this is silly so please don't take it seriously but I was Halo Charts #1 Australian ranked objective for tons of statistics like most bomb arms, most flags taken, most flag capped and many others all related to ranked OBJ.

Spartan Ops or Firefight and why?
ODST firefight when I could get in a game with mates to play. Close second is Halo 4 SPOPS just because I hate the coop latency and prefer the story/cut scenes aspect. The gameplay has so much potential they could eventually replace/extend campaign with episodic content if they setup the development and gameplay results correctly.

So... does anybody else kinda sorta miss the melee block against the sword?

Nope it was random and shit. I much prefer if they just bring back sword strafe dodging from Halo 2 MP. In the current game it would dodge the sword, hammer (moarrrr Grifball tactics) and melee's too. It actually took player positioning, timing and it felt really bad arse then wiping the floor with the sword guy in Halo 2. Pity they took it out.

You deserve that message.

Nah. I have a lot of problems with some of the weapons and balance in Halo 4, but the AR is pretty much perfectly balanced for what it's supposed to be. If he got a 'garo with the AR, he earned it.

Nope. Worst mechanic ever. So very frustrating; it made the sword all but useless.

Sword is a power weapon. I think it's fine as is... and definitely no worse than the Boltshot at the least.

See, that's exactly how I felt in Reach. I was like 'Hey, I earned the right to use this thing, I fought/snuck my way into striking distance, I should get the damn kill, just like I would with a shotgun'.

The thing is, Halo 4 and Reach are different.

Not everybody had Sprint in Reach.

You couldn't call in a sword anytime you wanted in Reach.

The notion of a 'power weapon' in Halo 4 is broken. You used to have to earn that power. Now you get a random chance at it.

And again, I wouldn't want the block to nullify the sword entirely, I'd want the block to simply save your life but take your shields down to zero. You're a sitting duck, it just buys you one last shot at life and you need to be skillful to get it.

Whatever, I'll forget about it once I go on a sword spree...

Ok, yeah, I could do with that too. I forgot how easily strafing broke sword-lock in Halo 2.

Oh, and holla! to a fellow 45+ ranked on Team Objective. We seem to be a rare breed... :(

I'd love something more than we have now. Its very easy for somebody to come into your visual range on adrift and other levels and charge you with the sword, with no way for you to down them before they get within lunge range - not unless you have the right weapon on you. Even an AR won't do it. Sucks because I don't like finding myself in situations where I can't do anything. Maybe a magnum?

And having gunfire slow down a player unless they're carrying a sword is just stupid.

Got killed this way a few times tonight, and my last gasp was an attempt to block with my own melee, futile as the act is.

Try being an Australian playing with a non-hitscan back then in ranked objective as generally a random because I would never find games with friends in that playlist...UGGH! I almost cried my first manly tears over a video game when that OBJ 50 ticked over.

45 in Doubles, SWAT, and Slayer. I think I may have had a 45 in another playlist or two, but I can't remember and don't know how to check. Could never pass 45, though, I was locked in, hard.
Spartan Ops or Firefight and why?
Firefight for customizability, but with the caveat that I rarely was able to play a decent game in either ODST or Reach without input lag, and that killed it for me. Spartan Ops doesn't have that problem for me, but it's just not nearly as fun to play as Firefight. Appreciate the cutscenes, though, since I'm a story nerd, for what it's worth...

Too bad there's nothing as rewarding as that in Halo since then.

Also that's not a spoiler.

Haha, and you guys think you hate boltshots.

Edit: And I understand all the hate that weapon gets, but as it's already been said it is a power weapon. Sprint being universal is certainly something that helps, but it helps all close range weaponry as well. And sword block can go die in a corner. It was a broken mechanic that would be as silly as me rejecting a hammer and just as weapon breaking. In Halo 4 one of the few good things the sandbox has going for it is everything has been improved, not nerfed. With the power the sprayers and rifles that you spawn with have, you couldn't even call it a power weapon at all with block. And even with ordnance it's just as random, and unfair as everything else. I very rarely see it myself.

So yes, it's powerful but in this game it feels more fair than ever.

Ha, wow, I'd be terrify to ever play another game for fear of seeing it tick back to 49!

Crimson DLC playlist was down to like 180 players near Aus peak last night. Will probably never see those maps again when they remove the playlist

You deserve that message.
Wasn't even my AR, I picked it up cause I had no ammo, I didn't feel good about it

I'm just messing around. Congrats, you should render and upload to youtube.

I have to agree with you on that one. Halo 3 ranked OBJ was the tits; voluptuous, creamy skin, perky, C-cup sized with 5mm hard nipples covered in French black and red lace.

Ha, wow, I'd be terrify to ever play another game for fear of seeing it tick back to 49!

I must have lost and gained that OBJ 50 at least 30-40 times over the years I played on it.

In terms of rank I'd like to see in game rank return but dedicated staff or reporting systems for cheaters, boosters etc. If it's as worthless as Halo 2 rank then don't bother but if they can avoid crap like Arena and go more like Halo 3 playlist rank where you keep your highest rank achieved and display the current rank as well plus clean up cheaters then 343i should definitely put rank back in the game for certain playlists.

Dropped my controller and threw two fists in air when I hit my 50 in SWAT.

I AM THE BR MASTER.

Nice one, Halo 3 ranked did provide that experience magic. Now that needs a GAF GIF.

I love swat but playing from the land down under basically means you're behind before you even start in terms of swat. At best you both die or you need a full party, even then you're not guaranteed an Aussie host.

Wasn't even my AR, I picked it up cause I had no ammo, I didn't feel good about it

It's a balanced weapon. There's no reason to feel shame.

Speaking of which, I've talked a lot of shit about some of the shittier weapons 343i introduced into the game and some of the balance overall, but hats off to them for the rail-gun. [What basically amounts to] A mid-range shotgun that's both balanced AND fun to use? Nice. I love it.

Halo 3. I've played them all but Halo 3 was the first Halo game I played competitively (online, that is).

Favorite MP map and Campaign level?
The Pit (Halo 3) and Lone Wolf (Halo Reach). It's not really a "level", but I thought that it was a superb ending to the game. The surprise subtraction of the HUD just made it feel all the more realistic. And if that doesn't count, then I say the level when you encounter the Jackal Snipers in Halo 2 (when the song "Peril" is playing). The song was great and I was really diggin that level, considering the juxtaposition between the cool song and how insanely hard that was on Legendary.

Highest Halo 3 skill and what playlist?
47 (Lone Wolf). This was basically a combined effort with me and my roommate (probably 55-45, me). We played Halo 3 ALL the friggin time. I remember skipping class because I felt like ranking up that day. LOL

Spartan Ops or Firefight and why?
Neither. Don't really play them. But if I had to pick, I'd say Firefight. I enjoyed it when I was getting the Halo: Reach achievements.

For those who choose the BR vs the DMR, what is it that you prefer about it?

Well, I suck with the DMR (in SWAT at least). As soon as I realized I was better with the BR, I never looked back.

This is probably just with me but I find that I can aim better with it. Maybe that was why I was so frustrated with Reach =p

If it's Halo 4 we're talking about, well, I don't feel like I'm cheating when I get good BR kills.

Overall, franchise wide, it's the BR that wins.

No, I mean franchise-wide. Obviously DMR is 'easy mode' in Halo 4. I find the 5 shots of the DMR much more satisfying to use (not to mention effective) than the spread of the BR ever was, in any Halo game.

Basically, the DMR reminds me of the Halo: CE pistol, only slightly more balanced and prettier.
